Find out when pen name is used

Note: This letter is for those who want to know Prout philosophy and Ananda Marga ideology.

Namaskar,
The use of pen names is absolutely essential with hot topics and controversial issues. But when really a topic is key and front-center, then a pen name is highly needed. If one is just talking about goody-goody topics, then a pen name is not needed.

Pen names allow readers to focus on the issue being written about without concerning themselves with who wrote it. And pen names allow writers scope to share their views without being judged on superficial levels like caste, gender, nationality, race, age, ethnicity etc. That is why pen names are widely embraced around the world
.

So the use of pen names is universally accepted both inside and outside Ananda Marga. It is a common custom and tradition to use a pen name in certain key circumstances.

Baba used pen name

On various occasions, Baba also used various pen names including when He was a student. In that circumstance, He used one Muslim pen name - Aftab Uddin - when writing to an Urdu newspaper. In that case, He was not judged on the basis of His age or family background, but on the value of His words and ideas.

Pen name is for dealing with cheats, bandits, thugs, anti-social elements,
criminals, kidnappers, and murderers

There are any reasons for using a pen name and one of the reason is this.

When a writer is dealing with cheats, bandits, thugs, anti-social elements, criminals, kidnappers, and murderers, then the use of a pen name is highly needed.

Pseudonym protects the writer for exposé

A pseudonym may be used to protect the writer for exposé books about espionage or crime. Former SAS soldier Andy McNab used a pseudonym for his book about a failed SAS mission titled Bravo Two Zero. The name Ibn Warraq has been used by dissident Muslim authors. Author Brian O’Nolan used the pen names Flann O’Brien and Myles na gCopaleen for his novels and journalistic writing from the 1940s to the 1960s because Irish civil servants were not allowed at that time to publish works under their own names. The identity of the enigmatic twentieth century novelist B. Traven has never been conclusively revealed, in spite of thorough research.

The Histoire d’O (The Story of O),

For reasons unknown, but perhaps to escape the notice of English authorities, the author Robert Noonan chose the name Robert Tressell as his pseudonym to write his novel The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists.

Alice Bradley Sheldon had a multiplicity of reasons to write under the pen name of James Tiptree, Jr.: she was a woman writing in the heavily male-dominated genre of science fiction; she was a bisexual woman who may have wanted to avoid the inherent biases of her readers; and she was a career intelligence officer, first in the Army Air Corps and then in the early years of the CIA, for whom concealment was a way of life.

After Stephen King‘s pen name Richard Bachman got released to the public, King said that Bachman had “died of cancer“. After this, King began writing under his own name for most of his stories. The event of King’s pen name being released helped conceive another novel, The Dark Half. (2)

Anonymity and US Supreme Court

The right for anonymous political campaigning was established in the U.S. Supreme Court decision in McIntyre v. Ohio Elections Commission (1995) case: “Anonymity is a shield from the tyranny of the majority...It thus exemplifies the purpose behind the Bill of Rights, and of the First Amendment in particular: to protect unpopular individuals from retaliation—and their ideas from suppression—at the hand of an intolerant society”.
The right of individuals for anonymous communication was established by the decision in case Columbia Insurance Company v. Seescandy.com, et al. (1999) of the US District Court in the Northern District of California: “People are permitted to interact pseudonymously and anonymously with each other so long as those acts are not in violation of the law.”
The right of individuals for “anonymous reading” was established in the U.S. Supreme Court decision in United States v. Rumely (1953) case: “Once the government can demand of a publisher the names of the purchasers of his publications, the free press as we know it disappears. Then the spectre of a government agent will look over the shoulder of everyone who reads”.  (3)

 Witness to crime

There are various situations in which a person might choose to withhold their identity. Acts of charity have been performed anonymously when benefactors do not wish to be acknowledged. A person who feels threatened might attempt to mitigate that threat through anonymity. A witness to a crime might seek to avoid retribution, for example, by anonymously calling a crime tipline. (Courtesy of Wikipedia)

To protect the author’s real identity

Some authors have used a false name for life-or-death reasons, because they live under oppressive regimes, or have dangerous things to say about powerful people.

For some, it’s been a matter of privacy. They don’t want weirdos looking them up in the phone book, or workmates teasing them.

Some might work for a government department or other organisation which does not allow its employees to publish under their own names, because of the conflict of interests it may cause. (4)

Here is small sample...

There are thousands of people who have used pen names, to see a sampling please see link down below at the very bottom of this email.

Wrongdoers gets terrified by the constructive criticism

Dada Maheshvarananda may have his own reasons why he is refusing to talk about the main issue: Human trafficking and whether it qualifies as part of the barter system.

Dadaji writes: "President Hugo Chávez of Venezuela has pioneered barter trade, signing bilateral barter agreements with developing countries, swapping Venezuelan oil for other products or services the country needs, including 50,000 Cuban doctors and dentists who provide free medical care in city slums and remote rural villages." (1)

In his attempt to speak to the virtues of the Proutistic barter system, Dadaji glorifies the trading of human beings by 2 communist and exploitative dictators. Hugo Chavez of Venezuela sends oil to Cuba and in return the Castro regime of Cuba sends Venezuela 50,000 doctors and dentists. Cuba regards those doctors and dentists as mere property of the state and summarily uproots them from their personal and professional life in Cuba and transplants them to Venezuela where they are to work as indentured servants or slaves.

Those doctors and dentists had no say in this decision. They were merely ordered to go. The communist Castro regime treats those doctors as lifeless commodities of the state that can be tossed around and traded like bricks and baskets. What they are doing is a form of human trafficking where citizens and professionals are forced against their will to work without pay in a foreign land. And Dada Maheshvarananda is glorifying this scene as a fine and true representation of Prout's barter system.

Namaskar,

p.s. Those who have not read the initial letter on this topic about the Prout barter system, the link is given below.

Note ==: Dadaji’s statement

In his reply on the issue about whether human trafficking is part of the Prout barter system, Dada wrote the following:

It is difficult to respond to the public accusations of this anonymous person. Do you personally know this Dharmaviira? Where does he live? Do you know anyone, acarya or margii, who has personally met him? Avinash in USA for a decade has been using pseudonyms to cover his postings. I challenge you to write to the author and ask where he lives and the name of any margii or acarya who can vouch for him. (Dada Maheshvarananda)

Note==: This following letter created this whole issue
Prout barter system: human trafficking is not barter

First let us see what Prout says about the barter system. In Shrii PR Sarkar's Prout teachings, the barter system is a viable and accepted method of trade that is highly beneficial, under the right circumstances.

"The practice of the mutual exchange of commodities in foreign trade is called “barter trade”. In foreign trade those countries which have a large volume of very few commodities to sell but many commodities to buy will find barter trade profitable." (5)

According to Prout, the barter system has a distinct place in foreign trade. It veritably sparks an economy and makes for mutually beneficial trade between regions or nations etc.

Here we should understand that in the Prout system, only commodities like food, industrial supplies, natural resources etc may be bartered. In Prout, human trafficking and forced labor are not allowed; they are not part of the barter system, rather they are criminal activities.

We all know that Prout is a rational, neo-humanistic system that guarantees cardinal human values, where the rights of every human being are honoured and respected. Thus, in the Prout system there is absolutely no scope for the bartering of human beings as was done in the old slave trade days.

"Trading human beings for oil is ok" - Maheshvarananda ji

Unfortunately, in one Dada's book - "After Capitalism" (2012) - he openly praises the virtues of trading human beings in the barter system, as if this is part and parcel of the Prout policy. Needless to say, this is completely wrong.

But look here what he has written in the updated version of his book. He speaks glowingly about trading human beings for oil.

First Dadaji makes a valid statement. By reading this he lulls readers into thinking he knows what he is talking about.

Dadaji writes: "The best form of trade between regions and countries is barter or bilateral trade, because this avoids the need to pay in foreign currency. Both economic democracy countries benefit, meeting needs by exchanging excess goods." (6)

Next Dadaji makes this horrible and shocking statement.

Dadaji writes: "Venezuela has pioneered barter trade, signing bilateral barter agreements with developing countries, swapping Venezuelan oil for other products or services the country needs, including 50,000 Cuban doctors and dentists who provide free medical care in city slums and remote rural villages." (7)

In his misguided attempt to speak to the virtues of the Proutistic barter system, Dadaji glorifies the trading of human beings by 2 communist and exploitative nations. Venezuela sends oil to Cuba and in return the Castro regime of Cuba sends Venezuela 50,000 doctors and dentists. Cuba regards those doctors and dentists as mere property of the state and summarily uproots them from their personal and professional life in Cuba and transplants them to Venezuela where they are to work as indentured servants or slaves.

Those doctors and dentists had no say in this decision. They were merely ordered to go. The Castro regime treats those doctors as lifeless commodities of the state that can be tossed around and traded like bricks and bread baskets. What they are doing is a form of human trafficking where citizens and professionals are forced against their will to work without pay in a foreign land. And one Dada M is glorifying this scene as a fine and true representation of Prout's barter system.

This is absolutely shocking and is enough to scare anyone away from Prout.

Note ==: Three Names

Since the mid 1990's, not including his brahmacarya name, Dada Maheshvaranandji himself has used 3 different avadhuta names to hide his identity. First he was Prasiidananda, and then he changed it to Maheshananda, and finally he switched to Maheshvarananda, the name he is using nowadays.

Why number of good people is less

Ananda Marga ideology states, “Suppose there is a virtuous discussion going on somewhere. If you invite two hundred people to this discussion, you will find that only sixty invitees have turned up, at the most. Out of these participants about ten or twelve people at most listen with patience and devotion to the talks; and out of these listeners, only some properly understand the subject discussed. Then again, out of this small group that has understood, only a very few may retain in their minds what they have understood. Lastly, only one or two persons of this last group may practice in their daily lives what they have learnt and understood. This is only due to the clash between vidyá and avidyá in the mind, and in this clash the triumph of avidyá or the extroversive force means running from the introversive bent of vidyá. It is because of the saḿskaras of animality that the introversive momentum is rare in the average human mind. The sensuous desires of avidyá continue to infiltrate into every thought process. Such a situation continues for a long time in a sádhakas life.” (1)

O’ Parama Purusa, in the middle of this spring season,
You came amidst the flowers

Purport:

O’ Divine Entity, I can hear the runu jhunu runu jhunu [1] sound of the nupur [2]. I have been counting the days - counting the moments. O’ Lord, in the middle of this spring season, You came amidst the flowers. Your divine arrival is so blissful.

O’ Parama Purusa, with all my heart I want to make You my own - in my remembrances, in my manan [3], in each and every prahara [4] - all the 24hrs. Now that You have come, please remain here, in Your most attractive mohan [5] form, along with me forever - making my heart overflowing with Your divine love.

O’ Parama Purusa, Baba, with Your rhythmic tempo and exuberant bliss, with which divine magical spell have You spiritually intoxicated the world. You are the dignity and pride of everyone. You are the quintessence of all. Today, by receiving Your sway - all dance. By Your energy and by Your grace all are frolicking.

Note for Prabhat Samgiita #317:

[1] Runu jhunu: A sweet jingling sound as of the bells of a dancer's anklets.

[2] Nupur: This universe exists in the mind of Parama Purusa and is marked by three processes: Creation, sustenance, and destruction. Those process are represented by three sounds: A - U - MA. That is the sound of omnkara. Thus Parama Purusa is dancing in the rhythm of creation, sustenance, and destruction. These are the sounds emanating from the ankle bell of Parama Purusa.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Listen to these three sounds of aum: a, u, ma. They represent the creation, the retention [or preservation], and the destruction. The first sound, a, represents creation; the second sound, u, represents retention; the third sound, ma, represents destruction. So all those innumerable sounds, all those fifty sounds, are represented by these supreme sounds, a, u and ma; and collectively a-u-ma becomes aum.” (1)

For unit beings the sound they hear depends upon the degree of their realisation. If, by His grace, their mind is in an exalted state then they will hear the full omnkara sound. If one's mind is less elevated they will hear a different type of sound like the roar of the ocean, the sweet melody of the flute, the chirping of the crickets etc. At different stages of realisation the sadhaka can hear these sounds as detailed in the discourse, “The Six Stages of Realization.”

So it is all depend upon the quality of mind. That determines which sound a person will hear. It is similar to someone looking at a very colourful flower. If their eyes are perfect they will see all the colours of that flower. And if their vision is compromised in any way or if they are colour-blind they will only see one or two of the colours. It depends upon the quality of their vision. In the same way, hearing the omnkara sound is wholly dependent upon the quality of mind of the aspirant.

In the case of Parama Purusa, He is always basking in that omnkara sound as that is the sound emanating from His own mind.

[3] Manan: "To attain Him human beings have to take recourse to shravana (constantly hearing His name), manana (constantly ideating on Him) and nididya'sana (constantly meditating on Him). The Supreme Entity is Gurha, that is, He is lying hidden in the innermost recess of the human entity. To attain Him one must penetrate deep within oneself, and for that the development of an introversial outlook is essential." (2)

[4] Prahar: Each day is broken up into eight segments or eight periods. And these periods are known as 'prahar'. In that way, each prahar is three hours length in duration. Here Baba explains more about prahar and various other segments of time.

Baba says, "The verbal root 'mas' means 'to measure'. By adding 'ghain' to 'mas' we get ma'sa whose etymological meaning is 'a measurement of time' or 'a period of time'. Thus ma'sa in this sense means 'era', 'lunar year', 'lunar month', 'lunar day', 'solar year', 'solar month', 'fortnight', 'week', 'solar day' or ahora'tra (from sunrise to sunrise), prahara (three hours), hour, minute, second, fraction-of-second and so forth -- all of these." (3)

[5] Mohan: Parama Purusa has infinite attributions and in His role as Mohan and He attracts bhaktas towards Him.

“When I lose myself, when ́I’ becomes dear to that Entity, when ́I’ becomes the source of joy to that Entity, a stage is finally reached when my unit existence is completely lost in that Entity. The losing of oneself, the state of being lost or as a matter of fact, the beginning of the process of losing oneself to the very source of joy, is known as mohanavijiṋána, or the science of supra-aesthetics. And the Entity to whom we lose ourselves is Mohana, or the embodiment of enchantment. Parama Puruśa is Mohana as He enchants one and all. Had not Parama Puruśa enchanted the world, no one would have wanted to live here.”
“Can you imagine the gravity of the countless problems in the world? Exasperated at the acute problems, human beings would have bidden goodbye to the world and fled. But one fails to do this because one has come under the overwhelming influence of Mohana, i.e., Parama Puruśa and thus has become unable to flee from this world. Even if one does not like this world, one somehow remains here due to love for Parama Puruśa. And when one falls in love with Parama Puruśa, and when one is dear to Parama Puruśa, where will one go? For this very reason it has been said that human beings invented Dharma as a result of their love for Mohana, or due to falling into His charming clutches. In this way, Dharma or spirituality first appeared in human life.” (4)

Obesity : wts-monks health issue

Note: This section is not for those who don't have concern for our Wts.

Namaskar,

Sadguru Baba says, “In the world today a handful of people who do no physical work, but live by their wits, have appropriated to themselves most of the wealth of humanity, so they are able to buy comparatively expensive foods, and use them to satisfy their taste buds. As a result, they, on the one hand, swell with unnecessary fat, while, on the other hand, those people doing hard manual labour are forced to live in poverty and deprived of the ghee, butter and sweets they need to maintain their bodies; ...So my point is that obesity is primarily a disease of well-off, non-labouring society. High-salaried office workers, rich businessmen and parasitic politicians are those who suffer most from obesity….
Another distinguishing mark of such people is that they are most greedy for those foods which are most fattening; that is, when invited outside, they will never evenby mistake eat much in the way of vegetable preparations – instead they will eat a lot of luci, fish, meat and sweets. As they grow older and their livers become weak, they will lose that voracious appetite. Then they will sorrowfully say to people that they cannot consume food as they used to. Their muscles become flaccid and they begin to suffer from acidity, constipation or intestinal troubles. Fat accumulated on the chest affects the heart and lungs and makes it difficult for these organs to function.” (1)

Note: Sadly, the problem of obesity is prevalent amongst our Wts as well. Here this big-bellied Dada was teaching an asana class.

Side by side, youths were joking how it looks like this dada himself does not do asanas. And it is true that 70% of our Wts are not regular asanas and fasting. And verily that is the problem. In our organisation so many Dadas are suffering from high blood pressure and cholesterol, heart disease, diabetes etc. And this dada is suffering from all those ailments. Unfortunately we recently lost one dada from sudden cardiac arrest.

Nowadays, the H group Varanasi training centre for Wts is almost empty. Nobody is going for training. Thus no new blood is entering our Wt ranks. And the Dadas in uniform are mostly obese. Thus we are facing a deficit situation with our workers. We are losing existing workers faster than we are gaining new ones. All in all it is an unfortunate state of affairs.

Margiis are requested to participate in fixing this problem. When you see an such Wt patient then politely try to convince them that their existence is very meaningful and they should cure themselves from this ailment of obesity by strictly adhering to the do’s and don’ts from Guru’s Yogic Treatments book.

In Him,
Raghava

Why honesty is a prime necessity: Ananda Vanii #7

Ananda Vanii states, "In the transitional period of civilization, honesty in individual life is a prime necessity. We shall have to remain ever vigilant that the darkness of petty self-interest may not shroud this supreme human treasure. With the very extinction of honesty, civilization too will not survive; the long sádhaná of the human race will go in vain, and all intellectual achievements will become meaningless. Book knowledge that cannot be utilized in life has no value." (1)

Note: Baba's original and true Ananda Vaniis are unique and eternal guidelines that stand as complete discourses in and of themselves. They are unlike Fake Ananda Vaniis.

Example: Prajina Bharatii Editors Propagating Pseudo-Culture

Baba

Example: Prajina Bharatii Editors
Propagating Pseudo-Culture

Note: This letter has been written according to the standard of Ananda Marga philosophy so those who do not understand the teachings of Ananda Marga philosophy will not be able to understand this letter. In that case,  please avoid it. This can be fully understood only by those who know the fundamentals of Ananda Marga ideology.

Namaskar,
Baba, our Sadguru,  invested a lot of time writing Prabhat Samgiita. His compositions were highly needed. Prior, the devotional songs were not up to our Ananda Marga standard. So, day and night, Baba worked hard to compose the music, write the lyrics, have it recorded, and propagate this to margiis so His disciples could grow spiritually.

All are aware about this history - everyone knows this - how blessed we are to have the treasure of Prabhat Samgiita for our spiritual growth and development.

Unfortunately some are not up to the mark.

Guru's desire is to propagate Ananda Marga philosophy and Prabhat Samgiita etc, and He has designated this magazine - i.e. Prajina Bharatii - as one of the highest vehicles for propagating the ideals of Ananda Marga. But look what happened: These in-charge Dadas of Prajina Bharartii are doing the exact opposite.

Please see below...

Prajina Bharatii misguides sadhakas -
listen to old movie songs for spiritual growth

In the Editorial for Prajina Bharatii #250, the editor recommends listening to “melodious songs of old movies” as a key component for one’s spiritual development. What can be said about this other than it is absolutely unthinkable that the editor - an avadhuta and purodha board member - neglected to mention the purely devotional compositions of Prabhat Samgiita and instead advised listening to pseudo-culture songs from the movies, i.e. Bollywood / Hollywood.

Remember this magazine is designated as the highest, most spiritually uplifting magazine in all of Ananda Marga as it is under the governance of the purodha board. Only those who are tattvikas and above may make contributions to this esteemed periodical. General margiis are not allowed to write for this magazine. So the expectation is that truly spiritually enlightening words shall grace the pages of this magazine. It is designed to be of the highest calibre. But instead the in-charges and editors are filling the magazine with baseless suggestions like listening to “songs of old movies.” It is both shocking and disgraceful.

Sadly, at present, this honourable magazine is under the grip unqualified Wts. Otherwise how to account for the suggestion to use pseudo-culture - i.e. old movie songs - as a means for spiritual growth and development. What to speak of being an acarya, avadhuta, or purodha of Ananda Marga, such a person is acting more like a salesman or broker of the movie industry in Bollywood or Hollywood. It is sad and disappointing.

Sadguru Baba has blessed us with the most sublime songs of spiritual thought and devotional expression, yet these composition are not given an ounce of thought by the editors and instead - with their lowly state of mind - they recommend listening to “songs of old movies.” That is what they advise to enhancing one's spiritual growth and development.

One should not hear those things
that have bad effect on the mind

Here we should bear in mind Guru’s warning:

"“Sádhu Sotena saḿvaro”. Whatever will have bad effect on your mind, O good man, you must not hear it...“Savvatha Saḿvaro Bhikśu.” If you want emancipation, if you want liberation from worldly fetters, you must have all-round restraint." (1)

In His above directive, Sadguru Baba clearly warns us not to listen to those sounds that will degrade the mind.

Thus when "songs of old movies" are full of sensual innuendos and lustful meaning, then as sadhakas we must strictly avoid these movie songs. Yet the editors of Prajina Bharatii are advocating that we listen to such
pseudo-culture movie songs. So their stance is 100% diametrically opposite to Guru's teaching.

Sadguru Baba condemns the
perverted culture of the movie industry

In the below quote from His 1959 discourse, Sadguru Baba is lambasting the movie industry for its perverted approach. The industry only aims to kindle animalistic propensities. And now in 2015, the movie industry has become much, much worse. It is completely debased.

But those depraved songs from the old movies in the 1950's etc were also very bad, that is why in that era Baba spoke out against them:

Ananda Marga social philosophy states, “Seduced by the bestial instincts hidden in the secret recesses of their minds, people surrender to base propensities. But improvements in education and the social environment can help to bring this beast under control and make it obey their commands. To achieve this the first thing people have to do is to wage war against their animal propensities, which is no easy task. So cunning exploiters, by encouraging animality, are able to bring people under their sway.”
“The cinema industry suffers from this malady. This industry is controlled by a handful of business persons who make films according to popular taste and demand. While ordinary people naturally run after those films which in their ideas, language or visual images cater to their base propensities, such ideas, language or images instantly distort the ideals of the idealist beyond recognition. It is quite in character for purely commercial film producers to exploit these human weaknesses to their own advantage, and this is exactly what is happening. Generally youngsters outnumber older people at movies marked “A” (“For Adults Only”). Sometimes the words “For Adults Only” are so alluringly displayed that young people feel even more attracted.” (2)

Thus, when Sadguru Baba has made such a strong stand against the commercial film industry in those days, it is shocking that our own purodhas, those who are supposed to be of an exalted state of mind, are giving a lowly suggestion that is opposite to Guru's position.

What could account for such an indiscretion by our top most acaryas?

The problem is that those Dadas became the editors of the esteemed Prajina Bharatii magazine not because of their lofty state of mind, but because of their "other abilities." By becoming a stooge of Rudrananda they got the post. They were undeserving candidates yet now they run Prajina Bharatii.

And now if anyone complains about the dealing of these editors then Rudrananda and his inner cabinet will not care. Rather they will victimise those who do not fully support those magazine editors.

All in all it is shameful - if you think deeply - then anger and frustration comes how these purodhas are supposedly so dedicated, yet look at the mess they are making by contravening Guru's guideline.

That is why the only way left is for margiis and readers to complain and stop purchasing that magazine. If many take a strong stand then those editors will be forced to be more change their approach. So your voice is a meaningful one - don't by the magazine. Instead save your money and save yourself from negative microvita.

Namaskar,
in Him,
Jagannath

Note 1: Prajina Bharatii No. 250 Editorial

Here below is what the Prajina Bharatii editors wrote in their Editorial for magazine #250:

"melodious songs of old movies, natural sounds (chirping of birds, moving breeze, waterfall, river water flowing, rainfall, shaking of tree leaves etsc). These sounds give inner joy and elevation to mind and calm down a distractive and tense mind."

If you would like a copy of their entire Editorial let us know.

Note 2: Some examples of old movie songs
for those who do not know such songs

Below are samples of the types of songs that these Prajina Bharati magazine editors recommen in their Editorial:

(A) old movie song Hindi
(B) traditional Indian devotional song
(C) famous American movie song from the 1960’s

All these things PB editors are encouraging margiis to bring into their routine to heighten spiritual life and become one with Parama Purusa and get enlightenment.

It seems such editors forgot what they learned about spirituality. Even a child on the path knows that such songs will not help in any way. For your own confirmation please see these below songs:

Below is an extremely popular and famous devotional song of India that PB editors are talking about in their editorial when they refer to “devotional songs.” So they are not only talking about old movie songs but also Indian devotional songs. If they had meant Prabhat Samgiita they would have written as such instead they talk about devotional songs like this one below.

Jai Ganesh, Jai Ganesh, Jai Ganesh Deva
Mata jaki Parvati, pita Mahadeva.

Glory to You, O Lord Ganesha!
Born of Parvati, daughter of the Himalayas, and the great Shiva.

Ek dant dayavant, char bhuja dhari
Mathe par tilak sohe, muse ki savari
Pan chadhe, phul chadhe, aur chadhe meva
Ladduan ka bhog lage, sant kare seva.

O Lord of compassion, You bear a single tusk, four arms,
A vermilion mark of on your forehead, and ride on a mouse.

People offer you betel leaves, blossoms, fruits
And sweets, while saints and seers worship You.

Jai Ganesh, Jai Ganesh, Jai Ganesh Deva,
Mata jaki Parvati, pita Mahadeva...

Glory to You, O Lord Ganesha!
Born of Parvati, daughter of the Himalayas, and the great Shiva.

Andhan ko ankh det, kodhin ko kaya
Banjhan ko putra det, nirdhan ko maya
Surya shaam sharan aye, safal kije seva.

You bestow vision on the blind, chastened body on the leprous,
Children to the sterile, and wealth on the destitute.
We pray to Thee day and night, please bestow success upon us.

Jai Ganesh, Jai Ganesh, Jai Ganesh Deva,
Mata jaki Parvati, Pita Mahadeva...

Glory to You, O Lord Ganesha!
Born of Parvati, daughter of the Himalayas, and the great Shiva.

Ganpati Bappa Morya.!!!

(C) Example of American movie song (1967)
for those who do not know

Chain of Fools - 1967
Aretha Franklin

Chain of fools
For five long years
I thought you were my man
But I found out
I'm just a link in your chain
You got me where you want me
I ain't nothin' but your fool
Ya treated me mean
Oh you treated me cruel
Chain, chain, chain
(Chain, chain, chain)
Chain of fools
Every chain, has got a weak link
I might be weak yeah
But I'll give you strength
Oh, hey
You told me to leave you alone
My father said, "Come on home"
My doctor said, "Take it easy"
Oh but your lovin' is much too strong
I'm added to your
Chain, chain, chain
(Chain, chain, chain)
Chain, chain, chain
(Chain, chain, chain)
Chain, chain, chai-i-in
(Chain, chain, chain)
Chain of fools
One of these mornings
The chain is gonna break
But up until the day
I'm gonna take all I can take, oh hey
Chain, chain, chain
(Chain, chain, chain)
Chain, chain, chain
(Chain, chain, chain)
Chain, chain, chai-i-in
(Chain, chain, chain)
Chain of fools
Chain, chain, chai-i-in
Chain, chain, chain
Chain, chain, chai-i-in
Chain of fools

Conclusion

This letter discussed that (a) for spiritual growth the PB editors did not mention Prabhat Samgiita, and (b) those PB editors advise that old movie songs and Indian devotional songs will help in spiritual attainment.

What signifies the real progress of universal humanity

"Human history today has reached such a transitional phase that universal humanity, forgetting all spatial, temporal and personal differences, shall have to move, hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder towards the new dawn with rapid steps. Humanity must respond to this call. With the reddish glow of the dawn, the collective body, mind and soul will be radiant with joy. And that alone will be the real progress of universal humanity, the firm establishment of unified humanism." (1)

Falsehood of central board member

Namaskar,
As we all know, Prajina Bharati is one of the esteemed magazines in our Ananda Marga. Such periodicals and publications are for spreading the divine teachings of our Sadguru Baba, Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji.

Yet instead of highlighting Baba, one avadhuta stole Baba’s words and published them in his own name. That is the injustice and sinful dealing that occurred in the Prajina Bharatii magazine - consecutive no. #247.

Specifically Satyashrayananda ji wrote one or paragraphs himself and then stole Guru’s entire discourse / article on diabetes from the Ananda Marga Yogic Treatments book and then Dada published it in his own name.

Thus, Dada Satyashreyananda has taken Baba’s Yogic Treatment book (Hindi edition) and published the entire Diabetes chapter in his own name. Just here and there Dada sprinkled and inserted some of his own words and then put his own name at the top of the article. Yet it is Guru’s discourse.

Furthermore, to befool others in one paragraph Satyashrayananda ji mentions Guru’s name but then never uses quotation marks and gives the false impression that he paraphrased just one paragraph from Guru and the whole rest of the article he wrote himself. But that is completely wrong. Satyashrayananda ji hijacked Guru’s entire article / discourse and published it in his own name. That is the thievery / plagiarism that is going on.

Today avadhuta stole a paragraph
tomorrow Satyashrayananda ji will steal entire book

Some naive persons may think, “What is wrong – that is fine – he just took a chapter from Baba’s book – that is ok.” But if we allow Satyashrayananda ji to steal an entire discourse today, then tomorrow we may find that he or another Dada has published Guru’s entire book – Idea & Ideology – in his own name. And the following week another avadhuta might publish “Ananda Marga: Elementary Philosophy” in his own name. This is the domino effect that will ensue.

Thus we should be vigilant at the outset and not allow such avadhutas to steal Guru’s words and publish Guru’s original writings in their own name.

Plagiarism:Satyashrayananda ji must be held accountable

The world of the written word abides by certain codes and ethics. What Avadhuta S has done is not the norm – rather it is deception, the worst crime in the publishing world.

Avadhuta S. should be held accountable and liable for stealing Guru’s words and writing them as his own. Others may be curious about Satyashrayananda ji's motivation. The agreed upon reply is that Dadaji is posing as an intellectual and that’s why he stole. Indeed this is both a crime (theft) and a sin (betrayal to Guru).

As an avadhuta, when he is using Baba’s quote discourse he should feel proud to tell that this precious article has been given by his Guru. This is what a standard disciple will do. A true disciple will feel proud to tell that this is his Guru’s direct teaching.

Here is the paragraph avadhuta S.
stole from Guru's discourse

For your information and review, here is how the stolen Hindi section was published in Prajina Bharati. That means, the below excerpt from Baba’s discourse “Diabetes”, is the Hindi version of what Dada Satya’shraya’nanda stole and published in his own name in magazine article in Prajina Bharatii # 247. See the below scans.

For English readers if you scroll down beneath the scan there are excerpts from the English version of the Diabetes chapter.

A’ca’rya Satya’shraya’nanda Avt stole Baba’s entire chapter on diabetes and
here for convenience I share a small sampling of what he stole...

Causes

It is not always the case that sugar is present in the urine of diabetes patients. Diabetes with sugar in the urine is called somaroga or madhumeha. Diabetes without sugar is called mútrátisára or udakameha.

The debility of the mańipura cakra(1) is the main cause of diabetes. Amongst the pancreatic juices, one secretion helps in the digestion of food, and another separates the sugar content from non-vegetarian and starchy types of food. The sugar is then stored in a particular section of the liver and according to body requirements it is dissolved to generate heat and vital power to run the body mechanism. Chronic indigestion, constipation (here also the stool usually turns into pellets), mental exertion without any physical labour, use of intoxicants, and excessive seminal waste – all weaken the vitality of the liver. When such weakening takes place, the sugar contents of the food, failing to find a storage place in the liver, are assimilated into the blood and gradually accumulate. As a result, the blood gets polluted and loses its immune properties to a great extent. The natural reaction of the body in such a situation is to try to purify the blood by separating out its sugar content and expelling it with the urine. To dissolve the sugar, the human body needs plenty of water, and that is why diabetes patients suffer from a continuous thirst. Sugar emitted with the urine in a large quantity gradually reduces the vital energy of diabetes patients. (Yogic Treatments)

Treatment

Morning – Utkśepa Mudrá, Karmásana, Agnisára Mudrá, Upaviśt́a Ud́d́ayana Mudrá, Jánushirásana and Ágneyii Mudrá or Ágneyii Práńáyáma.

Evening – Yogamudrá, Diirgha Prańáma, Bhújauṋgásana, Pashcimottánásana, Bhastrikásana and Agnisára Mudrá. (Yogic Treatments)

Here above are Baba’s original words from His chapter on “Diabetes.” Avadhuta S lifted (i.e. stole) this entire chapter from Baba’s book and tried to present it as his own in the magazine Prajina Bharati #247.

Dadaji’s name is Satya’shraya’nanda
but actually he is Mithya’shraya’nanda

The name of the Dadaji who stole Guru’s chapter on diabetes is Satya’shraya’nanda (meaning the one who takes shelter in satya), but by his actions it is clear that he is actually Mithya’shraya’nanda - meaning the one who takes shleter in falsehood.

The Dada who plagiarized Baba’s words and committed this sin of stealing the Diabetes chapter of Baba’s Yogic Treatments book is Ac Satya’shraya’nanda Avt. The above appears in Satya’shraya’nanda’s article “Movement against diabetes” in Prajina Bharati #247.

Dada Satya’shraya’nanda is a thief. The meaning of his avadhuta name means that he has taken shelter in satya, but by his actions it is evident that Dadaji has taken shelter in deceit and falsehood - not satya.

These people are also responsible

These below Dadas are the in-charges of Prajina’ Bha’ratii (प्रज्ञा भारती) so they must also be taken to task for allowing Baba’s words to be stolen and printed in the name of Satya’shraya’nanda ji.

Brahmananda

Note: Margiis should be aware about this

Margiis should be aware about the tendencies of these few Dadas because they will come and even steal things from your house. More about this is discussed in the ensuing letter.

False things in Prajina Bharatii

False things in Prajina Bharatii

Namaskar,
In issue no. 247, Dada S is propagating that more than 50% of the world’s population is suffering from diabetes and he furthermore tells that he is one of those patients / victims. According to Dadaji, the number of diabetic patients is approximately 3.7 billion. Here it should be noted that one billion means one thousand million. But according to the International Diabetes Federation there are an estimated 381 million people with diabetes. Thus Dada’s stated figure is grossly overblown. Dada was off by 3.3 billion - so he was completely wrong - not even close.

How did such a false figure get propagated?

The root cause is this: Dada Rudranandji placed his bootlickers in the post. And those bootlickers were utterly incompetent and unable to do the job. Thus the work could not be done properly.

Now read for yourself how Dada S made such a gross error. Those who read Hindi should see in this black box, i.e. black background with white font. There in Devanagari script, it is written in Hindi that the majority of people in the world suffer from diabetes.

The Dada person who wrote this and made such a claim is Dada Satya’shraya’nanda and at the time of printing he was holding the post of publisher / subscription of Prajina Bharatii. Not only that he is an acarya board member.

These people are also responsible

These below Dadas are the in-charges of Prajina’ Bha’ratii (प्रज्ञा भारती) so they must also be taken to task for allowing gross error too:

Re: Dirty ritual still thriving

Namaskar
Keep in mind one should never take food during a death ..vigil. The grief effects the food.all food is rendered tamasic. I never take food...when consoling the family of the deceased. Rather...try and see to thir needs. Should food be there...yes if the family so desires..so the family doesn't have an extra psychological burden that they did not feed those who came.

Yes the bhukti should carry the costs..of funeral and food.

Many countries bury their dead ..which is a practice that is changing to cremation. Wasted land...tomb stones with inscriptions..costs to purchase caskets ..embalming costs and costs to maintain the graves are way over the top. Here in Amerca..it's not unheard of to pay 20,000 dollars for a funeral. Even cremation alone can cost  5 or 6 thousand dollars. Can this wastefulness be supported ?

The body lies in a cooler for ten days waiting in line for cremation.

BABA has said that cremation of the body should be as fast as possible.

With the help of the Lord a new body is given according to samskaras. So a speedy cremation is important.
"when you run out of gas and cannot do any more work God gives you a new tractor"

Oh yes..in Germany where land isn't in plenty...they dig up the deceased after one hundred years cremate the casket and remains..and re sell the grave site. Capitalism knows no bounds.

In time the whole earth will be filled with graves.
Cremation is the only way to dispose of the dead.

O' Parama Purusa, You came in countless rhythms,
dancing and smiling, smiling and dancing

"Ayuta chande ese chile tumi,nácite nácite hásite hásite,..." (PS #146)

Purport:

O' Parama Purusa, with the resonance of melody and in the manana [1] of my heart, and the jingling of the ankle bell [2], You came in countless rhythms, dancing and smiling, smiling and dancing.

You came with the resonance of melody; You came with the manana of my heart, You came with the jingling of the angel bell. O' Lord you came, You came with the resonance of melody, O' Lord You came.

You came with the manana of my heart, O' Lord. You came with the jingling of the ankle bell. O' Lord, with the resonance of melody, and in the manana of my heart, O' Lord You came. In the manana of my heart, and the jingling of the ankle bell, O' Lord You came.

If I blossom as a flower on the branch, then You become fragrance and fill me always. If I become the distant sky, then You become blue and fill me always. [3] O' Lord, You fill me always. As a blue color You always envelop me.

If I become the distant sky, then You become blue and fill me always. O' Lord, You fill me always. You surround me from all the directions, You came in countless rhythms, dancing and smiling, smiling and dancing.

O' Baba, I am never alone. You are always with me, no matter what. You are ever gracious, I surrender at Your lotus feet...

Notes for Prabhat Samgiita #146:

[1] Manana: The contemplation or ideation of the Supreme Entity by repeating the Lord's name in the mind. This special process Baba has described in-depthly in His various teachings of Ananda devotional and spiritual life.

[2] Jingling of the Ankle Bell: This song carries great symbolic meaning and is the poetic expression of what the sadhaka feels in dhyana. So the "ankle bell" is not a physical bell attached to one's ankle nor does it refer to some type of bell that Parama Purusa is wearing around His foot. Rather when the sadhaka realises and feels the proximity of Parama Purusa in deep dhyana, then one hears this ankle bell sound within. That is the meaning of this metaphor in the song. One hears this ankle bell sound when in His close proximity. The phrase - Parama Purusa has come with His ankle bell - is just a poetic expression that holds greater symbolic meaning.

“The rhythm in which the vibrational flow of the cosmic mind vibrates the annamáya kośa of individual microcosms – veins, nerves, arteries, blood, lymph, etc. – is the initial stage of the divine cosmic sound. When this sound is heard in the anamáya kośa it resembles that of a cricket. When this cosmic sound vibrates the kámamaya kośa it resembles the sound of ankle bells. In the manomaya kośa it resembles a flute; ... in atimánasa kośa, the resonance of a gong; in vijiṋánamaya kośa the buzzing of bees or the rolling of ocean waves; and in hirańmaya kośa, a prolonged oṋḿ sound. Thus the cosmic sound is expressed in various ways according to the degrees of crudity or subtlety in relation to the fundamental factors. There are various physical and psychic expressions centring around the various degrees of cosmic sound. When one’s mind is confined to a particular stratum one hears the sound peculiar to that stratum only. A person who lacks concentration of mind cannot hear any expression of the cosmic sound. In the field of spiritual practice the divine sound is expressed in a spontaneous way.” (AMIWL-6, The Expansion of the Microcosm) [from Veńu / Flute]

[3] Two More Metaphors: The metaphor of the sky and its blue color indicates how they are inseparable. The sky and blueness cannot be made distinct from one another. The two are inextricably inter-linked. In the same way the devotee and Parama Purusa are inseparable. Similarly, the flower cannot be separated from its fragrance; where there is a the flower there is fragrance and where there is flower fragrance there is the flower. The two are completely part and parcel of each other. Here again this refers to the inherent link between the Lord and the bhakta. Parama Purusa is always with the devotee - one cannot remain separate from the other. Parama Purusa comes with His omnkara dhvani (eternal sound) the bhakta gets attracted and merges in Him.

Worthless disciples, mistreating Guru

Note 1: This letter is not for those who do not have reverence for Guru, Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji. Those who cannot use their rational mind should not read this email. This is an important issue for the glory of Guru. Here we present the hard facts.

Note 2: In tantra, out of deep reverence, every disciple does sastaunga pranam to Guru. Sastaunga pranam is done by prostrating before Guru. And this pranam is not done to anybody else - only Guru. By this way one can understand that Guru gets utmost respect - above all. This letter is for true tantric disciples.

Namaskar,
Recently one incident took place that undermines the most foundational point of tantra - the status of Guru.

As every disciple knows, in our Ananda Marga only Brahma is the Guru.

3-9. Brahmaeva gururekah náparah.
[Only Brahma is the guru, no one else.]

Purport: Brahma alone is the guru. Brahma alone directs the units to the path of emancipation through the media of different receptacles or bodies. No one except Brahma conforms to the real significance of the word “guru”. (1)

And here again we can understand that Brahma has come in the name and form of Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji.

"The one formless, beginningless and infinite Parama Brahma (Supreme Consciousness) is the only entity to be attained by living beings – That alone is Jagat Guru (the Supreme preceptor), That alone has revealed Brahmavidyá (intuitional science) to us through the medium of the name and form of Anandamúrtijii. Unit beings must be made to appreciate Its majesty." (2)

So Baba is the Guru and we are all His disciples, including PP dada. Thus all must have reverence for Guru.

See above photo:
Vishvadevananda is sitting higher

Yet at the recent Ananda Nagar summer DMS 2015, one grave sin was done. Here is what occurred: Purodha Pramukha, i.e. Dada Vishvadevananda ji, appeared on stage at the DMS sitting on an elevated seat that was higher than Guru's place. PP Dada was veritably blocking the photo of Rev Baba. The image is above for your review.

By placing PP Dada's seat higher than Sadguru Baba's place they are not just violating a social code but committing sin. To cast PP Dada or any human being on a pedestal higher than Guru is mahapapa - terrible sin.

Yet that is what occurred at the 2014 summer DMS at Ananda Nagar: PP Dada's seat was higher than Baba's place.

Those involved are sinners and hypocrites. They pose as being great sadhakas wholly devoted to Guru, yet their actions and dealing tell otherwise. Raising the status of PP dada above that of Guru reveals their mindset and true colours. No true devotee could ever do like this.

So first such central dadas are committing sin and then sending this about photo out to the various newspapers.

Jacking him up to reap the benefits

Certain key group leaders and handlers are trying to jack up PP Dada's image in order to reap the benefits. PP Dada is himself a stooge so he has no say in the matter.

It is disrespectful to Guru

Everyone should consider and understand that the DMS organisers themselves published and submitted this photo to the newspaper(s). Some naive people do not realise that the DMS authorities took this photo have been using it to propagate their event.

This has nothing to do with taking the photo from a particular angle or vantage point. This is the official photo of the event. So this has nothing to do with trick photography - this the real deal. They truly did jack up PP Dada seat above Sadguru Baba's photo.

They gloat that their faction is the real Ananda Marga but look what they are doing.

Photo taken by Rudranandji's stooges
and distributed to newspapers

They wanted to publicise this to the whole world: That now Vishvadevananda is the news guru of Rudranandaji, and thus Baba’s status is lower than Vishvadevananda. That is why they have PP Vishvadevananda sitting on a higher seat. Their action shows this - what further proof is needed. This work of taking the photo and giving to the newspapers for the whole world to see was not done by some third party like communists; rather this was done by Dada Rudranandji’s stooges.

Mentality is pathetic and shameful

Stooges of Rudrananda jii (AMPS central) made the photo with the aim to present Baba’s status lower than PP’s status because Dada Rudrananda jii, with his ulterior motive, wants to show that now PP Dada is sitting on throne. So PP Dada is the authority of divine power so Rudrananda can rule from behind the scene.

By their dealing, they are worse than animals. Dada Rudrananda ji wants to convince the whole world about the glory of the new guru of Rudrananda - i.e. PP Dada. Those in Centre want to project PP Dada’s status as being higher than Baba’s status. So AMPS central is showing how they do not give respect to Guru Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji because now Vishvadevananda is the guru. This type of mentality is pathetic and shameful.

In Him,
Liila Shankar

Note 1: Solution: ideal way of displaying Baba's photo -
Preserving sanctity of Guru's photo

As we know, in our dharmacakra halls and jagrtis etc, Guru's photo must be prominently displayed at all times - with due reverence and regard. Best then is to have two photos on display - one lower (around 4 feet off ground), and one higher (around 7 feet off the ground.)

If everyone is sitting in sadhana or Guru Puja then both photos should be displayed. Because everyone is low to the ground and no one will block or disrespect Guru's image.

And if someone is standing or giving a talk, or if akhanda kiirtan is being done, then the lower photo, which is only four feet off the ground, should either be turned around or covered by a small curtain. That way those standing will not block or hover over Guru's photo. At the same time, the higher photo - which is around 7 feet above the ground - will be in full view of all. Those standing will have no chance of blocking that photo. Thus the sanctity of Guru's photo will be maintained and the devotional environment preserved.

At DMS PP Dada should be sitting lower and Revered Baba's photo must be several feet above the seat of PP Dada. Baba's photo must not be below the seat of PP Dada as happened at the summer DMS 2015 at Ananda Nagar - see above photo.

The central idea is that at our Marga gatherings Saguru Baba's photo must be, at  minimum, several feet above the seat of PP Dada.

Note 2: Reverence for Guru

"Trtiiyam' gurupújanam. I must have reverence for the guru. What is the guru? Gu means “darkness”, that is, darkness in the psycho-spiritual sphere. And ru means “dispelling agent”. That is, he who dispels darkness from my psychic and spiritual body is the guru. Gu means “darkness”, ru means “dispeller”. “Trtiiyaḿ gurupújanam. That is, you must have respect for the guru." (3)

Thus every sadhaka must cultivate great reverence for Guru, by His grace. That is the requisite quality of every disciple.

Note 3: Best seat is always reserved for the most respected

So these Dadas have contravened a basic, fundamental rule that even ordinary citizens follow. At any gathering, the best seat is always reserved for the most respected person. At conventions, the president gets the best seat; at forums, the invited speaker gets the best seat; at weddings, a special place is reserved for the bride and groom. But, this basic ethic the Ananda Nagar summer DMS organisers could not follow.

Why Kolkata group is after Ac Maniishananda Avt
Namaskar,
First time in the history of AMPS, it was Ac Maniishananda Avt who detected that Kolkata publication department has been distorting Baba discourses knowingly and unknowingly.  After distortion disclosure, Kolkata group blamed dada Maniishananda for some petty things and ultimately expelled him on 30 th Nov 1995. Kolkata group distorts the discourses but does not like to admit their wrongdoing and instead tries to justify their dealing through some phony excuses and fairy tales.

Remember these are the types of people who hid their hideous groupism and unideological dealings from margiis and then expelled Dada Maniishanandji for pointing out the truth about what they were doing. Indeed they wanted to kidnap and finish him.

And now when others are pointing out mistakes in their publications, then those same Dadas are hiding behind their bogus excuse that Dada Maniishanandji stole the cassettes. Such persons are useless and worthless. If they were honest they would accept their mistake and appreciate the publications corrections that are being offered. But instead with their crooked and devious mind, they concoct stupid stories even when they know they themselves are in the wrong.

Really should we anticipate that such scoundrels are going to praise us for pointing out the scriptural distortions. Only an utter fool would expect this. These people are up to no good and nature will not spare them.

They are traitors to Guru and they are ruining His scripture. And when others point out their wrongdoing, then these people create silly stories about why they could not do the job properly. They are fake and insincere. They are so used to cheating and exploiting others that they gave up the responsibility of telling the truth long ago.

All they care about is their own image and their own power - neither Baba’s teachings nor AM publications. Just they are in it for their own self-interest. Such persons are really hypocrites; they are born sinners.

Really we should expect or anticipate that they will garland us for pointing out their wrongdoing. Here the issue has nothing to do with Dada Maniishanandji. The only issue is that these lowly fellows could not do their allotted job properly so they have concocted bogus stories and excuses in hopes of clearing their name from wrongdoing and deceit. But Cosmic Mind sees and knows all - each and every one of these sinners will meet their fate.

Anyone who seeks praise from such scoundrels is devotionally and intellectually bankrupt. No one should live in this way. If these people were honest then they would accept their mistake. Dada Acyutananda himself says that he himself had that same recording for half a decade but never listened to it. How can we think such a person has interest in his work. Rather his only interest is to make up bogus and illegitimate excuses to hide his hideous and nefarious activities.

Remember, who can forget that the Kolkata faction has strong-armed and eliminated perceived enemies and then denied any involvement whatsoever. Such is the measure of their vindictiveness and conscience. No better example stands as when they directly attacked our own avadhutas and ultimately murdered Ac Abhipremananda Avt. They carried out that attack in cold-blood and showed no remorse. Rather than admit their wrongdoing they came up the alibi that local villagers and footballers were involved. So they are murderers and liars as well. They are shameless and despicable, and a slur on what it means to be an avadhuta in Ananda Marga.

It is just like terrorists blasting bomb and then those same terrorists blaming the local doctors  and security personnel for not saving the people.

Similarly, Kolkata group carried out a heinous attack and then blamed Ranchi group for delaying the treatment. Even terrorists do not do this - neither did they do this in the Bombay attacks nor in the recent Boston bombing. In contrast these B group people are cowards plus demons.

Let me again remind that they employed this same violent tendency in their attempts to attack and finish Dada Maniishanandji. They tried to kidnap him and remove him from this earth on numerous occasions. Only by Baba's grace could Dadaji survive.

None should anticipate that these people are going to learn or change in this lifetime nor should anyone expect any type of glorious or ceremonial type of welcoming from them. These degrading souls are verily demons in human form. These are the lowly and notorious creatures that Baba warns us about - all should beware.
These hypocrites are scoundrels inside and out.
Brotherly Yours,
Ram Kumar

How can we forget S Gopal Shastri of Vizag

Note: This letter addresses how one "senior margii" manipulated a social service project, earned good money by bribing AMURT big bosses, AM central workers, & govt officials, and he deprived the real losers - i.e. those simple, innocent, victims who lost their housing. For these reasons the villagers got a very bad impression about Ananda Marga due to cheating. Here below are all the details.

Namaskar,
The general tradition is that when a person dies then those speaking at the burial ceremony eulogise the deceased. They only glorify that person and talk about the plus points - and even praise that person for qualities which he did not have. That is the general trend.

In contrast, sometimes newspapers present a more balanced view outlining the person's successes and failures. And that is needed, otherwise the common people will not know the truth, and will not be able to learn from that person's mistakes.

How history gets polluted

For instance, if Mr X died and he was a corrupt fellow, yet all hail him as a great sadhu and elevated soul, then those who did not know him will form an incorrect opinion. They will embrace a bad man as a sadhu. Not only that, notorious wrongdoers who are still alive will think that, “If I keep my prestige as long as I am alive, then after my death everything will be ok. So I should just continue exploiting others as I have been doing.”

One of the most detrimental aspects is that when a so-called important citizen dies a glorified announcement is made of his accomplishments - and then the matter is never raised again. In which case, there was no opportunity to render a proper historical record as his mistakes were not brought to light. Ultimately that proves to be harmful as society does not get a chance to learn and grow from those missteps.

As we know, Guru's teaching about history is that it must be presented as a teaching tool so past mistakes are not repeated. And that applies to reviewing the lives of margiis and wts as well.

Shastri pocketed a large percentage
from the pockets of the homeless

Recently, a short, formal announcement was made about the mahaprayan (death) of Shrii Gopal Shastri jii of Vishakapatnam / Vizag. And that was needed as all should be informed when we lose one of our family members. At the same time a review of his life can also shed light on how we Ananda Margiis can improve: That entails emulating his plus points and learning from his defects. And that is what follows herein.

One of the endeavours that Shastriji was involved in was relief work. And this is an important aspect in the life of any Ananda Margii - to help reduce the suffering of others.

During the disaster relief efforts of the cyclone in Andhra Pradesh in the early 1990’s, the government allotted land to relief organisations to construct a colony of pucca, i.e. concrete, houses for those inhabitants who were uprooted because their house was destroyed. And Shastri jii was part of this relief project. He took on the responsibility of overseeing the rebuilding of homes for the very poor inhabitants of that region. Sadly, those persons had lost their hearth and home and so many of their loved ones in this cyclone tragedy. They were in great despair and had no means to recover their lives. They were at the mercy of the society to be able to survive.

Worst construction:
water was profusely seeping into the house

By this shady maneuver, all those suffering people had their homes rebuilt with the lowest grade materials possible. And the outcome was horrible. When it was time for them to move into their rebuilt homes, it was quickly discovered that the roofs were leaking. Here it should be qualified that we are not talking about a simple leak with a small drip. Rather water was seeping into the entire roof and water was falling like it was raining inside the house. Nearly every square inch of the house was affected - all the walls, the entire floor, everywhere. It was not possible to live in such a dwelling - everything just got destroyed by the water, no one could live in that way.

One other thing to note. Generally in India houses are built with flat roofs as there is no issue of snowfall etc. But Shastri employed one trick. He knew he was using poor materials so he order for the roofs to be made in a sloped fashion. His hope was that the sloped roof would shed the water and cover up his shoddy construction. But he had applied so much sand to the concrete that the sloped roof could not make up the difference. All those houses leaked terribly.

AMURT houses sold to rich people,
the poorest victims got nothing

In turn, so many philanthropic people of India & foreign countries through AMURT funded the rebuilding of their community and Shastri jii was the head of one of those relief efforts. Big money came into his hands which he was entrusted with for getting the work done. But instead of taking care of the situation in an organised and upstanding manner, Shastri jii  allegedly informed AMURT big bosses that due to lack of funds he was unable to complete the project. And he was given approval for collecting money - i.e. 5000rupees - from the poor people who were on the initial list of those who lost their homes due to the cyclone. In this situation some rich people purchased two or three houses by paying good amounts to Shastri jii . Thus rich people were awarded the houses, not the poor people enlisted by the government from the very beginning.

The exact amount collected by Shastri jii  is not known to anybody. He bribed government officials and AMURT big bosses. Then he completed the roof construction of all 108 houses in this project constructed in Regupalem, Yelamanchili  Visakhapatnam.

He stole money of homeless victims

Here is a key example of one thing Shastri jii  did. When rebuilding the homes of those impoverished people, instead of using standard grade cement to make a solid structure - he paid off the inspectors so he could add huge amounts of sand into the concrete mixture. This diluted the concrete and cost much, much less money. So Shastri jii’s  costs were a fraction of what they should have been. This gave him a surplus of funds which he allegedly misdirected into his deep pocket for his luxury expenses etc. Thus real sufferers didn’t get houses, other fake poor people. People started selling houses unofficially.

Public formed poor opinion about Ananda Marga
because impoverished victims were cheated

That happened because proper concrete was not used - rather the sand infested concrete mixture that Shastri jii ordered was porous. In result, the good name of Ananda Marga was dragged through the mud as everyone in that area thought Ananda Margiis were corrupt thieves who cheated the common people.

So those who had already suffered and lost so much now had to deal with a house that had horrible leaks everywhere. And these impoverished people had nowhere to turn to find justice. All the payoffs and bribes were made and the paperwork presented to the government was shined up.

But Shastri jii  employed one trick. He knew he was using poor materials so he order for the roofs to be made in a sloped fashion. His hope was that the sloped roof would shed the water and cover up his shoddy construction. But he had applied so much sand to the concrete that the sloped roof could not make up the difference. All those houses leaked terribly.

In desperation, victims had to pass sleepless nights
with tarps on the leaky roofs of their houses

All those poor people could do was put tarps on the leaky roofs of their houses in hopes that would seal them up. But invariably the wind would blow those tarps away. Yet with no other option, that is the way they carried on.

It is well known that Shastri jii manipulated the project and hoarded huge funds into his own account by bribing AMURT big bosses, AM central workers & government officials. Sadly the real losers were those impoverished families on the government list who were supposed to receive help and support etc. In that end they got nothing due to Shastri jii’s  selfish and deceptive tactics etc. That is why all those villagers got a very bad impression and formed a very poor opinion about Ananda Marga.

A slur on the name of Ananda Marga

And this all happened due to Shastri jii’s  own greed and lack of concern for those whom he was supposed to serve. It was a major debacle and a gross injustice. This is not how our Ananda Marga service projects are supposed to be conducted - rather it was a slur on the name of AMURT.

All should understand that this account is just an honest review of his actions so that such a scene is not repeated in the future. None should let greed and avarice consume them in this way or allow anyone to derail our Ananda Marga social service projects by engaging in immoral and destructive behaviour.

Namaskar,
in Him,
A. Venkat Ramana

Note 1: About Regupalem village -
location of AMURT relief housing project

Regupalem is a Village in Yelamanchili Mandal in Visakhapatanam District of Andhra Pradesh State, India. It belongs to Andhra region. It is located 51 KM towards west from District head quarters Vishakhapatnam and 542 KM from State capital Hyderabad where - under Shastri's leadership - AMURT constructed shady houses for homeless victims of the cyclone.

Note 2: Nutshell of this letter

The summary of this letter is that Shastri ji manipulated the project, earned good money by bribing AMURT big bosses, AM central workers, & govt officials, and he deprived the real losers - i.e. those simple, innocent, victims who lost their housing. For these reasons the villagers got a very bad impression about Ananda Marga due to this incident.

Furthermore, whatever Shastri jii looted, it is alleged that Ac Bhaveshananda Avt, Ac Savitananda Avt, Ac Pranavatmakananda Avt got a pittance offering and that is why they always supported him. It is just like how one rich homeowner, when dining, feeds his three dogs scraps under the table.

Note 3: Death ceremony of Shastri jii and
three dadas planning to meet him in heaven

Because these three Dadas - Ac Bhaveshananda Avt, Ac Savitananda Avt, Ac Pranavatmakananda Avt - were given a pittance they felt obliged and desperate to perform Shastri jii's shraddha ceremony - even though Shastri jii and his family had no interest in the Ananda Marga death ceremony system. But these three Dadas were thinking that one day they will all meet Shartri in heaven and he will again reward them with some pittance.

Note 4: That car used by criminals in kidnapping of Ac Maniisananda Avt

Shastri jii gave his car to the two alleged criminal avadhutas - Ac Raviishananda and Ac Viitamohanananda - as they attempted to kidnap Acarya Maniisananda Avadhuta in October 1995 from the master unit. After the kidnapping, then Raviishananda and Viitamohanananda drove Ac Maniisananda Avt to the Vishakapatnam jagrti. Yet somehow Ac Maniisanandji escaped in the middle of the night Vishakapatnam jagrit, Dadaji literally escaped the jaws of death, by Baba’s grace. Since then, for the last 20 years these blood thirsty criminals have been searching for Ac Maniisananda Avt / Ac Maniishananda Avt. But now that they themselves are in jail so the situation is a little safer for Ac Maniishanandji.

Now those two Dadas - Raviishananda and Viitamohanananda - are sitting in jail for the murder trial of Ac Abhipremananda Avt. These criminals are under arrest in Purulia Central Jail along with other avadhuta criminals.
