Jamalpur dogma: holy land
Note: This letter is only for those who have reverence for Sadguru Baba Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji and try to follow His Ananda Marga ideology.

Every sincere Ananda Margii is familiar with Baba's teachings on Jamalpur tiirtha (so-called holy land) dogma. Even then, now and again, some become confused and claim that the dust of one or another land as being holy. However, true Ananda Margiis know that Baba does not condone visiting any temple or other sites as a Jamalpur so-called tiirtha.
Ananda Marga ideology says, "The Supreme Being is omnipresent, all-pervading and witness to everything, everywhere. It is not proper to confine Him to a particular place and say that He has eaten butter at this place or taken a dip in the Ganges at that particular place, thus limiting Him to a particular region or a particular country or the glorification of a particular sacred place, and thereby limit His all-pervasiveness" (1)

Ananda Marga philosophy condemns this so-called holy land dogma, but led by Rudrananda, the greedy and exploitative monks have started this so-called holy land dogma as a business to cheat margiis. This is disgraceful and unfortunate. That which our Guru Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji has forbidden has now been embraced by disgraced Wts for the sake of money and prestige. It is sad how the majority of people are fools, and there is an extreme minority of intelligent people. Uninformed people always rush to gain quick virtue, and they are duped by conniving religious cheats like Rudrananda in the name of so-called holy places. We have to protect our grand Ananda Marga philosophy from distortion and also save innocent people who are being cheated on a regular basis in the name of Jamalpur and Tiljala so-called tiirthas.

Conclusion
H group AMPS is so degenerated that in broad daylight they are openly smashing Ananda Marga philosophy and introducing the Hindu dogma of so-called holy land. That is why the various newspapers have printed headlines like, “Jamalpur is the highest tiirtha / holy land of Ananda Marga.”
Now it is the duty of every Ananda Margii to oppose sinners, wherever they come across them. We should not keep quiet watching Baba’s teachings get destroyed before our eyes. Baba made AMPS to propagate AM ideology and fight all kinds of dogmas including so-called holy land dogmas. That is why we should oppose H group propaganda that Jamalpur is so-called holy land of Ananda Marga.
The duty of true Ananda Margiis is to propagate His philosophy and oppose dogma, wherever it crops up.

Tiljala dogma invented by Sarvatmananda
This so-called tiirtha dogma was first created by Sarvatmananda when he infused the Tiljala hold tomb dogma. Now look here at the scene in our AMPS at Tiljala whereby after 1990 Tiljala was declared a so-called holy land and tomb worship started. See how the followers of this so-called tiirtha dogma are encircling the tomb in the Memorial building. The five-pointed pratik is raised off the ground and on top of that pratik is a rectangular box and that is actual tomb / mahasamadhi. That is the focal point of this entire dogmatic so-called holy land so-called tiirtha at Tiljala.
Sarvatmananda imposed martial law and made it mandatory for everyone to come to Tiljala in October to honour that so-called holy tomb. That time, all the groups were united. In reaction, in 1995 Rudrananda created Jamalpur so-called holy land dogma which has been described above.
These two dogmas turned Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha (AMPS) into a pool of dogma. AMPS lost its path. The main purpose of AMPS was to propagate Ananda Marga philosophy, but now AMPS is busy propagating Hindu dogma. That is disgraceful. We have to oppose this. This fake tiirtha should be discarded. Baba says the real holy place is inside your soul where Parama Purusa resides, atma tiirtha. Those ignorant sadhakas searching Baba at the Tiljala tomb or at Jamalpur so-called holy land will get nothing. Just they will waste their valuable time and money. We should follow Baba in order to receive His grace, and discard this outdated belief of so-called holy land or so-called tiirtha dogma.
Conclusion
Only confused persons justify that places like Ananda Nagar, Jamalpur, Kolkata etc should be regarded as holy and that everyone should visit those places. Unfortunately, convincing such persons who have fallen prey to the so-called holy land dogma is not easy - they are deeply rooted in their misunderstanding. Undeterred, we should go on trying to help them.

Here below in the center is a tomb called Tiger’s grave in Jamalpur. This is also a place of so-called tiirtha for those of a low IQ. You know Ananda Marga philosophy does not subscribe to the so-called holy land or so-called tiirtha dogma. This tomb is looked upon as holy by uneducated, misinformed people.

Rushing from Jamalpur to Tiljala
First and foremost, Baba guides us to seek Parama Purusa within and that searching Him externally is a waste of time and money. Below Baba cites how only static people averse to meditation aim to seek Him in various external locations - and this a big waste of time and resources. The real tiirtha lies in the golden casket of the human heart.
Ananda Marga philosophy states, "People generally want to live without intense sádhaná in the spiritual sphere and without much effort in the mundane sphere. When people seek to acquire fortune or attain salvation without proper effort, then they try to remove their sins by visiting the so-called holy places of pilgrimage – they try to escape across the Baetarańii [Styx] by holding the tails of calves! The merchants in those holy places understand this mental weakness of the people, and by taking advantage of it, exploit them to the utmost. As a result, the pilgrims are unable to worship as they should, and are misguided into moving from one place to another by these exploiters. But this does not satisfy their spiritual hunger, and they feel they have not at all been relieved of their sins. Thus people of static mentality waste their valuable time, energy and money rushing from one place of pilgrimage to another." (4)
Static people: wander one place to the other
So Baba's teachings are quite clear. We do not give an iota of credence to the so-called holy land dogma. Our path is the the psycho-spiritual approach of dharma sadhana where we find Him within.
Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "For those who are searching the Lord without and not within, [Ananda Marga philosophy] says,"
Idaḿ tiirtham idaḿ tiirthaḿ bhramanti támasáh janáh;
Átmatiirthaḿ na jánanti kathaḿ mokśa varánane.
[Here is one place of pilgrimage, there is another place. People of static nature wander from the one place to the other place. But without finding the real place of pilgrimage within themselves, how can they attain salvation?]
Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "They are all persons dominated by the static principle, whose wandering from one holy place to another is simply of no use. All this wandering results in a waste of money and energy." (5)
Dogma: some move hither and thither
Ananda Marga ideology says, “O lady, támasik people, those who are guided by static ideas, move hither and thither – ‘This is the tiirtha, this is the kuńd́a [sacred pond], one should have a dip in it… this is the idol, this is that, this is that’ – and doing this they are simply wasting their valuable time, energy and money.” (6)
Searching in tomb
How can any rationally-minded Ananda Margii accept such a statement in the wake of Sadguru Baba's above teachings. Do they think Baba contradicts Himself or that Baba is bound in some particular place and He is not everywhere - just He is confined to the relative factors of time, space, and person. Do they think that really we should seek Him externally in this tomb and that town, and forget the divine truth the He lies quiescent within the mind and heart of every bhakta.

Some DMS brochures and pamphlets highlighted places of pilgrimage like different temples, hills, etc. All these local “attractions” have been showcased as special places to go to and visit - i.e. sightseeing etc. This means the aim of DMS function has become secondary and so-called holy places and pilgrimages have become primary.
Before 1990, when our Gurudev intended to bless His children by conducting DMC in a particular area, then simply the dates and places were conveyed via wts and other margis - either personally, or by phone, or by letters, or simple pamphlets. There was no mention about that area’s local historical sites or religious temples etc where He was going to hold DMC. Rather that place itself acquired importance with His auspicious arrival.
Those who are true disciples of Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji understand that His teachings are pointed and clear. When He has given the guideline that the real tiirtha lies within then they understand that the system of Ananda Marga sadhana is the only way for attaining Parama Purusa.

Ananda Marga ideology says, "That which leads to one's physical, psychic and spiritual well-being is called 'hita'; that which leads to one's psychic and spiritual well-being is 'kalya'n'a'; and that which leads to one's spiritual well-being is 'ks'ema'." (1)
Note 1: Most of the time at the end of His discourses Baba gives His blessing, Kalyáńamastu, "that which leads to one's psychic and spiritual well-being". But unfortunately in English translated books the editors have simply written it as "Let there be welfare". Obviously, this is not working properly.
Because the term 'welfare' is commonly used in crude materialistic societies where there is no sense of spirituality or Godhood. And Baba's blessings are always related with Divine blessings. Guru as Parama Purusa, as Taraka Brahma, as Mahasambhuti-- He blesses divinely. But that divine quality is conspicuously absent or missing entirely from the mundane term 'welfare.'
So when our new margiis read, "Let there be welfare", then they may think that it is related with a court case, or children's problems, or getting some unemployment bonus etc. Because even here in India the Social Welfare Department is just one mundane group that distributes food rations at a lower profit or helps in flood circumstances, or does other types of external dealings etc. Means they do not do anything in the realm of spirituality-- and in all the countries it is like this. That the 'Welfare Dept' is just involved in crude things.
The culminating idea is that: Baba's blessing is divine and welfare is a mundane term.
Note 2: Sometimes Baba gives His blessing saying Kalyáńamastu, sometimes Baba begins His blessing with Hita', and sometimes with Ks'ema', but in each case the editors of our AMPS books incorrectly put "Let there be welfare".
Hence the editors of the various books are responsible for such blunders. It is our dharmic duty that such errors should be corrected according to Baba's approach.
Note 3: Specifically, in Ananda Vacanamrtam part 34 in multiple discourses (e.g.“Names of the Supreme”, “Prańava”) the mistake appears as:
"Kalyáńamastu [Let there be welfare]"
This translation by the editors is completely wrong and misguided.
