Pashupati is confused: “unity” AM

A few days back on Jan 20-21, 2018 there was a Global Margiis Unity meeting in Tamil Nadu, India. The meeting was organised by Pashupati Steven Landau of NY sector. Here below is a review of this gathering.

First off it is important to state that our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha should be leading humanity forward, not emulating the ills of the general society where caste and race are reinforced. Sadguru Baba wants that we should eradicate casteism / racism, not copy and paste it into our own organisation by accepting group distinctions. Unfortunately, after the recent unity meeting, Pashupati has moved in the opposite direction - more about this is explained further down in this letter.

Only way to unite AMPS

Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "Human unity is purely an ideological unity, which means unity in the psychic sphere. Where there is psychic unity, physical unity will also occur. In the realm of unity, unity is always psychic – ideological unity means unity in the subtlest level of the mind. However, psychic or ideological unity may be affected if we encourage the exploitation of one group by another. So to avoid this there should not be any scope for exploitation in society. And to ensure this we have to start a new order to safeguard the interests of the exploited masses. So for a proper social synthesis what we require is a common philosophy of life; that is, ideological unity." (1)

Caste, creed, race not documented in AMPS offices

According to Ananda Marga philosophy, all are human beings. People are not defined, categorised, or groupified on the basis of clan, race, or religion. So it is 100% bogus to say that all Wt factions are invited to such-and-such gathering. During DMC, Baba never requested any report about how many Hindus, Christians, brahmins, Muslims, or Jews etc attended. And in our AMPS offices, there was never any record of which Wt is from which caste etc. Recognising such man-made distinctions only adds fuel to the fire of groupism, communalism, and divisiveness etc. Baba has given Ananda Marga ideology to eradicate all those provincial and narrow outlooks. Sadguru Baba guides us that we are to create unity based on spiritual morality and dharmic principles. By this way, we can unite the entire human society in one flow.

Let us never forget that Baba’s main gift for humanity is a philosophy that is wholly free from dogma. In the past and today also, there are numerous organisations doing social service. And since the beginning great sadhakas were getting spiritual realisation etc. But never before in our human history has a dharmic, neo-humanistic philosophy been given. That is the new and unique point. And this is what we have to present and project to the world.

Yet, the mere existence of group representatives within our own organisation completely undermines the teachings of Ananda Marga and shatters the vision of neo-humanism. To allow groupism to continue in any form is to soil Baba’s teachings. The world will best be able to understand His guidelines if we emulate those ideals in our own life. So if AMPS fails to represent Ananda Marga ideology and instead projects group and clan distinctions, that will be the biggest loss for humanity and Mahasambhuti’s great gift will have been wasted.

Bogus approach by Pashupati

Unfortunately, in the aftermath of the Global Unity meeting held in Salem (Tamil Nadu) on 20 & 21 January 2018, the “Chief Convener” of the conference, i.e. Pashupati,  sent out a list of “convener tasks” or initiatives. In the below image, the yellow highlighted sections demonstrate how Pashupati is validating the existence of various groups. He is recognising them and inviting them to Ananda Marga programs and gatherings.

Of course what should have been done is place a demand that all attendees renounce their affiliation with any group or group agenda and instead embrace the universal teachings of neo-humanism. Because unity is made by adhering to Ananda Marga ideology, not by stitching together a smattering of the various groups.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Human unity is purely an ideological unity, which means unity in the psychic sphere. Where there is psychic unity, physical unity will also occur. In the realm of unity, unity is always psychic – ideological unity means unity in the subtlest level of the mind. However, psychic or ideological unity may be affected if we encourage the exploitation of one group by another.” (2)

See the yellow highlight what Pashupati propagated in his meeting. Pashupati should have invited all margiis and wts after giving up their groups. But Pashupati  is “inviting all the various factions” to his next agenda / gathering:

Here we can see that Pashupati is overtly perpetuating the dogmas of  groupism and factionalism in our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha. In contrast, a true dharmika would condemn the existence of any group or faction and demand that all live up to the tenets of Baba’s neo-humanistic teachings. By calling for every participant to adhere to the precepts of universalism, the rogue fire of groupism will easily be quelled. Sadly, Pashupati instead took an opposite turn; he is acknowledging and validating the existence of various factions. Verily Pashupati tossed a huge container of gasoline onto the fire of groupism, sending roaring flames high into the sky.

It is most ironic that Pashupati called a grand meeting to establish unity, yet in the very name of unity Pashupati is deepening the lines of division, distrust, and factionalism by honouring divisions. Sadly, he is moving in the entirely wrong direction, far away from the principles of neo-humanism. That is why Baba has repeatedly warned us that only qualified people should be placed in positions of leadership.  Sadly, bereft of proper training and utterly lacking proper ideological understanding, Pashupati is deepening the divisions of clan and group distinctions.

Conclusion

Ananda Marga ideology is the essence of universalism and unity means embracing and rallying around the ideals of Ananda Marga teachings and neo-humanistic values. We should be at the forefront in leading humanity forward and heal the current ills of division that current rankle our planet. Sadguru Baba has entrusted us with this endeavour. With sincere sadhana and ideological zeal we will surely be successful in this mighty task. While those lacking such qualifications will quickly expose themselves, as Pashupati has done.

Only learned how to divide, not unite

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Dogmas have taken root in the human mind. People cannot get rid of these false ideas because they have been injected into their minds since childhood. As a result, one human society is divided into different nations, and one nation is divided into different religions; religions also have different castes, and caste also have different sub-castes – what kind of situation is this? We have only learned how to divide and subdivide humanity, and we never learned how to unite the people. This is all due to the defective teachings of dogmas.” (5)

Avt spreads dirty dogma

One Avt. has uploaded some objectionable dogmatic images of Lord Shiva into videos of their Youtube channel. Some of the images portray the mythological picture of Lord Shiva which is blatantly against Ananda Marga ideology.

Lady in Matted Locks, Crescent Moon & Butterfly Tattoo

Here in this posting, two images are presented which are screenshots from a video uploaded to one avadhuta’s Youtube channel.

The first image falls prey to the following dogmas:

(i) A crescent moon on the left side of Shiva’s head;

(ii) An image of a lady inside the matted locks (jatá) of Lord Shiva; and,

(iii) A butterfly tattoo engraved on Shiva’s forehead. This portrayal is blatantly against Bábá’s teachings;

(iv) The wrong skin complexion has been depicted. He is not dark skinned but rather of fair complexion.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Shiva was white-complexioned. His immense purity of mind was in perfect harmony with His white complexion.” (1)

In the above dogmatic portrayal, the face of a lady has been carved in the matted locks of Lord Shiva; this dogma stems from a picture painted in Puranic texts, which are fictitious tales supporting Hindu dogma. In the above photo, see the butterfly engraved on Shiva’s forehead. That is another myth or falsehood that ritualistic worshippers ascribe to Lord Shiva.

Here is a summary of the dogmas related with the above photo:

1. A butterfly tattoo on Shiva’s forehead;

2. On the top of Shiva’s head one lady is residing, and her face is visible;

3. On the left side of Shiva’s head there is a crescent moon.

Now let’s focus our attention on the below photo:

~ Image #2: A fake and dogmatic portrayal of Lord Shiva ~

This #2 image from the video is also a dogmatic representation of Lord Shiva. For instance, there is the portrayal of Parvati in a lewd way, and see the moon on the left side of Shiva’s head. Verily here are the main objectionable points from the above photo.  

Here is a summary of the dogmas related with the 2nd photo:

1. Parvati’s dress is like that of modern filmy dancer;

2. In the historical Shiva’s age, in those days there was no cloth; people used to wear animal skin so Parvati’s dress is fake;

3. To satisfy the vulgar, animalistic lower propensities, someone made this crude image;

4. About this fake Parvati’s image: A person dominated by animal propensities chose to put this in order to spoil the teachings of Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji, and to ruin the image of Ananda Marga;

5. Altogether the person who has collected this in the name of Sadguru Baba / Ananda Marga is an enemy of the society and our Ananda Marga ideology.

Crescent moon hair-clip dogma

Lord Shiva is always ensconced in the divine nectar (soma-dhárá / soma-rasa ) of the pineal gland - which is related with the moon. Thus the moon is purely symbolic. But Hindus think that the moon is physically adorning Lord Shiva’s head. This is evident in the pictorial representation of Lord Shiva in Hindu mythology wherein Lord Shiva’s picture is made with the moon above His head, as if really the moon is there. Many people do not know the reason behind this. Ánanda Márga ideology does not appreciate this type of literal depiction - which often leads to dogmatic thinking. But we see that in the above photo, the subtle concept of soma-rasa is reduced to a very crude pictorial representation of a picture of moon on Lord Shiva’s temple-- which is completely against Ananda Marga teachings.

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "The hormone secretion of the pineal gland (pineal plexus or sahasrára cakra ) is partly controlled by the moon, hence its nectar is called somarasa or soma-dhárá (soma means moon). This pineal secretion invigorates the lower glands of the human body and intoxicates the spiritual aspirant with divine joy." (1)

Dogma: Lady resides above the head of Shiva

Further, the picture shows a picture of a lady’s head in Shiva’s matted locks. This is a ridiculous representation. Common sense cannot allow us to digest the veracity of the claim that a lady can make a house in the matted locks of anyone, be it Lord Shiva. This is a Hindu dogma that the river Ganga who is a lady lives in Shiva’s matted locks. The whole idea of a river being a lady and that lady living in matted locks is preposterous.

Licking Hindu dogma

Instead of fighting against the prevalent dogmas for the welfare of the mankind, the maker of this video is joining hands with dogmatic Hindus by aligning with their irrational and outdated dogmatic beliefs. Bábá spent a huge part of His time in His physical body dictating thousand of pages of Ánanda Márga philosophy as a guideline to enable us fight the religious dogma. Instead of propagating this legacy certain misguided people in our own Márga are destroying His divine teachings. These misguided people are afraid of Hindus and to align with them they are even willing to compromise on the central tenets of Ánanda Márga’s teachings, to not support any dogmatic beliefs.

Misuse of pracara

Information technology is very powerful and can connect millions of people. This advanced tool of technology is being misutilized by the dogmatic video maker, to an extent of abuse by uploading misleading pictures in the name of Ánanda Márga. Millions of people view these images and begin to either get the wrong teachings or to feel that Ánanda Márga teachings are faulty. Both of the aforementioned consequences are disastrous and undesired.

Conclusion

The videos uploaded on this person’s Youtube channel have misleading pictures depicting a dogmatic representation of  Lord Shiva. These dogmatic images have been included by this person to align Ananda Marga with Hinduism to gain Hindu sympathy. This is done at the expense of compromising with Ánanda Márga ideology. Further, the use of pervasive information technology tools like Youtube is propagating these images rapidly. This must be stopped or else either the viewers of these images will get misguided, or they may think that the Ánanda Márga teachings are flawed.  As disciples of Lord Shri Shri Ánandamurtiji we should not be supporting any dogma and therefore must oppose this. Readers are requested to write to the video maker and let them know of these misdeeds. Please request that they rectify these as soon as possible.

Maker of this youtube movie:  slur on AM

Here below is a screenprint of the link. The title of the video is “The seven secrets of success as stated by Lord Shiva”. And the main culprit has given his code name as AMPS0521, which is also seen below in the screenprint.

It is unclear who has made this video. But the person who made it, is a slur on the name of Ananda Marga. Baba wants to remove the dogma from human society. And this fellow i.e. the youtube video maker is perpetuating the rotten, outdated, stale Hindu dogma. So watch out for such pseudo artists.

Here below is the misleading title given for the Youtube video that was uploaded by one avadhuta:

This above title that is very concerning because instead of presenting the dharma of Ananda Marga teachings the images in this video are filled with Hindu dogma. There are millions of dirty videos but those are less problematic than someone telling false things in the name of Sadguru Baba and Ananda Marga philosophy.

Note: Please paste this entire posting in the Youtube comment section of this video in order to open the eyes of the avadhuta who is immersed in Hindu dogma.

What happens at the time of death

Ananda Marga ideology states, "When the physical body no longer remains, that is, when one passes into a bodiless state of existence, then the mind remains just as a seed, modified into the form of saḿskáras. There being no brain or nerve cell attached to it, it cannot perform any function. It commits no sin, nor can it acquire any virtue. It is completely good for nothing, a worthless entity. The cultivation of rationality is as much beyond its capacity as is mental work. Its existence thus is meaningless. Its only destiny is to carry the burden of saḿskáras over and over again. There is nothing else for it to do; it is a completely helpless being. It is only when it is privileged to have a physical structure that it is in a position to cultivate dharma; that is not possible under any other condition whatsoever. Even the feeling that “I cannot do dharma sádhaná” is absent there. Because mental functions are not possible without nerve cells. When there is a physical body, there is scope for the mind to think of higher things, and dharma sádhaná is possible for human beings." (1)

Baba has clearly told that He prefers English for formulating His philosophy. And Dada P is propagating the opposite idea of what Baba has told in the previous sentence. So Baba has told that He prefers English and Dada P says that Baba prefers Bengali. Let’s take a look and see what the fact is. While delivering His discourse on 13 Dec 1978 in Kolkata, Baba is telling that He always formulates His philosophy in English.

At the 2 min and 11 sec mark of the sound file, Baba makes the following statement in yellow highlight to the Bengali-speaking audience in their language:

See the red underlined section where Dada P is making his fabricated claim that Baba prefers Bengali for giving Ananda Marga scripture.

See the red underlined section above. Pranavatmakananda is completely contradicting Sadguru Baba. Baba has clearly told that He formulates His philosophy in English, yet Dada P is stating that Baba prefers to put forth His philosophical scripture in Bengali. As a stooge of Sarvatmananda, Pranavatmakananda is busy imposing the dogma of Bangalisation of AM books and befooling margiis around the globe.

Publishers removed it from the books

This discourse, "Self-Realization is the Real Knowledge” / “Átmajinánii Ekmátr Jinán”, was printed in Ananda Vacanamrtam part 6, but the Bengali publishers removed Baba’s proclamation to hide the fact. So you will not find it in the printed edition nor in the electronic edition of Baba’s books. Those publishers wiped it from the books completely. More about this is written below.

How to counteract dogma: listen Guru’s original sound file

In the past, the religious exploiters infused terrible inferiority complexes on the point of language. This paved the way toward rampant exploitation. Those at the helm created subservient communities and 2nd class populations. And still that approach is in vogue in our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha. That is why a few “useful idiots” always were working in the favour of the exploiters.


If we allow the false propaganda to continue that Baba only knew Bangla, there will be terrible repercussions. Some have been trying to brainwash our Marga community into believing that Baba knew only Bengali. This dogma should be nipped in the bud. Those interested in listening to the sound file, where Baba is telling that He formulated His philosophy in English only, should download it and keep it in their own personal archive.

This should be made known to your grandchildren - and that generation should convey this to their grandchildren - as it documents the fact the Baba formulates His philosophy in English.

Why TP deleted Baba’s guideline from AM books

As disciples of Baba, we all should know that Baba first formulates His philosophical teachings in English. That is what Baba tells us. So the entire Ananda Marga philosophy was conceived in English, and then translated into other languages like Bengali and Hindi, and ultimately all other languages.

And that is why even when speaking Bengali and Hindi, Baba uses English to express many philosophical terms. And when delivering an English discourse, then already those terms are in English. Yet certain publishers did not want this to be made known to all. Our Tiljala Publications (TP) did not want margiis to know that Baba says that He conceives of His philosophy in English. So the publishers tore that from the discourse hoping that it would be gone forever. They were trying to protect their narrow-minded agenda of Bangalisation.

That is why when you read the printed English edition (Ánanda Vacanámrtam Part 6, chapter 11) then you will notice that this particular section has been cut, removed, and deleted. But as His disciples - as Ananda Margiis - we have a right to know what Guru has said. So everything Guru has graciously spoken must be printed in the discourse. The whole point is that everything Baba spoke should be documented and not just tossed aside as the publishers have done.

Then every Ananda Margii should know about this. Every disciple has the right to hear what Baba has said. Verily it is sinful to alter, edit, or eradicate any section of Guru’s pravacan (discourse).

This letter has a few very key points:

(a) Baba explains that He formulates His philosophy originally in English;

(b) The publishers are not giving you - the reader - Sadguru Baba's original words, rather Tiljala Publications is tainting the discourse by giving you the words of one human being working in publications;

(c) We must assert our right to have Guru's direct teaching, not via priests;

(d) Those interested in the sound file as proof should download and listen to it; then you decide for yourself; do not believe on another's hearsay;

(e) This whole letter debunks the myths that Baba is Bengali, spoke only Bengali, favours Bengali, as well as the myth that Baba formulated His philosophy in Bengali.

Snake inside house is more dangerous

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "अपना आदमी हो, घर का आदमी हो ; कोई सत्य से इधर-उधर हट गया, sincerity की कमी जिनमें है—उसका विरोध करो, बर्दाश्त मत करो | अपना आदमी है तो क्या है | अपना आदमी अगर असाधु है, insincere है, तो, और भी अधिक ख़तरनाक है | क्यों ? बाहर में अगर साँप रहा, वह जितना ख़तरनाक है, घर में अगर साँप घुस गया तो और भी अधिक ख़तरनाक है | इसलिए, और भी, उसका अधिक विरोध होना चाहिए |” (3)

Here is an English summary of Sadguru Baba’s the above Hindi teaching: If our own person or relative deviates from the truth or is lacking sincerity, oppose him. Do not tolerate him. It does not matter if he is our own relative. If our own person is dishonest and insincere then he is more dangerous. If a snake is living outside the house in the wild it is dangerous, but if that snake enters inside the house then it is more dangerous. Therefore wrongdoers of the organisation should be opposed more strongly. (4)

In His above guideline Baba explains that bad elements in society are dangerous, but bad elements inside your house - inside your organisation - are more dangerous. Do not tolerate them, benevolently oppose them. So they can rectify their ways and become an asset to our Ananda Marga society.

Dada P writes: “On several occasions Baba commented that he preferred the scriptures of Ananda Marga to be written in the Bengali language.” (Pranavatmakananda, Mystery Book)

So in his book Pranavatmakananda is completely contradicting Sadguru Baba. By this we can easily conclude that Pranavatmakananda is spreading a falsehood.

Baba says: “When formulating philosophy I think only in English”

Pranavatmakananda is completely contradicting Sadguru Baba. Baba has clearly told that He formulates His philosophy in English, yet Dada P is stating that Baba prefers to put forth His philosophical scripture in Bengali. As a stooge of Sarvatmananda, Pranavatmakananda is busy imposing the dogma of Bangalisation of AM books and befooling margiis around the globe through the medium of his “Mystery…” book.

Thank you very much for this enlightening post. You are absolutely right. Pranavatmakanandaji has made false claims about Baba simply to infuse a Bengali superiority language complex in the AM community. It is truly shocking. Your audio file and translation (if it is correct) proves Pranavatmakanandaji to be wrong and misguided or intentionally misguiding others.

Moreover, just read the page you copied into the post from his [Pranavatmakananda's] book. You will notice several contradictions right on this very page [appended below].

Dada gave several reasons why Baba supposedly preferred to speak, write or think in Bengali. Supposedly because of the capacity of the Bengali language to convey spiritual ideas in greater depth due to its close association with Sanskrit. Actually, this is simply a fabrication.  Baba gave new Sanskrit terms just to express what Baba wanted to say. If dada [Pranavatmakananda] is correct, Baba should have used Bengali instead of Sanskrit. So dada [Pranavatmakananda] should have said that Baba would have preferred to speak in Sanskrit, but since nobody understands Sanskrit, HE [Baba] preferred to even think in English.

Now, the whole scheme of Dada [Pranavatmakananda] is further on quickly exposed by Dada himself right on the same page. That is because just a few sentences later we get to know about the book "Idea and Ideology", that contains complicated matters, including spiritual matters, and even unknown topics, and all of it was given in what language? Yes, in English, not Bengali. So if Dada were correct Baba should have simply used or spoken Bengali. So this completely contradicts what dada claims. In addition, if Dada [Pranavatmakananda] were correct, it gives the impression of Baba feeling uneasy speaking other languages or expressing subtle ideas in any language other than Bengali. That is complete nonsense.

The fact is, Baba felt very comfortable speaking other languages. Baba even said that HE likes French very much. So Baba had no hesitation to speak and dictate even the most complicated spiritual matters, such as written in Idea and Ideology, in English.

Animal slaughter: the deity would certainly interfere

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "When people sacrifice a goat or buffalo in a religious festival while chanting “Divine goddess, divine goddess!” before a deity, they know that the animal is an irreplaceable part of creation, but still they slaughter it. This is hypocrites' dogma. If a man kills his brother before his mother, will it please his mother? No, it cannot. The difference between these two examples is that the deity is unable to do anything to stop the slaughter, while the mother is quite capable of taking the necessary action. Otherwise, the deity would certainly interfere and stop the cruel, useless sacrifice." (1)
