Brazil news: Rainjitananda & Devashiiśa-- vile religious traders

Brazil news: Rainjitananda & Devashiiśa-- vile religious traders

Namaskar,

In every Ananda Margii's life, doing sa'dhana' twice a day every day is a very important part of the day. As per Sadguru Baba's mandate, every Ananda Margii should perform sa'dhana' regularly and it is well known that without Yama and Niyama sa'dhana' is an impossibility. Sva'dhya'ya, which means the study of spiritual scriptures with proper understanding, is one of the tenets of Niyama. It plays a significant role in keeping a sadhaka's mind in the proximity of Guru's teachings and it is verily the duty of every Ananda Margii to be sincerely involved in svadhyaya. All the teachings Baba has given are a'pta va'kya or absolute knowledge bestowed upon humanity by Parama Purus'a Himself. This knowledge is universal, rational and psychological which ensures that sadhakas do not fall off the path of dharma. It rescues one from falling into the deep abyss of dogma or misguided divisive philosophies. Hence, it is the duty of every Ananda Margii to understand His teachings, a'pta va'kya through sva'dhya'ya. It is the duty of every intellectually awakened, spiritually strengthened sa'dhaka to educate his margii brothers and sisters who are not capable of studying and properly understanding Dha'rmic teachings by themselves. It is a form of praca'r of Ananda Marga Ideology. This type of selfless service should be rendered by every Ananda Margii to awaken one's fellow human beings to the universal teachings of Parama Purus'a.
https://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga Caryacarya says, "To read out and explain Ananda Marga [[dharma pustaka [dharma scriptures] ]] before assembled sádhakas is called aopadhyáyik svádhyáya." (1)

Seva rendered in the intellectual sphere is viprocita seva'. Teaching Ananda Marga philosophy to Ananda Margiis is viprocita seva. By being true to the spirit of seva, one who is rendering service should not expect anything in return in the form of money, name, fame or respect. Seva is selfless service rendered to creations of Parama Purus'a to please Parama Purus'a. It is not a commercial transaction. viprocita seva’ is a sincere selfless effort to bring every human being to the path of bliss.

Greedy leech: sucking blood in the name of AM pracara

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Sevá means service. There is a fundamental difference between business and service. Business is mutual. You are giving something and you take something. A mutual transaction. But in the case of Seva, you give everything, but you take nothing in return. It is not mutual, it is unilateral."  (2)

Work performed with the thought of pleasing Him alone is seva' or service. Everything else is business. All educational institutions of the world offer education by charging tuition fees. Although this work of educating people happens in the intellectual sphere, it cannot be categorized as viprocita seva' as there are monetary transactions involved. Teaching Ananda Marga philosophy to margiis should be viewed as viprocita seva and should not be run as a business in any shape or form. If the teaching of Ananda Marga ideology is converted into a business, then that means doing the praca'ra of dharma has itself become a business. To bring every human being to the path of dharma is a part and parcel of spiritual life. Ananda Margiis should not forego their duty by converting viprocita seva into business.

~In-Depth Study~

Seva’: Selfless Service

Sadguru Baba underscores the importance of seva' for the elevation of human life. In this below anecdote, He narrates, how a simple driver of a horse-drawn carriage found bliss in offering his selfless services to Baba without accepting remuneration for his work. It is a beautiful example of how seva' brings happiness to not only the beneficiary of seva' but also to the one who renders selfless services.

Baba says, "Finally we arrived at Nawada station. I gave him my thank-you but when I offered him some remuneration he folded his hands and said: “I am so happy to have had the opportunity to drive you. If I accept a fee then I will not be so happy, so please, don’t give me any money.” " (3)

Seva' is indeed an essential factor of Bha'gavata dharma that establishes human beings in a state of blessedness. One cultivates the strength to transgress from selfishness to selflessness, to serve all beings for universal welfare by constantly practicing seva'. Margiis should not abstain from offering viprocita seva' which helps bring all humans to the path of bliss. More importantly, WTs in Ananda Marga, who are ordained with the responsibility to work selflessly towards building a strong spiritual society should not perform a so-called viprocita seva' by charging money for duties assigned to them.

Duties of A’carya/a’s

Baba clearly outlines the duties and responsibilities of Ananda Marga acaryas in his various books and discourses. Imparting diiksa includes not only teaching the sadhana lesson but also teaching asanas and ideology. Dadas and Didis are not to accept remuneration in any form or charge money to teach either sa'dhana or Ananda Marga philosophy. Teaching Ananda Marga philosophy means propagating dharma and helping margiis with sva'dhya'ya which falls under the aegis of following dharma. This is a noble task. Both margiis and Wts alike should consider themselves fortunate when they get an opportunity to perform viprocita seva' by teaching Baba's philosophy to other margiis. To perform this activity like a business activity by charging a fee, is a disgrace and goes against the dictates of dharma. Charging money for sva’dhya’ya amounts to a missed opportunity for seva’.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Ananda Marga ácáryas will always be ready to help without any remuneration." (4)

Ananda Marga philosophy guides, "Imparting diikśá is a social duty. It is to make a man of a man. This cannot stoop to business levels. It is your social duty like charity, generosity, hospitality, etc." (5)

Ananda Marga philosophy mandates, "The ácárya/ás or purodhás will not take any remuneration from their initiates for initiation." (6)

Service or Business?

Our Margii brothers and sisters are encouraged to analyze if the below situation should be categorized as seva' or business. It has come to our attention that some are conducting Ananda Marga Philosophy study sessions by charging a fee. This is nothing but a business under the pretext of teaching Ananda Marga Philosophy to naive, unsuspecting margiis in Brazil. Those involved are a WT, Dada Rainjitananada, and a senior margii Devashiisa. This activity cannot be categorized as viprocita seva' nor can it be condoned in the light of Baba's teaching and mandates to WTs. Below is a synopsis of this program that is being advertised to Margiis throughout Brazil.
https://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com/

(Note: Original in Portuguese; translation courtesy Google Translate)

Devashis'a and Dada Rainjitananda, by charging money for the teaching of dharma, have degenerated themselves and stooped to the level of intellectual satans or vipras who have exploited innocent people in the past and continue to do so in the present. This has been the story of every religion of the world and to see this vile activity unfold in Ananda Marga is rather painful. What Devashis'a and Dada Rainjitananda are doing is nothing different from what the priestly class and religious heads of the world have done in the past and are doing even today under the pretext showing the path to God.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "If one reads the scriptures of any religious community, one will find ample examples of this. Even if one undergoes austerities, practises ritualistic fasting, undertakes pilgrimages, bathes in holy rivers and springs, worships a sacred fire or studies the scriptures, one will not be blessed unless one also offers sacerdotal fees to the vipras. Only the vipras are authorized to recite even ordinary páncálii [long folk poems] about laokik gods and goddesses – and needless to say, a vipra would never visit anybody to recite such poems without remuneration."  (7)

Dharma Praca'r debased

In taking money for the teaching of Ananda Marga scriptures, the act of dharma praca’r is debased to the level of a business. The fact that WTs are involved in this type of business is despicable. If all those who are knowledgeable and have an intellectual understanding of Ananda Marga philosophy start putting a price tag on the words they utter in the name of Ananda Marga praca'r, then Ananda Marga as an organization and way of life will be degraded to the status of a religion which exist only to the serve the needs of those who intellectually exploit the innocent and protect the sinners.
https://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com/

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Occasionally even sinful, antisocial elements are led to believe that if they frankly confess their sins to a vipra, the vipra through his special efforts will obtain a dispensation saving them from the consequences of their sins; every intelligent person knows that a vipra will never act as an agent of God without some remuneration. Just see the way sins are condoned!" (8)

Religious Traders

Sadguru Baba condemns all those who use imparting knowledge of scriptures as a means to gain money. He calls them religious traders. Anyone with love for Baba, anyone who aspires to see Ananda Marga being established in every corner of the universe, will impart the knowledge of Ananda Marga philosophy freely as a seva' or service to bring everyone to the path of bliss. There is no question of money exchanging hands when one gets inspired by the sentiment that Baba's teachings is for one and all. No human on this planet should remain bereft of Baba's teachings owing to his or her financial status. No margii or WT should be allowed to become a “religious trader” who trades Baba’s teachings.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "To fulfill their petty narrow interests they hoodwink the innocent, simple, unwary, gullible masses. Internally they wish to become ministers to serve their selfish interests, outwardly they say they want to serve the society in the interest of the common people, Their one intention is to fill their pockets with money, but they publicly pronounce that they want to follow the gospels of dharma. Oh human beings, beware of these impostors. Try to apply your power of discrimination to know who are your friends and who are your foes. You should never allow yourselves to fall victim to these political and religious traders." (9)

Dharma is for all, not just for those who can pay

The foundation of Ananda Marga is the idea that liberation and attainment of Supreme Bliss through sa'dhana' is the birthright of every human. This is what differentiates Ananda Marga from all religious philosophies and gives it an exalted position. Baba says, being blessed with a human life is the only prerequisite to do sa'dhana' and realize Parama Purus'a. Naturally, this also means that our Ananda Marga philosophy is for all human beings irrespective of their gender, caste, race, creed or financial status. This is very much unlike the religions of the world in which salvation is guaranteed only to those who pay a priest or pastor. When money gets involved in imparting Ananda Marga teachings to the masses, the notion that spiritual knowledge is the birthright of every individual irrespective of one's financial status, is completely destroyed. This type of destruction is happening in the case of study sessions going on in Brazil. By charging money to conduct sva’dhya’ya sessions, Devashis'a and Dada Rainjitananda have failed to honor margiis’ birthright to learn Dha’rmic teachings of Baba.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "To attain salvation is the birthright of all individual beings. Paramátmá makes no difference between educated and uneducated, rich and poor, young and old – no such external difference has any meaning to Him. He is the all-knowing entity. " (10)

All margiis should be vigilant about this issue. Everyone must take precautions not to encourage any margii, Dada or Didi who charges money for initiation, to teach asanas or offers philosophy classes by charging a fee. The excellence of Ananda Marga philosophy lies in its recognition of spirituality as a basic human right. It is the duty of all margiis, WTs, and acaryas to preserve the sanctity of this great philosophy by not indulging in activities that go against Guru's teachings and by not encouraging those who indulge in activities that go against the dharmic teachings of Ananda Marga.

About these two religious traders:
  • Rainjitananda: He was right hand man of ex-Tiirthananda and together as the then SOS & SS of NY sector they misguided margiis of NY into breaking away and splitting the organisation. They lost the court case at a huge expense. Immediately thereafter, Tiirthandanda ran away with his girlfriend and married in Berlin sector and ever since Ranjitananda has been trying to pick up the pieces of his life. And now he has stumbled upon his new career as a religious trader.
  • Devashiish / Devashiisha / Devashiis'a: This is the margii of NY sector who has a colourful and checkered history in AMPS - and becoming a religious trader is well on par with his long, ongoing history of shady dealings. To learn more about him kindly write us.

Baba

Flaw in Tiljala publication

Namaskar,

Here we are presenting an error made by our Tiljala Publications Dept in the book, “Discourses on the Mahabharata.” Please read carefully so you can catch this mistake and fix your personal copy of this book.

Story: section from the published book

Below is a story from the book, “Discourses on the Mahabharata.” The line highlighted in yellow is the mistake. But to understand the issue it is important to read the entire passage. After reading, you will understand that Karna was “low-born”; he did not have any social status.

"Karna’s teacher was Parasurama. One day Parasurama and Karna were engaged in a conversation. Parasurama for some reason or other was tired, and he fell asleep, laying his head on Karna’s lap. At that moment a deadly insect gave a sharp bite to Karna’s thigh, and it started bleeding profusely. Karna was in great pain, no doubt, but he neither made any sound nor moved his legs even in the slightest, lest it should disturb the sleep of his guru...Later, when Parasurama woke up, he wanted to know why there was so much blood. Karna said, “This bleeding is due to the biting of a deadly insect on my thigh.” Parasurama asked him, “Then why didn’t you make any sound, or move your legs, or even wake me up?” Karna said in reply “I didn’t do all those things because it would have disturbed your sleep. To disturb my guru’s sleep would be a sacrilege on my part. Hence I refrained from doing anything like that.”"

"Then Parasurama said to him, “Since you have so much power to endure pain, certainly you were not born in a vipra [so-called high caste] family.” Parasurama was under the mistaken impression that Karna was a vipra [so-called high caste] by birth. “Usually a vipra [ so-called high caste] lad is not endowed with this sort of power of tolerance, so you must have been born in a non-Brahman [so-called low caste]  family” said Parasurama. Karna said in confirmation, “Yes, I was born in a charioteer's [so-called low caste]  family.”" (Discourses on the Mahabharat, '91 Edn, p.63)
In reading the above, it is clear that Karna was treated as being as lowly by his guru. And that is why the guru was furious with him. To reiterate, the above section clearly demonstrates that Karna was thought to be of a so-called low caste and therefore he did not have any prestige in society. The same story furthermore continues. Now see how the following yellow sentence goes completely against the above.

“Karn’a had some social standing." (Discourses on the Mahabharata, '91 Edn, p.63)
Firstly, the above line - highlighted in yellow - states that Karna held social status. But that is wrong; Karna did not hold a respected place in society. Karna was deemed as lowly; he did not have any prestige. Due to Karna’s so-called lowly caste Karna’s guru expelled Karna from his home and punished him. So the conclusion is: Karn’a had no social standing

The publishers made a blunder

The publishers are saying just opposite to the truth.

They wrote: "Karn’a had some social standing also."

Conclusion

The Mahabharata is an epic, one of the all-time great works of literature, and one of the most well-known stories in the world. So it is not just Ananda Margiis who are familiar with this - most everyone knows of this story. And we are selling our books to non-margiis also. When they read the above passages tainted by this obvious contradiction, those non-margii readers will think it is ludicrous and will brand the book as a lower tier publication, not worthy of reading. Ultimately, they will blame Baba after seeing His name on the front cover.

in Him,
Suresh Singh

Proposed correction

It is sad to see the terrible quality of work done. I remain hopeful that Tiljala Publications will rectify their ways, print an errata page, and publicly announce that the line in question should state, "Karna did not have a high social standing."

More about their blunder

In the preceding sections, it was explained that Karna thought he was of a “low birth”, and that is why he did not have any social stature, prestige, or respect. Verily, Karna's own teacher rejected him on this very point of social class. And, throughout his life, Karna was always disparaged by society due to his birth. That was the theme of his existence: Lack of respect. He never enjoyed any social prestige. Now see again how the above highlighted yellow line is false.

Here is the stark series of contradictions by the publishers:
(a) First those Tiljala publishers describe how Karna was thought to be of a lowly family of a charioteer, and for that reason his teacher spurned him.
(b) Then just a few sentences later those publishers wrongly proclaim that Karna enjoyed great social prestige.
(c) So the publishers committed a blunder and could not recognise that what they published is self-contradictory.
(d) They claim that Karna was lowly but then wrongly try and prove that Karna was respected.

From top to bottom, those publishers prove their work as self-contradictory.

Prout philosophy states, "None of the movable or immovable property of this universe belongs to any particular individual; everything is the common patrimony of all, and the Father of all is Brahma. All living beings can enjoy their rightful share of this property, like members of a joint family in the Dáyabhága system. As members of a joint family, human beings should safeguard this common property in a befitting manner and utilize it properly. They should also make proper arrangements so that everyone can enjoy it with equal rights, ensuring that all have the minimum requirements of life to enable them to live in a healthy body with a sound mind."

People will become lethargic

Prout philosophy states, “It may be questioned whether it is wise for any government to guarantee the minimum requirements. If the state is to supply cereals, pulses, salt, gram, ghee, butter, etc. to all people then naturally the state has to institute some process of control which people may not like. Hence PROUT’s view is that people should be guaranteed the provision of sufficient purchasing power to meet these requirements. In that case the state need not adopt control measures.”

“The other disadvantage of guaranteeing the supply of minimum requirements is that if consumable goods are supplied to everyone, people will become lethargic. They should therefore be supplied with  purchasing power in exchange for their work according to their physical, psychic or spiritual capacity.” (1)
