Bait kiirtana: drawing attendees

Baba
Bait kiirtana: drawing attendees

Namaskar,

When a fisherman decides to catch some fish, he knows that if he goes and sits by the pond and cries out, “Hey fish, come over here”, then the fish will not come. So the crafty fisherman sits quietly by the side and places bait on a hook and drops it in the water. Due to its naivety, the fish thinks it is a generous feast and foolishly eats the bait and gets trapped.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

The MPD organisers use the bait of 6-day kiirtan to lure margiis to attend and commit sin, unfortunately. Those simple margiis are trusting that the kiirtan offered to them is real, genuine kiirtan. So they go and attend - and get caught in sin.

Yet, the period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days. That is the rule as per Baba’s guideline in Caryacarya.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (1)

Fish, mouse, & elephant

Similarly, when a farmer decides to catch a mouse, the farmer knows that if he goes to the kitchen and cries out, “Hey mouse, come over here”, then the mouse will not come. So the crafty farmer sits quietly by the side after placing bait in a trap in the far corner of the room. Due to its naivety, the mouse thinks it is a generous feast and foolishly eats the bait and gets killed.

Likewise, when poachers decide to catch an elephant, those poachers know that if they go to the jungle and cry out, “Hey elephant, come over here”, then the elephant will not come. So the crafty poachers sit quietly by the side after digging a huge pit, covering it with branches and leaves, and placing bait on top. Due to its naivety, the elephant thinks it is a generous feast and foolishly eats the bait and gets trapped.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

In each of the above cases, the unsuspecting animal thinks that food has been generously offered to them. Due to their naivety, the fish, mouse, and elephant all get lured and caught in the trap - and ultimately killed. There are three basic factors at play: (a) ignorance, (b) trust, and (c) deception or the betrayal of trust.

The mouse is ignorant and does not know that the farmer is not being generous. Same is the case with the fish and elephant. All three animals are ignorant and unable to understand what is going on. So they have full trust that the food is going to be genuine - not bait. But that trust is quickly betrayed when they are trapped and killed.

The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days. That is the rule as per Baba’s guideline in Caryacarya.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (2)

"Hey Ananda Margiis, come & participate in sin..."

When MPD organisers wish to draw people to their annual mahaprayan program they know that if they loudly cry out:

  • “Hey Ananda Margiis, come here to Tiljala, we are going to commemorate an annual death day celebration which is against Caryacarya and we will all incur sin. That is ok because we have to do for our group identity.”
  • “Hey Margiis, come over here, we will eat shraddha food (i.e. death ceremony food) for six days and we will incur sin according to Caryacarya. But that is ok for our group identity.”
  • “Hey Margiis, come donate to the poor on the occasion of this annual death ceremony so it will reach the deceased. By this way, we should commit sin together. We have to do this for our group identity.”
  • “Hey Margiis, we are doing kiirtan for the sole purpose of alluring you to come here and participate in these above three sins. That is the main goal of this day. Kiirtan is just the outer wrapping to allure you. We have to do these things for our group identity, although it is sinful & against pre-1990 Caryacarya.”

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (3)

If the MPD organisers make such declarations beforehand and write this in their brochure, then margiis will not come. It is just like if you say, “Hey mouse, this is a trap and our goal is to kill you; that is the main objective.” If the mouse understands this, that mouse will not come. It will be too scared. So the trapper does not say anything to the mouse, and the mouse is not aware. Ultimately, the mouse comes to the trap, eats the bait, and gets killed.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

In a similar fashion, simple margiis do not know this inner motivation of the organisers, and in turn they attend and get trapped in sin:
  • Sin of participating in annual death ceremony;
  • Sin of offering during the death ceremony commemoration;
  • Sin of eating annual death ceremony food.
Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (4)

Just bait to lure naive people

The MPD organisers use the bait of 6-day kiirtan to lure margiis to attend and commit sin, unfortunately. Those simple margiis are trusting that the kiirtan offered to them is real, genuine kiirtan. So they go and attend - and get caught in sin. Because it is not kiirtan; rather it is bait to lure simple people to attend and celebrate an annual dogmatic death-day program and commit sin. Yet some are caught and trapped. Just as those animals trusted the bait and were trapped. By this above analogy, it is clear that what one group is doing nowadays is a trap to lure people into sin.

Those who are alert will run away by seeing that type of kiirtan; they will easily realise it is bait. They will understand and they will never get caught in that sin. Whereas those who do not think deeply will not understand that this kiirtan is bait. And they will get trapped and duped into committing a veritable sin. The reason is that participating in an annual shraddha or annual death day celebration is sinful and against Guru’s guideline of pre-1990 Caryacarya.

The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days. That is the rule as per Baba’s guideline in Caryacarya.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (5)

Conclusion

Can you imagine getting trapped and cajoled into committing sin, i.e. an act that is against bhagavad dharma and contrary to Sadguru’s teachings of pre-1990 Caryacarya. Watch out - our sole duty is to:

(a) Not get trapped in sin:
  • Sin of participating in annual death ceremony;
  • Sin of offering during the death ceremony commemoration;
  • Sin of eating annual death ceremony food.

(b) Save innocent margiis from getting lured and caught in sin.

Animals are animals, and we are humans. We should be able to understand and differentiate between bait food and real food, between bait kiirtan and genuine kiirtan.

What should be done on the 21st?

Every so often the question is raised, "What should be done on October 21?”

Best is to simply follow Caryacarya. Baba guides us that if our own loved one has died, then we should not observe an annual commemoration of their death, thereby plunging the mind into misery and despair. According to Sadguru Baba, on that day, nothing should be done. One should live life as normal. Same is the case with 21st Oct. Nothing should be done. Moreover, in the case of Taraka Brahma Baba, we always feel His blissful presence. In that case, why should we impose the idea that He "departed" that day. It goes against our sadhana and spiritual approach. That is why to maintain a proper ideation and outlook, this occasion of the 21st should just be overlooked and forgotten naturally. One should just go about their normal routine that day.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (8)

Open questions to dada S. - the inventor / father of MPD dogma

Here are some key points everyone should know about the mahaprayan / shraddhainjali dogma:

Attending Tiljala dogma means supporting the cause of annual death day.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Some wrongly justify that, “What is wrong, I am just going to Tiljala for the kiirtana, not for the sake of the mahaprayan program.” Here it should be clear: Going to the annual mahaprayan gathering for the sake of doing kiirtan is a bogus justification. Merely attending that mahaprayan gathering signifies your wholehearted support of that event. The fundamental equation is if anyone is doing anything anywhere and you go to their location and do what they are doing, it means you are supporting their cause. That is the basic formula that can be applied to countless situations.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (9)

Let’s look at this from another angle. Who can forget when Baba was in jail and our Ananda Margii brothers and sisters from all over converged on-site to protest the injustices. Margiis sang kiirtan. And participation in those kiirtan rallies demonstrated support for the greater cause. Those days Jai Prakash Narayan called the police on margiis and had them arrested on the basis that their participation in that kiirtana meant they were the supporters of the political protests against Baba’s incarceration.

Later on, after the rally, that same kiirtan would be sung for purely spiritual purposes during dharmacakra etc. Here the point is that doing kiirtan or raising the slogan at a rally means supporting that issue or cause.

Of late, both H group and B group have used kiirtana programs as a strategy to reclaim and recapture various AMPS buildings for their group cause. And those who participate in that kiirtana are their pawns for their groupist agenda. That is what happened in Goddha, Ananda Nagar, Bhopal, and numerous other places where H and B were battling for control of that jagriti etc. Kiitana programs are their main arsenal for capturing those properties from the opposite group. This happened so many times in the past and will happen in the future also as this is their cherished strategy.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days. That is the rule as per Baba’s guideline in Caryacarya.

In CC I, II, III no annual death day ceremony

The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days. That is the rule as per Baba’s guideline in Caryacarya

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (10)

So by hosting an annual death day / mahaprayan / shraddhainjali prorgram our Dadas are directly contravening Baba’s teaching in Caryacarya.

How margiis were befooled

To impose the mahaprayan dogma, the chief inventor borrowed a page out of the dogmatic religious playbook. For aeons, the dogmatic religions have maintained their grip of power by doctoring their scripture. That means whenever they wanted to convince their followers of any point, then first they would alter their scripture and insert their own agenda. Then they would show that to their followers to convince them. By this way they kept those followers under their thumb. And that is exactly what Sarvatmananda did as Publications Secretary: he inserted the term “mahaprayan” into Ananda Marga scripture.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Baba never spoke or mentioned the word mahaprayan in His discourses. Sarvatmananda intentionally corrupted Ananda Vacanamrtam part 12 to justify his selfish agenda of mahaprayan. Then he cited the mahaprayan term of  Ananda Vacanamrtam part 12 (Bengali edition) and underlined it and highlighted in his MPD propaganda brochures and pamphlets and told that, “Look, Baba Himself used the term mahaprayan in AV-12.” This is how Sarvatmananda befooled Bangla-speaking, village margiis.

Of course, Baba never spoke the term “mahaprayan” in His discourses as this was Sarvatmananda’s own insertion.

Verily, Sarvatmananda pranced about showing this bogus mahaprayan term to margiis all around and some got convinced. They did not realise that this is not Baba’s term - rather Sarvatmananda slyly inserted his dirt into the Bangla edition of Baba’s Fiesch discourse. This is how Sarvatmananda befooled some margiis and proved that he himself is just a reincarnation of those dogmatic, exploitative priests of old.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (11)

Falsely justifying MPD by deception

The dogmatic leaders and inventors of the shraddhainjali / mahaprayan (মহাপ্রয়াণ)  / tomb worship dogma, repeatedly resort to a particular quote when justifying the existence of their annual tomb day ceremony. Dadas want to prove that the mahaprayan term is God’s command - God’s term. To prove that, our Dadas found one pravacan of Fiesch and Wts said that in this discourse the term mahaprayan has been used so it is a holy term and the mahaprayan function is approved. In this way Sarvatmananda’s stooges brainwashed Bengali-speaking margiis.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Táraka Brahma comes here on a particular date, leaves this earth also on a particular date, takes the birth of His quinquelemental body, the death of His quinquelemental body." (12)

The above quote was originally delivered by Baba in English. So those cunning MPD dogmatic leaders translated the above teaching in Bangla and inserted the term mahaprayan in association with Táraka Brahma. This was their scheme or ploy to try and validate the mahaprayan programme. Dadas lay claim that Baba Himself used the term mahaprayan. But that is outrightly false. Sarvatmananda dada manipulated the translation and inserted the term “mahaprayan” in hopes of befooling people into thinking that mahaprayan is really something legit - when really it is just one awful ritual.

Shraddhainjali is never done for the Supreme Entity who is ever-present. Rather, the shraddhainjali dogma is done for mortals in non-margii society. It is not approved by Ananda Marga philosophy. Shraddhainjali is not in the pre-1990 Caryacarya book and Sadguru Baba rejects this dogmatic shraddhainjali / yearly offering to the deceased. The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days. That is the rule as per Baba’s guideline in Caryacarya.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (13)

Howling wolf scenario

In the below photo, a wolf is howling and crying out because it has stepped in a hunter’s trap that has caught its front left paw. Basically, the hunter put some food by the trap and the wolf unsuspectingly went to eat it not knowing that the trap would ensnare its paw. So the naive wolf was lured toward the trap and caught. That is how cunning hunters entrap these wolves. The hunter knew that if he just called, "Hey wolf, come here" then it would not work. The trapper understood that if he did not put food out as bait and then hid quietly in the bushes, then he would not have been able to catch the wolf.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com

Similarly the MPD organisers do not say, “Hey Margiis, we are doing kiirtan for the sole purpose of alluring you to come here and participate in these three sins. That is the main goal of this day. Kiirtan is just the outer wrapping to allure you. We have to do these things for our group identity, although it is sinful & against pre-1990 Caryacarya.”

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (14)

If the MPD organisers make such declarations beforehand and write this in their brochure, then margiis will not come. It is just like if you say, “Hey wolf, come here" then it would not work.

The innocent animal trapped in the photo represents a simple Ma'rgii. The food used as bait by the hunter to trap the animal in the trap represents kiirtana. The trap in the photo which grabbed the animal's leg is the sin of the annual death ceremony. By the trap, the animal will die. And by taking part in this negative dogma of MPD, the ma'rgiis get submerged in sin.

Strong vibrations: sometimes a curse and other times a boon

Ananda Marga ideology states, "The stamina to stand vibrations differs in different people. Hence various degrees of happiness or sorrow are experienced by different people, and these differences depend on their respective mental constitutions. The subtle causes of these different mental constitutions are their acquired samskáras or reactive momenta, and the crude causes are their nerve cells, nerve tissues, glandular secretions, etc. The sudden vibrational impact on the body and mind makes the mind react violently, resulting in the cessation of the cardiac functions. This also explains the death of a person struck by lightning. The sudden contact of the eyes with an extremely dazzling radiance often results in the total impairment of vision. If we look directly at the brilliant sun for a few moments, our visual power becomes temporarily stunned and we cannot see anything for some time. Similarly, when some very high pitched or loud sound strikes the eardrum, the power of hearing may be destroyed. The sensitivity of every organ may be suspended by the impact of any violent vibration; this stupefaction, if the intensity of the vibrational impact is very great, may even become permanent. Yet sometimes powerful vibrations may help stimulate and restore the power of organs which have not been functioning for years. You must have heard of a person who had been blind or deaf and dumb since his childhood, regaining the lost power of his impaired organs in his latter years either by stroke of lightning or by being suddenly informed of an extremely happy or sad news." Annual program: adopted from Islam + 2 more

    Baba
    Annual program: adopted from Islam

    Namaskar,

Here below is the mahaprayan commemoration of one Muslim person, Mahaprayan of Abdul Kasim Fazlul Haq. So the mahaprayan function is not something godly.

In this particular mahaprayan observance, the article and photo are highlighting Abdul Kasim Fazlul Haq (born 1873, died 27 April 1962). So this is the 76th annual observation of Abdul Kasim Fazlul Haq’s mahaprayan, i.e. annual death day ceremony or shraddhainjali. The followers of Islam perform the yearly mahaprayan function / shraddha'injali.
    https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Sadly, some have been led into believing that the mahaprayan / shraddha'injali program is something divine for Sadguru. However, the truth is something very different. In India and the so many lands that use the Sanskrit language, mahaprayan signifies the death of regular human beings.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (1)

Every Ananda Margii should be clear on this point: Mahaprayan is the observance of xyz’s death etc. So the mahaprayan of every citizen is observed.

The mahaprayan term is highlighted three times in Bengali script in the below title / article - twice in yellow and once in orange. If you type this word into the internet search engine you will find this article.

    Mahaprayan #37.png

Nothing should be done that day

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (2)

The all-knowing Mahasambhuti has not given any chapter on what to do on the day that He leaves His physical body. That itself is proof that on the day He left His physical body nothing should be done. Otherwise, Mahasambhuti would surely have given something to be done on that day.
    https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Bear in mind, Caryacarya-1 chapter 32 details how our Ananda Marga shra'ddha ceremony is meant only for human beings. Applying that to Mahasambhuti was and is demeaning. Yet we all know that from 1990 and many, many years thereafter, the mahaprayan leaders used the “Omn madhu” shra'ddha ceremony mantra for Mahasambhuti. That was completely inappropriate and sinful. Because that mantra and that ceremony are for humans, not for Mahasambhuti.

    Ananda Margiis think

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (3)

So I ask you: Pause and think. This letter is not about groupism; this is a devotional issue. Guru is being abused. Don't you think Guru is with you always? In the tantra of Ananda Marga, sadhana starts with this feeling that, "Guru is with me." One must have this basic feeling. So naturally every Ananda Margii thinks their Sadguru is with them. Then why are we allowing this dogmatic annual death ceremony, i.e. mahaprayan / shraddha'injali.
    https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Dogmatic disciples apply that dogma to Guru

Beloved Baba is the eternal Sadguru, yet the mahaprayan organisers are treating Him like one mortal who died.

Sadguru Baba is against the annual mahaprayan / shraddha'injali / death day / shra'ddha dogma. In Caryacarya, Guru has given the directive that there must not be an annual mahaprayan / shraddha'injali / death day / shra'ddha.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (4)

But look at what is unfolding in AMPS. An annual death day anniversary program - i.e. mahaprayan / shraddha'injali - was dragged into our AMPS. And what to speak of 12 days, it has been going on for 36 years. How ironic: The very function of annual mahaprayan (i.e. shraddha'injali program, death day ceremony, shra'ddha etc), Guru has condemned, yet those MPD organisers are doing His annual death day observance.
    https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

    In Him,
    Ishvar
    Inayatullah

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (5)

As we know, the concept of so-called mahaprayan is something very mundane; it signifies the death of a human being; it is a common phenomenon across the Indian subcontinent.

As evidenced above (see image & caption) and in this series of letters, the program of mahaprayan is everywhere; it is widely observed for the death of a human. It is not something divine. It is not something for the eternal Sadguru.

All should be aware that the mahaprayan program is not a new phenomenon that started in 1990. For ages and ages, so many humans have had their mahaprayan. Since the Sanskrit language came into existence - thousands of years ago - the concept of mahaprayan conveys the idea of the death of a human being.

    Self-engrossed Wt gave up asanas

    Namaskar,

Asanas are the ideal exercise to perfect the human body.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “Ásanas are a kind of exercise by regular practice of which the body stays healthy and hardy and many diseases are cured.” (Caryacarya - 3, Ásanas)

But sadly, one avadhuta, Iishvarakrsanananda, has discarded his yogic asanas, kaoshikii, and tandava etc practices and instead nestled all his faith in western gym workouts. He got swept up into the common flow of materialism. Instead of being a torchlight of AM dharmic practices, he became one of the many enticed by pseudo-culture.

Remember, only Ananda Marga asanas are a true mind-body engagement that keeps the body vibrant and the mind goaded towards spirituality and sadhana.

    Ananda Marga philosophy states:

Question: What is the definition of ásanas?

Answer: Sthirasukham ásanam (Patanjali). Ásanas are calm, quiet and easy postures which are held with proper inhalation and exhalation. They exercise the nerves, tissues, glands and organs of the human body. While practising ásanas one enjoys physical comfort and mental composure.

The regular practice of ásanas keeps the body healthy and cures many diseases. Ásanas control the glands, the glands control the secretion of hormones, and the secretion of hormones controls the propensities. So ásanas help a sádhaka [spiritual aspirant] to balance the body and concentrate the mind.

Question: Why do we practise ásanas?

Answer: We perform ásanas for the following reasons:
    1. To increase the flexibility of the body.
    2. To rectify glandular defects and balance hormonal secretions in order to control the vrttis [propensities].
    3. To balance the body and mind.
    4. To withdraw the mind from undesirable thinking.
    5. To prepare the mind for subtler and higher sádhaná [spiritual practices]. (Yoga Psychology, Questions and Answers on Meditation, #4 & #5)

Story: after death experience + 3 more

    Baba
    Story: after death experience

    Namaskar,

Over the years Keshavananda jii has told this story at a variety of seminars, classes, and trainings. Hence, many of us are well familiar with Dadaji's portrayal. And, of course, he has even printed it in his book, "Mere Rahasyamay Baba" (2010, Hindi). Here following is that story.
    https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

(Note: This is not a direct translation from the original Hindi version, but an accurate summary of that story from the Hindi edition.)

During the jail period, there was a convicted criminal, nay murderer, who was given the duty by the jail officials to serve as Baba's personal caretaker. The convict's name was Ramchij Rajawa'r' of Chhapara' District - as you may recall. And he served Baba well.

In the greater liila, Ramchij was blessed with the opportunity to be with Baba - such are the loving ways of Parama Purusa.

One day while Keshavananda jii was along with Baba then Ramchij Rajawa'r' excitedly came up to them and asked if he could tell the story of one occasion how he (Ramchij Rajawa'r') had experienced his own death.

Baba gave His approval so Ramchij proceeded to give his account.

Ramchij Rajawa'r' said: 'Baba, one day I died - I experienced death. I was suffering from a fever lying there on my cot and two uniformed officials approached and told me in an authoritative voice that my time had come and that I must go along with them. With no other option, I followed their order and, step by step, they led me up to the kingdom of the god of death-- to Yamara'j.'

'I waited there with the guards and when my turn came then those two officials firmly brought me before the grand throne of Yamara'j. And they loudly announced my name to the god of death.'

'They said, 'Here before you we have brought Ramchij Rajawa'r---he is dead.'

'Immediately, Yamara'j became furious and he loudly shouted at his two officials.'

'Yamara'j scolded them, 'You neglectful fellows. I (Yamara'j) did not tell you to bring Ramchij Rajawa'r's soul here. I told you to bring Ramchij Ahir. You have confused the names and brought the wrong person’s soul. You completely misunderstood my command. Now go back and return Rajchij Rajawa's soul to his locale and bring me Ramchij Ahir’s soul. Immediately do as I say'.'

Ramchij Rajawa'r' continued on with his story:
    https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

'The next thing I knew I was now lying on that special type of stretcher used for carrying dead bodies to the cremation ground. And I was surrounded by all my family members and various persons from my village. I saw that they were all crying seeing my death. So when I opened my eyes and spoke to them they were startled and completely overjoyed.'

'And the first thing I said to them is where is Ramchij Ahir. I want to know about Ramchij Ahir. Right away two boys were sent to go get Ramchij Ahir.'

'They ran across the village and saw Ramchij Ahir milching his cows and then Ramchij Ahir looked over at them and then fell over - he died then and there, at that very moment.'

In that way, Ramchij Rajawa'r' recounted his story to Baba one night about how he died by mistake, and after some time had been brought back to life from the dead. And Keshavananda jii heard it all.
    https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

    Dada K.'s (mis)understanding

Afterwards, when it was quiet, Keshavananda jii looked at Baba and asked if things like this really happen. Baba just smiled.

Seeing Baba's response, Keshavananda jii misunderstood and concluded in his own mind that Ramchij Rajawa'r's story is 100% accurate and stands as a realistic depiction about death. That's to say, Keshavananda jii concluded that such mistakes can happen: Sometimes the wrong person could be mistakenly made to die.

Thus thinking that he had heard a most amazing and incredible story, Dadaji began recounting this story in so many different lectures, seminars, and classes etc - all the while describing how due to an oversight or error in Yamara'j's system, sometimes the wrong person dies.
    https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

And indeed that is how he wrote about it on pages 46 - 48 of his book "Mere Rahasyamay Baba" (2010, Hindi).

    Baba unlocks the mystery

However, some years after that initial event, in dharmic fashion Baba corrected and clarified the matter for one and all.

In His discourse "Yamara'j Ki Katha'" in Kolkata on 24 Feb 1980 (Ananda Vacanamrtam - 18 (H) & (B)), Baba makes explicit and detailed reference to Ramchij Rajawa'r's story about the god of death. And the first thing that Baba says is that his helper - Ramchij Rajawa'r' - is not a liar and that he saw everything in a dream. This much Baba says to begin and then Baba goes on to tell the entire story about Ramchij's death-like experience.

And in the culminating section of that discourse, Baba directly states that such mistakes regarding death never happen. Baba tells that Parama Purusa is in control of each and everything in this vast creation, in His divine kingdom, and that one faculty of Parama Purusa is that of Yamara'j - god of death. Hence, since the Divine Controller Himself is the Yamara'j, Baba directly states that such mistakes about the wrong person undergoing death never happen. In the kingdom of Parama Purusa, such oversights never occur.
    https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Thus, in His clear-cut, precise manner Baba unveils the truth about such types of mistakes, i.e. that they never happen. All this is clearly given in Baba's discourse - "Yamara'j Ki Katha'" in Kolkata on 24 Feb 1980.

    Dada Keshavananda misinterprets

By reading and hearing Baba's perfect clarification, we can all understand that from the very beginning Keshavananda jii misunderstood Baba's reaction to the story when it was first told to them by Ramchij Rajawa'r' in the jail.

That time Keshavananda jii thought that since Baba smiled therefore He was insinuating it is true and that such mistakes can and do happen at the time of death. But that was the wrong conclusion entirely. Keshavananda jii was off the mark.

So this is one clear-cut example of how someone was telling a Baba story that was clearly shown to be incorrect. Because it is Baba Himself who corrects the story. Even then, Dadaji's book (2010 Hindi edition) was published 30 years - 3 entire decades - after Baba's discourse on this topic and still Dadaji got it wrong.
    https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

    Conclusion

The natural question is why did this happen. Why after all these years, after all it was 30 years between Baba's 1980 discourse and the 2010 publishing of Dada's book, did Dada tell the story incorrectly.

We can only conclude that although Dada was Baba's PA still he could not understand Baba's simple gesture. That is one part. And the second aspect is that most Wts wrongly think they know all of Ananda Marga ideology, and therefore do not read Baba's books, and do not understand AM philosophy, so they cannot come up with the right answer.

Sadly, many Dadas suffer from the myth that they know everything about Ananda Marga ideology and Baba's teachings. For this reason, they stop studying Baba's books and unwittingly preach false things for years and years, not realising that they are wrong.

    Namaskar,
    In Him,
    Jayadeva

    Common problem

We should all be aware that there are serious mistakes in so many books written and published by Dadas. The above is but one example of many. More are coming. The overall spirit is that Baba's personality and teachings should be properly portrayed and if any book written - by a Dada or anyone at all - goes against this ethic, then the wrong needs to be pointed out and corrected.

    Hindi edition still wrong

The printed English edition of this book has been updated properly, but the original Hindi version of this book has yet to be updated and is still wrong. So as it stands now, Dada’s book (Hindi edition) is erroneous, and still today it is misleading readers.

When hearing any dadas recount a Baba story orally or in print, we should always ensure that the story and teachings are in concert with Ananda Marga ideology. And the best way to corroborate this is to confirm with Baba’s books and discourses etc.
    https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

All personal accounts must be ideological

What Baba has told on the public platform and in His discourses is the word of dharma. When others tell us "this" or "that" about their personal experiences with Baba then we have to think in multiple directions how far this is correct or not.

Individual people have their own limited way of understanding and interpreting things. So we cannot always depend on their individual reports as being accurate, perfect, and dharmic.

We can only accept those accounts which are consistent with His divine discourses - i.e. which follow the code of rationality etc. Otherwise, without that, we cannot accept any single individual's report or interpretation as being Baba's actual universal guideline for humanity.
    https://anandamargauniversal.blogspot.com/

Baba's discourses are dharma, not Dadas' books

At a minimum, we should always evaluate how far any Baba story or account is wholly consistent with Ananda Marga ideology. We should keep this in mind when reading any book written by a Dada. All too often their books are off the mark. This has been and continues to be a problem. Dada Keshavananda's book is a clear-cut example. Please watch for further letters in this series about books by other Dadas that strayed from the path.

Dada Keshavananda's book is not an isolated case. So many books written by Dadas veer off in the wrong direction. If you want to get the right guideline, read Baba's books.

    How karmiis behave

Ananda Marga ideology says, “People of action are also not free from vanity: “I did this, I did that – I built this road when I was a minister I constructed this bridge when I was in the Public Works Department” – this is how people become mad for their little “I”. Thus we see that although action is free from lethargy, it is not altogether free from vanity.”

“Pure devotion, parábhakti, is free from both [lethargy & vanity]...Those who ask for parábhakti or shuddhá bhakti will certainly acquire the things they need also. Thus due to their devotion, the devotees are always intelligent. You should be an intelligent devotee like this.” (1)

Note: Bhaktas know that Parama Purusa is the real Doer and they will engage in all kinds of actions knowing that it is He who has blessed them with the capacity to serve. In contrast, karmiis suffer from vanity and are quick and eager to boast about the works they did.

    Quiz: what teaching is this?

Instructions: Kindly read the below quote from Baba's teachings. At the end of the quote a question has been posed. If your answer to the question is correct then it means you read Baba's books carefully; and, if your answer is wrong or you do not know the answer, then it signifies that you need to pay more attention when reading Guru's teachings. After all, if sadhakas are not diligent in studying Baba's books then who is going to read them - non-margiis?

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Cunning vipras [religious priests], whom I call intellectual satans, tried to turn the minds of the people from practical reality towards an imaginary void by preaching contrived philosophies. The essence of their voluminous treatises and verbose annotations to lengthy aphorisms was: the world is an illusion; therefore renounce the world and do not be attracted to its illusions. Become desireless, detached and self-abnegating by offering all your wealth at the feet of the vipras [religious priests]. Of course such philosophies did not preach that the world was also illusory for the vipras [religious priests] who received the offerings – clearly because it was through such ploys that they were able to achieve their objectives.” (1)

Question: Who is Baba referring to in the above quote?

Most probably, as an Ananda Margii, you know what the answer is. But if not, or if you want confirmation, read on below for the answer for the answer

Answer: In His above teaching, Baba is talking about the dogmatic, exploitative priests from the Buddhist and Hindu traditions. Those Buddhist priests (a) preach the doctrine of nihilism and (b) misguide people to empty the mind and meditate on nothingness. In a similar vein, Hindu priests imposed their faulty view that this entire world is an illusion, mayavada. Thus people were indoctrinated into the idea that they should not protest against exploitation, but rather focus only on the afterlife etc.

Re: BP election commission: scam [2019]

    Namaskar,

The role of the the bhukti pradhana holds a significant and meaningful role in our Ananda Marga society.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “The Ánanda Márga Pracáraka Saḿgha (AMPS) secretary of such a bhukti will be known as a bhukti pradhána. [Pradhána means “head” or “principal person”.]” (1)

Since the inception of the BP system, whenever DMC was held in a given bhukti, Sadguru Baba recognised the BP in the following ways:
    (a) Sadguru Baba always bestowed a special place and honour to the bhukti pradhan;
    (b) The bhukti pradhan would sit on the dais next to PA Dada, quite close to Baba every day of that DMS visit;
    (c) Daily, on both occasions when on the dais, Baba always received the garland first from the BP;
    (d) Before beginning His DMC address, in His exquisite liila, Baba would ask the bhukti pradhan about the subject of discourse and inquire whether the assembly would be DMC or general darshan;
    (e) After varabhaya mudra was given, the bhukti pradhan would personally approach Baba and directly request Him for permission to do Guru puja;
    (f) The local DS / Dit S Wts did not have this type of status that the BP had.
