Ac Sujit ji Plagiarised

Namaskár,
Táraka Brahma Bábá with His advent spiritually vibrated the entire humanity via His Divine teachings. His teachings are expressed in the form of numerous discourses and Prabhát Samgiitas. As the disciples of Lord Shri Shri Ánandmurtiji we are to follow these teachings in our own lives as well as do a pracár of these teachings to help the humanity.

In the process of doing pracár many márgiis write articles based on Bábá’s teachings. This is very good and very much required. In these articles, however, one needs to cite Bábá, particularly when one uses a quote or a passage directly from Bábá’s discourses. This is required for two important reasons, (#1) to avoid the pitfall of plagiarism and to follow the rule of the literary / academic world, and (#2) to make it clear which sentences are written by the writer and which ones are directly Bábá’s words.

The first aforementioned point is quite obvious and needs no further explanation. Regarding the second point, it must be said that in case of any ideological deviations found in the article written by the márgii writer, the review will be easy and a systematic procedure can be followed to detect the errors. With a lack of such citations, it will be impossible to segregate wheat from the chaff. Moreover, such indiscriminate copying can lead to corruption and distortion of Ánanda Márga teachings in a longer run.


How Ac Sujitji stole from Guru’s original discourse

Ac Sujit ji wrote an article entitled "Beyond the Vail of Mind" which appears in Prajiná Bháratii #253 (January 2016 issue) on pages 4 - 7. Unfortunately, in his article (Prajiná Bháratii #253, page 6, left column, para #2), Ac Sujit ji copied one entire paragraph from Bábá’s discourse.

To make this parargaph, Ac Sujit ji copied the below yellow highlighted sections of the following passages from Bábá’s original discourse “Mind, Práńendriya and Vrtti”.

Sadgru Baba says, “Mind is a state in the process of Brahma Cakra. It, being the result of changing positions, is essentially a stage in the process of motion, and implies a momentum which it has to express. To find expression the mind adopts certain inter- and intra-ectoplasmic occupations. These occupations (love, hatred, fear, etc.) are known as vrtti. In other words, vrtti may be defined as ‘the way of expression of mind’. On the psychic level this occupation is called ‘expressed sentiment’.” (1)

Sadguru Baba says, “These subsidiary glands are the sub-stations of organs whose main controlling station, as already discussed, is located in the brain. For the evolution of saḿkalpátmaka and vikalpátmaka mind (the mind is said to be saḿkalpátmaka when its internal occupations lead towards the Great, and vikalpátmaka when they lead towards the mundane or crude) and for the creation of external waves, the help of the organs has to be taken. This help is also essential for crude manifestation in the physical stratum and other multifarious activities. The subtle brain does not work directly. It requires cruder sub-stations under its control.” (1)

Sadly, Ac Sujit ji lifted these yellow sections from Baba’s original discourse - “Mind, Práńendriya and Vrtti” - and claimed them as his own by presenting them as a paragraph (Prajiná Bháratii #253, page 6, left column, para #2) of his article.

The main problem here is not that Ac Sujit ji used Bábá’s words in his article but the fact that he did not cite Bábá. The ideal way of writing in this case would have been that Bábá’s passages were put under quotation marks and the discourse name be cited in a reference section. The presentation done by Prajiná Bháratii is a clear case of plagiarism. This shows the poor editorship and a lack of an eye for detail in Prajiná Bháratii’s editorial team. Being entrusted with the important task of pracár, Prajiná Bháratii’s editorial team is expected to be much more active and careful.


Conclusion

Pracár of Bábá’s teachings must be done and articles written for doing so is a need of the hour. However, proper protocol for writing and proper citation must be followed to make the whole process of pracár streamlined and authentic. Ac Sujit ji’s article published in Prajiná Bháratii #253 (January 2016 issue) consists of several passages directly copied from the Guru’s discourse without proper citations and quotation marks. This is a case of plagiarism and should have been detected and fixed at the editorial level in Prajiná Bháratii. The lack of such care raises serious questions on the competence of Prajiná Bháratii editorial team for the task of pracár. Such callousness may lead to corruption and distortion in the Ánanda Márga teachings and must be addressed to vigorously by Prajiná Bháratii team.

Such Prajiná Bháratii Editors are notorious

The below listed Prajiná Bháratii in-charges are responsible - they must have encouraged Ac Sujit ji to plagiarise Guru’s discourse. Verily the Prajiná Bháratii editors are notorious and infamous for this as they themselves have been caught red-handed in the past. So these the editors themselves have committed plagiarism. On one such occasion they stole directly from Guru’s book “Ananda Marga Elementary Philosophy.”

Only cowards can steal from Baba and not give credit and just stick their own name in the by-line. And now they taught that same trick to Ac Sujit ji. Because actually Ac Sujit Kumar ji is himself an academic (retired professor) so he knows not to steal material directly from published books. So these editors must have goaded and encouraged him to do so. Such editors are worthless and shameless people.
