Marriage by Wts

Here is how some Dadas are manipulating our pristine marriage system for
the benefit of their own financial interest and agenda. Unfortunately,
at present, in today's Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha, our revolutionary
system of forming marriages is being tainted and threatened by a few
greedy hands. This is especially true here in Delhi sector. Some Dadas
are demanding (and getting) huge commissions for arranging marriages for
female marriage candidates. Plus they are injecting groupist agendas
into our marriage process.

Cheating in marriages
For some years, things have not been moving in a proper direction with
regards to our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha marriage system.
Already, Ananda Margiis are an extremely small fraction of the world’s
population. That means that one may have to search outside their
village, block, district, or even state or country to find a proper
match for marriage. Even in Delhi sector where the concentration of
margiis is comparatively higher than overseas, often margii families
search far and wide for the best possible spouse.
To capitalise on this circumstance, various Dadas and a few Didis have
become quite involved in the marriage-making process - even turning it
into their own private business venture. Since Dadas and Didis travel
throughout the sector, they are aware about many more marriage
candidates than family people. Side by side, at present there is not a
credible marriage bureau in our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha (AMPS), so
family margiis have come to rely on various WTs to help find a suitable
match.
Ultimately, all families want someone established in 16 Points,
financially stable, intelligent and educated, physically appropriate
etc. It is a competitive market. Families have numerous demands which
the Dadas are well aware about. And, at the same time, margii families
are anxious to get a proper marriage arranged. Some acaryas have entered
into the marriage making business by becoming “for hire marriage
brokers.” Certain Wts noticed the need and exploited it the opportunity
for their own gain.

How some Wts manipulate marriages to make money
Here is how it works: For a fee, various Dadas will become a broker or
advocate for the family, especially for the girl's side. That means the
margii family will pay that Dada to find a match. The family's intention
is basically pure as they are concerned to make a proper marriage,
which is not easy to do. And some Dadas have turned this into a
lucrative money making venture. Because already Indian families are
accustomed to paying a dowry - but there is no dowry in AMPS. So, given
the circumstances, the family is willing to pay a Dada to 'watch out'
for their needs. That means that Dada will speak highly or even falsely
to boost the status of their daughter and scope out a good husband for
her, and vice versa if the family has a son. In this way, some Wt Dadas
& Wt Didis have made it their profession to become “for-profit”
marriage brokers. This is the very disturbing and unholy trend amongst
some of our Wts nowadays.
Since some Dadas do marriage brokering as a profession, i.e. for profit,
they are no longer impartial guides in the marriage making process.
They have a clear-cut self-interest based for their financial gain. In
that sense they are no different from professional real estate agents
earn a hefty commission for every sale / purchase.
Similarly some of our Wt Dadas haggle and barter to make marriages for
their own business interest - not for the success / welfare of the
marriage candidates. For instance, suppose there is a suitable margii
girl in Kerala yet that family has not paid a broker Dada anything, then
there is no way that Dada will help out in arranging her marriage, even
if he knows of a perfect match. This type of vendetta is going on. And
by that way many highly suitable margii daughters are sitting for ages
and ages waiting to get married but to no avail. Because those marriage
broker Wts will not help, rather they may sabotage the process. And in
the end it often happens that the margii girl's family will get
frustrated and she may just marry a non-margii boy.

How marriage broker Wts intercede for self-interest
Let's say for instance a female marriage candidate from Bengal is ready
to marry a boy from Gujurat. And all families involved are approving and
all the factors look good. But if a Dada has received payment from a
third family and they are interested in having their girl marry that
same margii boy from Gujurat, then that marriage broker Dada will
hastily intercede and advocate strongly for his candidate. That Dada
might even spread unseemly rumours about and condemn the other female
party. All because that Dada is greedy to collect his 20 thousand or 50
thousand rupee payment from his margii client. This is the tragic way
things are working and as you might imagine there are a wide array of
scenarios that can take place where a Wt might manipulate the scene in
order to collect his payment. They might spread rumours, threaten,
destroy a potential marriage, and even arrange an improper marriage.
There is no end to what they might do. All for their own individual
profit. So marriage brokering for financial gain is one serious issue
that is threatening the sanctity of our AMPS marriage system.
Then there is also the matter of political gain. Let's take one
'hypothetical' case. Suppose there is one margii girl from Mumbai living
in Delhi, and there is one margii boy from Jaipur. And all factors are
pointing towards a proper marriage and both marriage candidates are
interested. Even then some x, y, z Dadas might poke their nose for their
selfish reasons - i.e. because the girl's family is not supporting
their faction. For that political reason, some sycophant x, y, z Dadas
of H or B group might jump into the situation and try to turn the boy
against that girl. To that end, the Dada might spread all kinds of
misinformation about the girl in order to ruin her dignity in the eyes
of that boy. Or that Dada might threaten the boy's family that they will
not be allowed in dharmacakra because their girl is marrying some
alleged protester in favor of margii rights etc. This type of thing
could and does happen. Because some Dadas have their own selfish agenda
in making marriages for their own political gain.
Not creating Wts due to financial gain
Our Wt sannyasis should not even be involved in the marriage making
process. Per our system, Wts are to create new Wts, while family acaryas
and family margiis are to involve in arranging marriages etc. So the
Wts have no right to be involved in the marriage, match-making process.
The push for Wts is to create more wholetime workers; that is their
inherent duty as a Wt. In countless reportings, Baba would ask about how
many new Wts they created, or how many candidates they sent for Wt
training. This is a major emphasis of Wt life.
But now, due to economic interest and financial gain, some Wts are
working to set-up marriages between young margiis. Verily, there is a
conflict of interest. Because how can they attend to their inherent duty
of Wt creation when they are so eager to earn maximum dollars / rupees
by arranging marriages. However, certain Dadas have entered the fray for
profit and politicking. Sadly, they have imposed their greed on our
AMPS marriage system, and left by the wayside their duty to create Wts.
This in part accounts for why our Wt training centres are mostly empty
these days, closed down entirely, or operating with a paltry number of
candidates.

Conclusion
Although, there is growing awareness about this entire issue of
marriages in our AMPS, some Dadas are continuing on in their marriage
brokering business. And the results are not good. As a family, as a
community, as a society, margiis and workers around the globe should be
wholly alert of what is going on. Society building is an integral
feature for sustaining and expanding our AMPS community etc, yet the
very essence of this system is being tainted by some greedy Dadas. And
that is cause for alarm. Let us resolve this problem at the earliest as
it is vital to the health of our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha and
those innocent marriage candidates.
Solution: Our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha marriage bureau should be managed only by margiis not by Wts.

License should not be encouraged in the name of liberty
Ananda Marga philosophy states, “When we pay recognition to any simple
truth, we should not be carried away by sentimentality. Only rationality
based on humanism is acceptable. As children of nature, women should
have the same access as men to light, air, earth and water. In fact, it
is not a matter of granting rights to women, but rather a case of
recognizing their rights. If, however, the recognition of women’s rights
is treated sentimentally, it may result in great social disaster.” (1)
By Baba's grace, we will be able to restore the dignity, integrity, and dharma to our Ananda Marga marriage system.
Ananda Marga Caryacarya says, "A decision for marriage should be taken
with full consideration of one’s physical, mental, and financial
conditions and environmental circumstances. No one should exert pressure
in the matter of marriage. Marriage is not a hindrance to dharma
sa'dhana'; marriage is a dharmic ceremony." (2)
Ananda Marga philosophy states, “It must always be remembered that
freedom, or liberty, and license are not the same thing. The concept of
women’s freedom is good, but license should not be encouraged in the
name of liberty. Giving license to either men or women could destroy the
social structure in a short time. Hence those who are the most vocal in
proposing the freedom of women must carefully consider the form this
proposed freedom shall take.” (3)
