Neglect & death + 3 more

Neglect & death

Namaskar,

Some Wts are very laborious when they are young and try to impress others and sacrifice their dharmic practices to do some organisational work. With that misguided approach of doing to impress others, they start a school or service project and fall into the bondage of attachment with that work. Many times this happens at the expense of their own sadhana, food, asana, and health. In due course, they contract some type of untimely disease due to neglect. In their work flow, they can tolerate that disease for some time until it becomes crippling. But later on, inevitably that Wt succumbs, becomes a victim of that disease, and, ultimately, ends up bedridden; and, they get psychically depressed as well.

At the expense of sadhana, food, asana, & health

At present, some supervisory workers do not care if a particular Wt has serious health concerns. Rather certain Wts will ridicule and tease that sick Wt as being fake and insincere. They may even accuse them of making up that disease. During that time in their bedridden stage in their sick condition, that Wt worker realises that their degraded supervisors will never help them, and in that case the Wt will only harbour regret, remorse, and repentance for having neglected their own health in past. Those of strong mind will beg for money in the street for intensive treatment, while weaker-minded workers, under pressure, will return back to their laokik families and seek medical care, if they are capable.

Suffering: sickness & disease

Here is further description of how this trend undermines Wt life. From time to time we see how a particular Wt was dedicated and working sincerely for years and years, and then suddenly they went into crisis. They became seriously ill because they were not taking proper care of themselves on a day to day basis. The situation becomes so grave they need to be hospitalised. In that tragic condition, they go back to their laokik family for treatment after having been away for decades. They had to face this humiliation because there are no proper avenues for treating sick or common Wts in a dignified way in AMPS. Whereas top arrangements are made for Rudrananda and his doormats. Yet regular workers just get sidelined. So every Wt should strive to be regular in their routine to maintain a high standard of health. Should any medical issue arise, then that Wt should be proactive and treat that sickness or disease in the early stages.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

As every Wt knows, Baba has given the system to create pressure of work etc. But that does not mean a Wt can sacrifice their health and daily routine. Baba’s teachings and example should not be misconstrued in this way. In order to get a little superficial praise, i.e. that “x, y, z is working hard”, one should not ruin their routine. That will only impede their ability to endure as a Wt. Here we have to recall the tragic cases of Ac Sujayananda in Goa and Dada Amitananda (AMIT) in the 1980's. They both worked very hard like machines in the external sphere, became extremely sick, and died prematurely. All because they neglected to care for their physical body. Sadly, in both cases, their situations were completely preventable. The irony is that in the name of doing maximum service they destroyed their physical bodies at a relatively young age, and, ultimately, lost the ability to serve anyone at all. Verily, these types of cases are countless.

Analogy: greedy wolves

Unfortunately, nowadays in the organisation, trying to satisfy one’s greedy higher authorities is met by, “The more you give, the more those top, avaricious Dadas will demand, completely overlooking your well-being.” Working for one’s greedy higher authority in AMPS is like feeding a pack of wolves. A person gives a lion their own arm in order to save themselves, hoping that wolf will not eat anything more. But those wolves will not be satisfied and will devour the rest of their body as well. Same is the case in trying to satisfy one’s greedy  higher authority. The more a Wt does, the more is demanded of them until they are weakened and ultimately destroyed. This is the prevailing trend, unfortunately.

If they are moralists

But remember, no matter how much some supervisory workers want to harm simple Wts, they cannot injure them because the nucleus of energy is Parama Purusa. Good or bad, all receive their energy from Him. In the past, negative people tried to do so much harm to them but they could not - rather it turned into a positive. The attitude should be that, “Baba is doing everything, whether it looks externally good or bad, but everything will be in my favour because Baba cares.” At the same time, keep good relations with your authorities if they are moralists. This should be maintained as far as possible, yet side by side one should internally think that, “I have to please my Ista.” The point of Ista point should not be compromised.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Certain Wts engage in projects more to satisfy their own ego than with the desire to please Parama Purusa. So when things go awry, they get frustrated. That frustration affects both their enthusiasm to do more work and their desire / ability to follow 16 pts. The key point is that new workers should amp up their sadhana and standard of bhakti and prevent these types of negative trends that befall some Wts.

Why wt loses spirit to make something new

Story: Suppose Wt “A” was posted in Tompur and established many projects there. And then after a few years Wt “A” was transferred to a new place and again built up some service works. And later on when Wt “A” was traveling to Tompur (i.e. his earlier posting) he saw that all the projects he had developed with his own sweat and blood had crumbled into the earth due to severe neglect. The successive Wt had failed to manage those projects in the most basic manner.

After experiencing this two or three times or more, i.e. building up successful projects, getting reposted, and later on seeing the projects from his prior posting crumble, then when Wt “A”  gets posted to yet another new place, he completely loses the spirit to make something new. Wt “A” thinks it would just become ruined by some other worker who takes over the post, when he (Wt “A”) gets transferred in the future. So once again all his hard work would be in vain. So Wt “A” just decides to do nothing, thinking that his efforts would just be destroyed by someone else in the future. Unfortunately, this type of defeatist complex arises in the mind of some Wts. They become so frustrated they stop doing any service work and give up all hope. Just they begin to wallow their life away - doing nothing except sleeping and eating etc.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Unfortunately, when any of the above aforementioned circumstances arise, then those immoral authorities do not help or save the situation. Because nowadays in AMPS, the senior Wts, supervisory workers, and in-charges do not care about those common Wts who are suffering, or in crisis, or at a crossroads, etc - only those in-charges are completely busy in sucking the blood like mosquitoes or bed bugs do.

Surveying the scene, good Wts do not get depressed after losing everything, and instead wage a ceaseless fight against the exploiters. In their life, there is always bliss.

How Wt frustration manifests

When Wts get frustrated then it may get expressed in some of the following ways:

(a) There was one Wt who became completely debased and inert. During paincajanya that Wt would lie in bed and call out and abuse others for singing loudly. That debased Wt complained that they wanted to go back to sleep and everyone should stop doing paincajanya and creating so much disturbance. This is the expression of a very low mind - i.e. someone who ruins the collective spiritual practices of others. Such a Wt utterly forgot their vow of dedication.

(b) There are some who in their early days as a Wt expended a lot of energy and established many successful projects. They bought land, constructed buildings, created master units etc, but after they were transferred the next Wt who became the in-charge of those projects neglected and destroyed all those works. Seeing those devastated projects, the initial Wt gets depressed that, “My all efforts from years ago went in vain, and the land that I purchased through hard labor has now been sold.” Thinking thus, their heart sinks and they become despondent.

Property destroyed or sold

In other words, years later the Wt who initially made all those projects becomes completely depressed and lazy such that they just sleep and lounge around all day in the jagrti - not doing anything at all - week after week, month after month, year after year. This typically happens with older Wts (50+ years of age) who could not face the psychic trauma of losing all their previous achievements. In result they lose their zeal and dynamism. They have no recourse to return to their laokik family, and they have zero interest in starting or maintaining any social service projects because all their earlier achievements (works, land purchases, and building construction) were either destroyed by the next Wt or were sold by Sarvatmananda, Nigamananda, Rudrananda, Vimalananda, or any other cheats etc. Sadly, such listless, broken Wts have no inclination to study or do sadhana either. Just they are frustrated deadbeats who do nothing. They lie around in a depressed state in the jagrti and do not want to undertake any new work or projects as they are fearful that the next Wt will come and destroy it.

Surveying the scene, good Wts do not get depressed after losing everything, and instead wage a ceaseless fight against the exploiters. In their life, there is always bliss.

Analogy: building construction, earthquake & fire

This episode is akin to some building construction project where the owner was making the building and there was an earthquake that destroyed the building. Then again he started constructing the building and again it was destroyed by an earthquake. Then after much consoling, again he made the building and this time it burned down to the ground. After that he was completely depressed and did not like to look in that direction. But on the other side of the coin those laborers who constructed the first, second, or third buildings, were ready to construct it again with a clear mind. They did not suffer from any depression because they got paid for every day that they worked. But the owner was still depressed and he did not want to even think about doing it again.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Here is the proper psychology: “Whatever I do, I do to please Baba and since Baba is happy and I am also happy because my goal was to please Him.” Then that Wt reaps the sweet fruits every day and every minute. So if that building is destroyed, then let it be. Thinking that it is Baba’s liila they will move ahead and make it again. Because their motive was not based on their own ego or selfishness but rather to please Parama Purusa. Such people never get depressed no matter how adverse the circumstances are. That mindset develops when the person is very sincere in their spiritual practices.

But it does not mean that they will not fight against devilish forces who exploit innocent people or sell the land. They think that those immoral forces are also within the liila of Parama Purusa, and that is why they take a strong stand. On the one side, after losing everything they do not get depressed, and on the other side they wage a ceaseless fight the exploiters. In their life, there is always bliss.

Conclusion

The main idea is that if any Wt does not lead a balanced life with sadhana, service, study, and proper health routine - with the deep readiness to wage a ceaseless war against exploitation - then degeneration is sure. Due to a lack of sadhana, the mind becomes crude; and, with that defective mindset they think they are doing work to get prestige, “I did this - I built this school - this project was done by me” etc. So when their work / project gets destroyed by other Wts then they cower down, are too shaken to fight against the exploiters, and become sad and frustrated. New Wts should know these points.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

With sadhana, one gains more and more bhakti, by His grace. In that case one thinks that everything is for Baba and they are blessed with endless energy and courage to fight the exploiters. Then there is no question of any frustration with regards to one’s work / service projects. Their mind will always be ensconced in the thought of Him - immersed in His bliss. Side by side, by taking proper food, doing asanas and sadhana, and following Sixteen Points, they will not destroy their body or suffer prematurely from a terminal disease.

In Him,
Anandamurtisharan

Main ingredient of Wt life: depend 100% on Baba

As Margiis and Wts, we should depend 100% on Ista / Baba. And that dependence should be psychic and psycho-spiritual. Only Parama Purusa is always with you - everything else is mobile and transitory. One day it will go. This is the final truth of this cosmos. So one should not think that some other person is going to help. As a sadhaka, one should rely exclusively on Parama Purusa. Certainly, in one’s social life one may say that, “Ramlal helped me a lot etc.” But in the deep core of one’s heart, one should not think like this. Because that unit being is also dependent upon someone else. Rather one should cultivate dependence upon that Eternal Entity who does not depend upon anyone. That is the ideal way for any margii or Wt to stand tall in the field of spirituality. If this is not there they can be blown out by any small storm. Unfortunately, some Wts and margiis forget this fact so when a serious problem comes they get paralysed.

Every Wt should aspire to live like a monk, not like a factory worker. The spirit should be of dedication, not attachment. There are various Wt conduct rules about not giving importance to worldly attributions like post, prestige, or material possessions etc. But that is just the baseline, not something lofty. Every Wt must aim towards the spiritual plane, ideology, the cultivation of bhakti, and those higher realms. Otherwise one’s saffron dress becomes just fake.

Formula for dharmic life

Sadguru Baba gives the following analogy and teaching:
Mana ná ráuṋgáile ráuṋgáile yogi kápaŕá.

[Saffron and red do not a yogi make
With mind undyed he remains a fake.]

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “Dye your mind with His colour. Those who have not done so cannot attain Him, for this very coloration is Prema or Divine Love. The differences in colour are signs of distinction; without these differences there is identity. No external sign of Sádhutá or virtue is necessary. Became sádhu within. Behind the external show of virtuousness of many so-called sádhus exists a pharisaic state of mind. Preserve the true dignity of the word, Sádhu.”

Múŕha múŕháye jat́á váŕháye masta phire jaesá bhaesá
Khalrii upar khák lágáye
Mana jaeśá to taesá.

[With shaven head or matted locks
And ashen body a Sádhu walks
With the swaggering gait of a well-fed buffalo.
And crude mind filled with thoughts mean and low.]

“That is why I say that you must bring about a revolutionary change in the flow of your judgment and thought, and see how, after overcoming your fascination with external colour, your mind becomes tinged with the His glorious colour.” (1)

Everything has become blissful

“Ke go ele sudhá jhará...” (Prabhat Samgiita #1157)

Purport:

Who are You who came showering spiritual nectar. My Sudha' Jhara, due to Your august presence everything has become blissful. By removing all the darkness of ignorance, dogma, mean-mindedness, and groupism, You have made this earth refulgent and wiped away all the filth of sin from this world and filled it with neo-humanism.

My Parama Purusa, I came to know You ages and ages ago - who knows when - it was Your grace. In that liila’, with spiritual flashes of a new illumination, today, You released the sentient flow of endless fountain streams.

Baba, please come into my life, into the depths of my mind - secretly, in Your attractive, charming Mohan form. Madhura, You are the embodiment of sweetness. Kindly satisfy my hope, satiate my heart, and grant me the highest bhakti.

My Bandhu, I surrender at Your lotus feet...

Notes for Prabhat Samgiita #1157:

[1] Sudha' Jhara': This is one of the names of Parama Purusa which describes one of His infinite attributions: The Entity that showers nectar.

[2] Second Stanza, First Line: Here the exact date, hour, minute, and second of the introduction to Parama Purusa is not known to the bhakta. Only the he knows that it was a long time ago that he first came in contact with that supreme Entity. Yet all along that Entity was aware about bhakta.

[3] Flashes (jhilike): To progress along the path of spirituality, the grace of Parama Purusa is needed, but not need a full load or large amount if grace, just a wee-bit of grace is enough. If He graces fully then human beings will become overloaded, i.e. flooded. It is just like if your crops are very dry and needs water, then just a small amount is enough; if those crops become flooded in 2ft or 10ft of water, they will not be able to survive. Similarly, in human life, just a wee-bit of grace is sufficient. Human beings cannot tolerate more.

[4] Second Stanza, Second line: This line depicts how the sadhaka's relation with Parama Purusa has deepened to a new degree of closeness and intimacy. Earlier the relation was normal and today it became extremely powerful and devotional. Parama Purusa showered enormous spiritual waves of intimacy and strong yearning of bhakti.

[5] Madhura: Here the bhakta is addressing Parama Purusa as: O' most loving One. Parama Purusa has infinite attributions and this name for Him depicts His quality of overflowing with sweetness and love.

To understand more deeply about the meaning of madhura, one should be familiar with madhura bhava, i.e. that intimate relation between bhakta and the Lord. This is an extremely close and intimate loving relation, just like the great bhaktas Miira and Radha had with Lord Krsna. All this Baba has explained beautifully in His book, Namami Krsnasundaram. This type of very intimate relation is called madhura bhava. The Entity who is most loving is addressed as Madhura and is also madhu bhara, i.e. filled with sweetness and charm. That is why He is most loving.

How come diabetes patients always drink

Ananda Marga ideology states, "The debility of the mańipura cakra is the main cause of diabetes. Amongst the pancreatic juices, one secretion helps in the digestion of food, and another separates the sugar content from non-vegetarian and starchy types of food. The sugar is then stored in a particular section of the liver and according to body requirements it is dissolved to generate heat and vital power to run the body mechanism. Chronic indigestion, constipation (here also the stool usually turns into pellets), mental exertion without any physical labour, use of intoxicants, and excessive seminal waste – all weaken the vitality of the liver. When such weakening takes place, the sugar contents of the food, failing to find a storage place in the liver, are assimilated into the blood and gradually accumulate. As a result, the blood gets polluted and loses its immune properties to a great extent. The natural reaction of the body in such a situation is to try to purify the blood by separating out its sugar content and expelling it with the urine. To dissolve the sugar, the human body needs plenty of water, and that is why diabetes patients suffer from a continuous thirst. Sugar emitted with the urine in a large quantity gradually reduces the vital energy of diabetes patients." (1)
