Baba

Bogus editorial: PB

Note: This letter is related with the magazine Prajina Bharatii.

Namaskar,

The aim of Prajiṋa Bharatii (PB) is to propagate Bábá’s invaluable teachings amongst Ánanda Márgiis as well as the general populace. That is the great objective of the  periodical Prajiṋa Bharatii - i.e. to be dhármic literature (sáhitya).

Unfortunately this periodical is failing to live up to that ideal due to the poor editing, ignorance, and self-centered approach of the purodha editors. Instead of being replete with dhármic teachings the periodical is nowadays filled with (a) propaganda material related to groupism, (b) very poor quality plagiarized material, or (c) the gross misinterpretation of Ananda Marga teachings. The absolute worst is when the Prajiṋa Bharatii magazine misguides readers away from Ananda Marga ideology. This letter is about such a blatant misrepresentation.

Confusion of spurious editors: see false thing in yellow

See the below excerpt in yellow highlight from the editorial in Prajiṋa Bharatii:
  • "When our mind and body will become full of Sattvagun'a we human beings achieve perfection...which is called Moks’a or Nirvan’a or state of God Realization."
Now see the scan of the greater section of Prajiṋa Bharatii.

From the Prajiṋa Bharatii editorial

The above lines from Prajina Bharatii are misleading and contravene Ananda Marga philosophy. The editors are wrongly proclaiming that when a sadhaka becomes ensconed in sattvaguna then they achieve moksa. But that is a bogus idea and goes against Sadguru Baba’s teachings. Becoming fully established in sattvaguna is not the equivalent of moks’a. Moks’a is beyond all the gunas, including sattvaguna. There are no gunas when one has achieved moks’a.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com/

Baba says: satttva guna can’t give you moksa or salvation

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “It was said earlier that it is consciousness (puruśa) in human beings which has to carry out sádhaná (intuitional practice). Hence the preliminary sádhaná (intuitional practice) has to be carried out by the consciousness metamorphosed as citta, by which this projection of consciousness retracts into ahaḿtattva. This leaves only ahaḿtattva and mahattattva. So the next entity to carry out sádhaná is the consciousness metamorphosed as ahaḿtattva. It is to free itself from the qualifying influence of the principle of Prakrti creating it by its dissolution into mahattattva. Thus only mahattattva or pure feeling of “I” remains. This is the stage of savikalpa samádhi where only mahattattva or pure “I” feeling indistinguishable from the Cosmic “I” remains. After this mahattattva carries out sádhaná and dissolves itself in the unit consciousness completely, freeing consciousness of the qualities imposed by the influence of Prakrti. It achieves emancipation from the bondage of Prakrti, and that is called nirvikalpa samádhi. Thus the sádhaná or intuitional practice that human beings have to carry out begins with citta, to be followed by ahaḿtattva and finally by mahattattva, which emancipates consciousness completely from the qualifying influence of Prakrti.” (1)

In nirvikalpa samádhi, the qualifying influence (guna) of Prakrti disappears. Sattvaguna is also a qualifying influence of Prakrti. Thus, for attaining moks’a one has to move beyond all the gunas including the sattvaguna.

Conclusion

The editorial of Prajiṋa Bharatii is grossly misleading. The editorial says that by establishing oneself in sattvaguna one can attain moks’a. However, according to Baba’s teachings, one has to move beyond the gunas - and become gunatiita - in order to attain moks’a.

Analogy of three thieves

Ananda Marga ideology states, “Máyá has three guńas – operative principles through which it works – viz., Sattvaguńa (sentient principle), Rajoguńa (mutative principle) and Tamoguńa (static principle). They work and lie in an ascending order on the road to the Absolute. The sentient principle (Sattvaguńa) has the capacity to take the sádhaka very near Him (Nirákára Brahma) by making the mind more and more subtle. But there still lies a gap between this point and Nirákára Brahma. This gap is known as Bháva or Bhávaságar. This gap can only be negotiated with the help of devotion. Thus we see that Máyá, channelized properly (in its sentient operating principle) can take the Sádhaka to a point very near Ishvara, from which point the domain of devotion begins. An interesting illustration is afforded by the following story. Three thieves, Mr. Sattvaguńa, Mr. Rajoguńa and Mr. Tamaguńa once waylaid a man with some money in a dark forest. Though all agreed to pocket the money, Mr. Tamoguńa also desired to murder the man. The other two, however, would not agree to this. Mr. Rajoguńa declared that the man be left alone to fend for himself in the dark. Mr. Sattvaguńa was more charitable. He led the unfortunate man all the way to the outskirts of the city. But after a point on the road he bade farewell and would not go into the lighted street for fear of being caught by the police.” (2)

Counting the stars, night after night

“Tumi esechile dhya’nete a’ma’r, karun’a’ kare a’ma’ke…” (Prabhat Samgiita #4661)

Purport:

Baba, You came in my dhyána. It was only Your divine karuna’-– compassion on me. I had no strength of bhajans, kiirtana, japa, sadhana, 16 Points, or any virtue of spiritual deeds within me. Only I longed for You with one-pointed desire. Today, You came in my meditation in Your real form. It is only due to Your grand empathy for me.

O’ Parama Purusa, age after age, to hold You, I was busy gathering oysters on the seashore unknowingly. I uselessly spent my entire life in animal deeds, remaining oblivious of You. Sitting there on the sandy shore, I wasted my time in vain pursuits - counting the stars, night after night.

Baba, finally You appeared in my dhya’na in a loving and smiling way. Sitting face to face, looking at me, You said, “Keep in mind this eternal truth. Those bhaktas who have heard the divine flute - the omnkara dhvani - have gotten everything. All the praise, insults, sorrow, loss and gain, and misery, pain, and suffering that happens in this world never burdens their life. Living in this world, their mind remains in the spiritual plane, always ensconced in bliss.”

Baba, You came in my dhya’na, pouring infinite anandam….

Note for Prabhat Samgiita #4661

[1] Karun'a': In the first stanza, the term karuna has been used. This is when one harbours a deep sense of empathy, is pained by another's suffering, and feels, "I should help them.” For example, suppose a beggar is wallowing in misery. By seeing his wretched condition, you felt, "I should help him and remove his agony.” This heartfelt feeling is the expression of karuna'.

Similarly, suppose a bhakta is suffering and unable to progress in the physical, psychic, or spiritual realms for any reason. In such circumstances, Parama Purusa cannot bear to watch that sadhaka suffer. He feels He must rescue them immediately. With His deep empathy and mercy, Parama Purusa removes their agony, so that once again that bhakta can progress in all realms of life. This entire liila is called His karun'a'.

Difference Between Krpa' & Karun'a'

In the case of karun'a', Parama Purusa is moved by a bhakta's suffering and comes forward to save that bhakta. Whereas with krpa' (grace), the bhakta is not suffering but even then Parama Purusa is bestowing His blessing.

It is just like if a beggar is sick and suffering half-naked in the freezing cold. If with great empathy a passerby selflessly helps that beggar without expecting anything in return, that is karuna’. Because the passerby is moved and motivated into action by seeing the beggar's suffering. In contrast, if a student is not sick, and that person just wishes to give the student a gift, then that krpa’.

When out of empathy Parama Purusa lovingly comes to the aid of the suffering bhakta to relieve them of their spiritual strife, that is the karuna of Parama Purusa; and, if that same bhakta is not suffering in the spiritual realm, yet Baba still bestows His blessing to enhance their bhakti, that is His krpa’ on the bhakta.

How polo started

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "The well-known modern game of polo originated in Manipur's Kobe Valley...Originally, only royal princes used to play the horse-riding game of polo. For that a very hard ball was needed. The kind of bamboo that was used, used to grow in the eastern portion of Rarh, in slightly salty soil. Still today the best bamboo for making polo balls grows in the Uluberia subdivision of Howrah District and in Midnapore District's Tamluk subdivision." (1)

They look like humans but are not

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Human beings are animate beings, they are not animals. What is the difference between the two? Animals remain obsessed with the gratification of their crude propensities; they only try to satisfy their cruder kośas. That is why in the minds of animals, what to speak of the supreme question, even questions related to the mundane world do not arise. Human beings, however, are (and herein lies the main difference between them and animals) mind preponderant beings. They possess the capacity of subtle thought which helps them find answers to increasingly complex questions, answers which have helped them to increase their dominance over nature. The same subtle thinking power has helped humans to attain Brahma, the Source of all psychic thought, and the final answer to all queries. It is the characteristic of all animate beings to seek joy and composure. For animals, that means the fulfilment of the crude propensities, but humans, by virtue of their developed thinking power, seek the deeper joys of life through the constant perfection of the subtle branches of relative knowledge. In the process of self-abnegation they take their psychic thinking back to its Supreme Source and get established in eternal bliss. Those for whom the pursuit of the crude pleasures of life is the be-all and end-all of existence should never be categorized as human beings." (1)

What are the most valuable treasures for human progress

“The most valuable treasures on the path of human progress are honesty, simplicity and spiritedness. In no stratum of life should you allow the standard of honesty to deteriorate.”

“In no situation, except during the struggle for Dharma, should you indulge in diplomacy or duplicity.”

“In other words you must keep yourself straight in all other strata just as in Sastáuṋga Prańáma, and remain vigilant that the fire of your spiritedness is under no circumstances buried beneath a heap of ashes. None of these three – honesty, simplicity or spiritedness – are found in dogma, hence you should strictly avoid dogma.” (Ananda Vanii #54)

Note 1: This Ananda Vanii is extremely misused by negative forces.

For example, some go against neo-humanism and illicitly sell organisational properties yet justify in their own mind that this is diplomacy and they are doing for their group cause.

While some indulge in sexual scandals and their supervisors and group leaders cover up those scandals. Such in-charges justify in their mind that this is just diplomacy to protect the image and reputation of their group.

And still more harass and victimise margiis for the interest of their own group etc, and all the while they justify in their own mind that they are employing diplomacy for their group.

Then there are others who brutally attack & kill Wts and commit many adharmic dealings and they justify in their own mind that they are resorting to diplomacy for the sake of their own group.

Remember, all such above culprits get severely punished by nature, in due course. Because diplomacy is not to be used for the sake of one’s group interest. Diplomacy can only be done to save bhagavat dharma - for the cause of universal welfare. so be aware.

Note 2: The above is one of Baba’s original Ananda Vaniis. These original and true Ananda Vaniis are unique, eternal guidelines that stand as complete discourses in and of themselves. They are unlike Fake Ananda Vaniis which are fabricated by most of the groups - H, B etc.
