In the appendix to the post-1990 edition Caryacarya 1, our central Dadas used the term shraddhainjali to describe their mahaprayan divas program. But since the shraddhainjali term is not used in any of Baba's discourses or Ananda Marga philosophy, many Ananda Margiis may not know what shraddhainjali is.

Shraddhainjali is a term used by Muslims - as well as others - in India for a death ceremony. So shraddhainjali is a death / mahaprayan / shraddha ceremony or tomb worship for any human being.

To MPD attendees

The fundamental equation is if anyone is doing anything anywhere and you go to their location and do what they are doing, it means you are supporting their cause. That is the basic formula that can be applied to countless situations.

Let’s look at this from another angle. Who can forget when Baba was in jail and our Ananda Margii brothers and sisters from all over converged on-site to protest the injustices. Margiis sang kiirtan. And participation in those kiirtan rallies demonstrated support for the greater cause. Those days Jai Prakash Narayan called the police on margiis and had them arrested on the basis that their participation in that kiirtana meant they were the supporters of the political protests against Baba’s incarceration.
Later on, after the rally, that same kiirtan would be sung for purely spiritual purposes during dharmacakra etc. Here the point is that doing kiirtan or raising the slogan at a rally means supporting that issue or cause. Similarly, attending Tiljala dogma means supporting the cause; annual death day.

See in the below image how these Muslims are performing shraddhainjali / mahaprayan / tomb worship for their deceased friend. In the below photo the deceased is lying in an open casket. Only the face is visible; the body is covered up. Many have come to pay respect and perform the last rights.

Directly in front of the deceased there is a large, round, coloured bouquet of flowers and in the center of that there is a sign. And in big black lettering that sign says "Shraddhainjali" in Bengali script. And that is the exact scene at this function that is taking place.

In the below photo, these Muslims are performing a shraddhainjali / mahaprayan/ death ceremony for their friend / relative who died. Take a look at the scene. At this Islamic death ceremony, in front of the deceased there is: (a) a large, round, coloured bouquet of flowers; (b) in the center of that there is a sign; (c) in big black lettering that sign says "Shraddhainjali" in Bengali script. This is an Islamic shraddhainjali ceremony that is going on in the below photo.

Ingredients of shraddhainjali / worship of deceased

So the needed ingredients for shraddhainjali are:

1. Dead person (Note: Shraddhainjali cannot be done for a living person like Shrii Kinshuk Ranan Sarkar, or PP Dada Vishvadevananda, or Ac Kalyaneshvarananda Avt, or Ac Viitamohanananda Avt, or Ac Sarvatmananda Avt  & dada Rudrananda etc. In order to do shraddhainjali for them one must wait.)
2. Casket or tomb
3. Flowers (real or artificial / paper or plastic), small or large amount
4. Toys (if the deceased is a child)
5. Scents
6. Water (optional)
7. Chants
8. Head priest, or mullah, or senior avadhuta, or purodha pramukha (any single one is enough)
9. Mourners (minimum one and maximum as much as possible).

Note: To show greater respect you can hire or rent mourners. They do this for various leaders; those rented mourners will raise the slogan in favour of the deceased or cry out loud as requested.

Those are the required aspects and ingredients for the shraddhainjali dogma that is mentioned in the post 1990 Caryacarya appendix.

Here it should be noted that the shraddhainjali term refers to both (a) the day of the actual death ceremony and (b) the annual commemoration of the death. In both instances it is called as a shraddhainjali program.

Non-existent in Ananda Marga pre-1990

Prior to 1990, this shraddhainjali dogma was non-existent in Ananda Marga. This was transplanted from Islam in the last week of October 1990. Sadly, just as the above Muslims are performing shraddhainjali / mahaprayan / death ceremony, in Tiljala this same type of event is going on. The mahaprayan organisers do an annual shraddhainjali function. Effectively, they have grabbed onto the Islamic dogma of shraddhainjali and inserted into our Ananda Marga. First they fast-tracked it into Caryacarya and then they actively promoted their shraddhainjali / mahaprayan / tomb worship event, year after year after year.

Open questions to MPD attendees

Here are key points everyone should know about the mahaprayan / shraddhainjali dogma:

Attending Tiljala dogma means supporting the cause; annual death day.

Some wrongly justify that, “What is wrong, I am just going to Tiljala for the kiirtana, not for the sake of the mahaprayan program.” Here it should be clear: Going to the annual mahaprayan gathering for the sake of doing kiirtan is just their  justification. Merely attending that mahaprayan gathering signifies your wholehearted support of that event.

Of late, both H and B groups have used kiirtana programs as a strategy to reclaim and recapture various AMPS buildings for their group cause. And those who participate in that kiirtana are victims of their groupist agenda. That is what happened in Goddha, Ananda Nagar, Bhopal, and numerous other places where H and B were battling for control of that jagriti etc. Kiitana programs are their main arsenal for capturing those properties from the opposite group. This happened so many times in the past and will happen in the future also as this is their cherished strategy.

Conclusion:
Attending anti-Caryacarya program is sinful

The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days. That is the rule as per Baba’s guideline in Caryacarya

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (1)

So by participating in an annual death day / mahaprayan / shraddhainjali prorgram, those attendees are directly contravening Baba’s teaching in Caryacarya. Unfortunately, our brothers and sisters are committing sin, knowingly and unknowingly.

~ In-depth study ~

AV(B) book polluted: Bangla readers befooled

Baba never spoke or mentioned the word mahaprayan in His discourses. B group intentionally corrupted Ananda Vacanamrtam part 12 to justify his selfish agenda of mahaprayan. Then he cited the mahaprayan term of  Ananda Vacanamrtam part 12 (Bengali edition) and underlined it and highlighted in his MPD propaganda brochures and pamphlets and told that, “Look, Baba Himself used the term mahaprayan in AV-12.” This is how B group befooled Bangla-speaking, village margiis.

Of course, Baba never spoke the term “mahaprayan” in His discourses as this was B group’s own insertion.

Verily, B group pranced about showing this bogus mahaprayan term to margiis all around and some got convinced. They did not realise that this is not Baba’s term - rather Sarvatmananda slyly inserted his dirt into the Bangla edition of Baba’s Fiesch discourse. This is how B group befooled some margiis and proved that he himself is just a reincarnation of those dogmatic, exploitative priests of old.

Trick

To impose the mahaprayan dogma, the chief inventor borrowed a page out of the dogmatic religious playbook. For ions, the dogmatic religions have maintained their grip of power by doctoring their scripture. That means whenever they wanted to convince their followers of any point, then first they would alter their scripture and insert their own agenda. Then they would show that to their followers to convince them. By this way they kept those followers under their thumb. And that is exactly what Sarvatmananda did as Publications Secretary: he inserted the term “mahaprayan” into Ananda Marga scripture.

Falsely justifying MPD by deception

The dogmatic leaders and inventors of the shraddhainjali / mahaprayan (মহাপ্রয়াণ)  / tomb worship dogma, repeatedly resort to a particular quote when justifying the existence of this annual tomb day ceremony. Dadas want to prove that the mahaprayan term is God’s command - God’s term. To prove that our Dadas found one pravacan of Fiesch and wts told that in this discourse the term mahaprayan has been used so it is a holy term and the mahaprayan function is approved. In this way B group misled Bengali-speaking margiis.

Here is the example:

The Ananda Vacanamrtam - 12, quote was originally delivered by Baba in English. So those dogmatic MPD leaders translated the above teaching in Bangla and inserted the term mahaprayan in association with Táraka Brahma. This was their scheme to try and validate the mahaprayan programme. Dadas lay claim that Baba Himself used the term mahaprayan. But that is outrightly false. B group manipulated the translation and inserted the term “mahaprayan” in hopes of befooling people into thinking that mahaprayan is really something legit - when really it is just one awful ritual.

Shraddhainjali is never done for the Supreme Entity who is ever-present. Rather, the shraddhainjali dogma is done for mortals in non-margii society. It is not approved by Ananda Marga philosophy. Shraddhainjali is not in the pre-1990 Caryacarya book and Sadguru Baba rejects this dogmatic shraddhainjali / yearly offering to the deceased.

Here is the paragraph from the appendix of post-1990 Caryacayra-1 where they have placed the term shradhainjali.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Programmes on this day shall include nagar kiirtana, devotional songs of Prabhát Saḿgiita (without dance) appropriate to the solemnity of the occasion, akhańd́a kiirtana, shraddháiṋjali, vánii exhibition, bookstall, tree-planting, sadávrata, other welfare activities, prasáda distribution, Bábá stories (satsauṋga), tattvasabhá, conferences and symposia." (Post 1990 Caryacarya -1, Appendix)


No annual shraddhainjali program

In our Ananda Marga there is no scope to do any type of annual death ceremony.

Do not forget to see that the shraddhainjali term
is written on the bouquet

The term “shraddhainjali” is written in the above Bengali newspaper photo. If you forgot to read or did not read the sign, please pay attention now:
(1) Go look at the photo.
(2) Directly in front of the deceased there is a large, round, coloured bouquet of flowers.
(3) In the center of that there is a sign.
(4) And in big black lettering that sign says "Shraddhainjali" in Bengali script.

And that is the exact scene at this function that is taking place. If you do not understand Bengali then ask someone who can read it for you.

Descended on this earth

"Tumi pather dhu'loya nebechile, shudhu a'ma're upare tulite..." (Prabhat Samgiita #1384)

Purport:

My Parama Purusa, You came down on this dusty path only for lifting me up; it is Your grace. You have done so many things for me, yet I remain oblivious about You. Even then You do not mind and You go on blessing me.

Baba, You made the path beautiful and lit the lamp to make my spiritual pathway crystal clear. On both sides of the path there was the chasm of vanity. In my blindness, I deviated and fell into that abyss. I did not use my eyes to see properly. Instead, I was covering my eyes with both of my hands and I kept moving until inevitably I lost the way and fell down into the deep, dark gorge of dogma. 

Baba, You then guided me and told, “Look towards the path and be fixed on the Goal.” And You also told me that with a pointed mind I should love that Ista, Taraka Brahma. But I did not care and instead remained oblivious and indulged in my lustful pursuits. I was completely engrossed in ephemeral pleasures in the mirage of my temporary and useless hobbies - even then You saved me.

Baba, You descended on this dusty earth to lift me up from the dungeon and onto Your lap. You are so much gracious....

Way to become tension-free

Ananda Marga ideology states, “Actually the owner of everything is Parama Puruśa, and the Supreme Doer of each and every action is that Parama Puruśa. He is the Supreme Fountain of all energies.” (1)

One should do the work all the while remember that it is not yours. It is His work; the results are for Him to manifest when He wishes. With a light mind go on doing your daily duties. One should feel this work is not theirs, nor are the results in their hand. This is the work of Parama Purusa, and so they should do it sincerely, yet without any worry or anxiety. The responsibility for the results lies with Him alone. This ideation will remove all mental tension.
