Infighting at B group dogmatic gathering

After many years, on 21st October, I went to the Ashram with a new Margii sister to attend the kirtan programme organised in observance of our beloved Baba’s Mahaprayan Day. But right at the entrance, I encountered a scene that deeply wounded my heart. I saw a few Dadas hurling abusive language at the Margiis. Such behaviour was utterly unimaginable—especially in the sacred precincts of Baba’s Ashram. The new sister who accompanied me was shocked and disheartened by this unseemly conduct. The situation became so tense that the police had to intervene; even on their faces, disbelief and astonishment were clearly visible.

Before the main programme began, I entered the Ashram to meditate and perform puja. Later, while joining the collective meal with other Margiis, another wave of disappointment swept over me. The standard of the meal, already poor seven years ago, had now deteriorated further. There was neither satisfaction in the food nor devotion or warmth in its serving. The entire arrangement appeared lifeless and mechanical—devoid of the joy and sincerity that once filled such gatherings.

It is truly painful to write these words, yet truth cannot be concealed. Margiis come to the Ashram seeking inspiration from Baba’s teachings, to rejuvenate their spiritual energy. But in reality, what I witnessed was a heavy atmosphere of unrest and division. Mutual criticism, harsh words, indifference, and disorder seemed to pervade every corner.

Even more astonishing was the discovery that non-Margii volunteers had been appointed at the Ashram gate—at a cost of several lakhs of rupees. Out of curiosity, I spoke with some of them and learned that they were local residents from nearby villages. It was hard to believe that the guardians of Baba’s Ashram are now outsiders! And before their very eyes, scenes of quarrelling and verbal abuse unfold. If these people speak of what they have seen outside, how tarnished will the image of Ananda Marga become—has anyone thought about that?

Moreover, crores of rupees from the organisation’s hard-earned funds are being spent on police cases and court battles—money that should have been used for social service and human welfare. Yet, when the recent floods in North Bengal struck, the organisation struggled for funds to help the affected people! The poor quality of the so-called “relief activities,” seen in social media posts, was truly heartbreaking. Such a state of affairs is utterly inconsistent and distressing for an institution as great as Ananda Marga.

After attending the Mahaprayan Kirtan, one heartfelt prayer rose from the depths of my being -Baba, please bless Your children with wisdom. May they rise above factionalism, division, conflict, and dirty politics, and return once again to Your ideals—to walk firmly on the path of Truth, Devotion, and Unity.
