Namaskár,
For the all round welfare of mankind there is an urgent need to propagate (perform pracár of) the ideals of dharma, the Ánanda Márga teachings, graciously provided by our Bábá our Guru Shri Shri Ánandamu’rti jii. AM ácáryas are supposed to play a major role in this dharma pracár. Their entire life and all actions should be a practical realization of AM ideals. AM ácáryas should be role models for common people. Each action of an ácárya should be a teaching for other people follow.
However, there are some Dádás who are themselves confused about AM teachings and are thus not suitable for dharma pracár. One major issue is the trust people develop in these confused Dádás due to their orange garb. The “monkhood”ascribed to a Dádá’s uniform is sometimes dangerous as their one wrong action can make general population to follow them. This letter presents a non-befitting action of Dádá Krsnananda.
Dádá Krsnananda in his all online communication uses a signature quote purportedly of Bábá. His quotation is presented below in red for you to see.
Skype:krsnananda
www.anandakalyani.org
“He who loves Me, I snatch all his possessions, and he
who ever remains with me, and I become his slave.”
- Baba A'nandamu'rti
To become a bhakta one doesn’t have to become economically poor
Dádá Krsnananda’s act of having a Bábá quote is not bad in itself as, it provides the reader of his communication to always see a Bábá teaching. However, this tool of pracár turns out to be a double-edged sword when the quote is actually not that of Bábá but ascribed to Him. Reader of such a quote gets a wrong teaching in the name of AM teaching. This is harmful in two ways. Firstly, the reader gets misguided by a wrong teaching. Secondly, people who have slightly developed rationality think that Bábá’s teaching is defective and therefore image of AM is maligned.
Ananda Marga ideology states, “A man may be educated, may be illiterate, may be of fair complexion, may be of dark complexion, may be poor or may be rich, but all are within His mind. All are His psychic creation, all are His loving children, loving progeny of the loving Progenitor. So, nobody is unimportant, nobody is insignificant. Nobody should be suppressed, oppressed or repressed.” (1)
Ananda Marga ideology states, “To attain salvation is the birth right of all individual beings. Paramátmá makes no difference between educated and uneducated, rich and poor, young and old – no such external difference has any meaning to Him. He is the all-knowing entity. He judges everything by studying the inner sentiments of individuals.” (2)
Ananda Marga ideology states, “Remember that in no situation are you helpless, in no situation are you alone. Whether you are intelligent or foolish, rich or poor, educated or uneducated, you are never helpless. In no situation do you have to live alone. Parama Puruśa is with you. He will remain with you. To remain with you is His dharma.” (3)
Ananda Marga ideology states, “He must associate Himself with everyone’s mind, listening to their thoughts and alleviating their sufferings, whether they are literate or illiterate, rich or poor, shouldering the responsibility for the entire creation. Only then does He deserve to be called Puruśottama. He who remains motionless like a distant star, indifferent to the sorrows and sufferings of created beings, but accepting their worship, is not Puruśottama.” (4)
Ananda Marga philosophy states, “In the case of bhaktas they may be literate or illiterate they may be poor or rich, but their remains no gap. They only know, “I am, my father is; there is no third entity between me and my Father.” That’s why they can come in close contact with Him.”” (5)
By the above quotes and teachings, it is obvious that both rich and poor are devotees. So one can have money and be a devotee. It is not that rich persons are sinners and that all poor people, beggars, and homeless folks are great bhaktas. In order to become a bhakta one doesn’t have to become poor in terms of wealth.
Clearly Dádá Krsnanandarsnanada is off the mark and attributing a fabricated quote and false idea to Sadguru Baba. How can Bábá snatch anything from bhaktas besides one’s samskáras? The relationship between a Bhakta and his Is’ta is a loving one. Bábá’s rich vocabulary to describe the relationship between Bhakta and his Is’ta can be witnessed in His prabhát samgiit. It is hard to swallow that Bábá will use a word like slave to describe this relationship. When a Bhakta goes close to Parama Purus’a he becomes one with Him. Parama Purus’a does not become Bhakta’s slave. When the individual existence of Bhakta gets annihilated there is no question of Parama Purus’a becoming Bhakta’s slave.
Summary
Thus we see that on a rational plane the quote provided by Dádá Krsnananda fails to belong to Bábá. One one hand Parama Purus’a’s criteria is based on devotion or bhakti and not based on mercy due to one’s poverty in material sphere. One the other hand the culmination point of bhakti is merger with Parama Purus’a and not making Him one’s slave. By using this quote in a widespread manner this confused Dádá is confusing and misguiding others too.
in Him,
Bhakti

“The movement and the path, the means and the chariot are all inseparably linked. The path is not always easily accessible, smooth and littered with flower petals; nor is it always inaccessible, thorny and covered with stones. One must keep one’s eye fixed on the Goal. This Goal provides inspiration, supplies the means for forward movement and makes the little lamps of life infinitely effulgent. Since eternity this very Goal has provided and is providing inspiration to all and will continue to do so in future; and by revitalising the life-force as if with a flow of water, it will make the earth ever full of sweetness, and at the same time it will keep the triumphant flag of humanity flying on top of the golden mountain peak. So let one’s vision be fixed on the goal. There is no necessity to think of anything else.” (Ananda Vanii #67)
