NARCISSISTIC WTS

Warning: Those who do not have reverence should not read this letter. The basic quality for understanding this mail is deep reverence for Guru.

Namaskar,
I have great regard and admiration for Dada Sarvatmanandji - he has done a tremendous job on many levels; but look what has happened here.

“You shall protect, in all respects and at all costs, the dignity of your treasures and the sanctity of your flag, of your emblem, and of the pratikrti [photo] of Márga Guru.” (1)

"Trtiiyam' gurupújanam. I must have reverence for the guru. What is the guru? Gu means “darkness”, that is, darkness in the psycho-spiritual sphere. And ru means “dispelling agent”. That is, he who dispels darkness from my psychic and spiritual body is the guru. Gu means “darkness”, ru means “dispeller”. “Trtiiyam' gurupújanam. That is, you must have respect for the guru." (2)

SEE THE DEED OF AC. SARVATMANANDJI

Now look what Ac Sarvatmananda Avt is doing - he is standing directly in front of Guru's photo - blocking it entirely. This is not the proper way for any devotee to behave. With their common sense, no devotee or sadhaka can think of sitting with their back to Guru - blocking Him entirely.

Yet here, at a recent DMS in Bangalore, we see Dada Sarvatmanandji standing directly in front of Guru's image. Dadaji's back is 100% towards Baba. That also means that all those margiis in attendance are unable to see Sadguru Baba because Dadaji is blocking their view and covering up Baba from head to toe. This is a most disgraceful occurence.

Not only that, Dada Sarvatmanandaji has contravened a basic, fundamental rule that even ordinary citizens follow. At any gathering, the best seat is always reserved for the most respected person. At conventions, the president gets the best seat; at forums, the invited speaker gets the best seat; at weddings, a special place is reserved for the bride and groom. But, this basic ethic Dadaji could not follow, as he stood directly in front of Sadguru Baba.

MUST BE MADE TO APPRECIATE HIS MAJESTY

"The one formless, beginningless and infinite Parama Brahma (Supreme Consciousness) is the only entity to be attained by living beings – That alone is Jagat Guru (the Supreme preceptor), That alone has revealed Brahmavidyá (intuitional science) to us through the medium of the name and form of Anandamúrtijii. Unit beings must be made to appreciate Its majesty." (3)

TOO MUCH SELF IMPORTANCE IS DISEASE

All in all it is a sad and unfortunate showing by Dada Sarvatmanandji. Because his mind is not in a devotional way, he cannot think that what he is doing is sinful. Indeed, this happens when one places too much importance on their own unit self. They feel they should be glorified - and given greater value. This is one of the class signs and symptoms of narcissism. Please see the list below, further down in this mail.

However, when one's mind is in a more devotional space, then they can easily understand. This below story works in that direction.

When they themselves are not following the fundamental tenets of dharma then what are they going to teach others. They will just waste their time in infighting, unfortunately.

SOLUTION:

PRESERVING SANCTITY OF GURU'S PHOTO

As we know, in our dharmacakra halls and jagrtis etc, Guru's photo must be prominently displayed at all times - with due reverence and regard. Best then is to have two photos on display - one lower (around 4 feet off ground), and one higher (around 7 feet off the ground.)

If everyone is sitting in sadhana or Guru Puja then both photos should be displayed. Because everyone is low to the ground and no one will block or disrespect Guru's image.

And if someone is standing or giving a talk, or if akhanda kiirtan is being done, then the lower photo, which is only four feet off the ground, should either be turned around or covered by a small curtain. That way those standing will not block or hover over Guru's photo. At the same time, the higher photo - which is around 7 feet above the ground - will be in full view of all. Those standing will have no chance of blocking that photo. Thus the sanctity of Guru's photo will be maintained and the devotional environment preserved.

NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER
(Courtesy of the Mayo Clinic)

Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance and a deep need for admiration. Those with narcissistic personality disorder believe that they're superior to others and have little regard for other people's feelings.

Narcissistic personality disorder is one of several types of personality disorders. Personality disorders are conditions in which people have traits that cause them to feel and behave in socially distressing ways.

Narcissistic personality disorder treatment is centered around psychotherapy.

Narcissistic personality disorder is characterized by dramatic, emotional behavior, which is in the same category as antisocial and borderline personality disorders.

Narcissistic personality disorder symptoms may include:

Believing that you're better than others
Fantasizing about power, success and attractiveness
    Exaggerating your achievements or talents
    Expecting constant praise and admiration
Believing that you're special and acting accordingly
Failing to recognize other people's emotions and feelings
Expecting others to go along with your ideas and plans
    Taking advantage of others
Expressing disdain for those you feel are inferior
    Being jealous of others
    Appearing as tough-minded or unemotional

When you have narcissistic personality disorder, you may come across as conceited, boastful or pretentious. You often monopolize conversations. You may belittle or look down on people you perceive as inferior. You may have a sense of entitlement. And when you don't receive the special treatment to which you feel entitled, you may become very impatient or angry. You may insist on having "the best" of everything — the best car, athletic club, medical care or social circles, for instance.

Believing that you're special and acting accordingly.

PROOF OF SARVATMANANDJI’S NARCISSISM

So Dada Sarvatmanandji’s way of standing directly in front of Guru's image is proof of his narcissistic personality disorder. In Ananda Marga Guru is the most revered Entity. The only way one can completely block Sadguru’s image and stand in front of Him is if that person truly feels that they are great and deserving of the highest honour. Such is the extreme degree of Dadaji’s narcissism.

In Him,
Shankar Sen

Note: BABA STORY OF TAIWAN

Once Baba visited Taiwan He graciously gave PC to numerous sadhakas. In particular, after giving PC to one margii, that margii walked backwards towards the door so that he could face towards Baba as he was leaving the room. There is a tradition in the east to never turn your back on those whom you respect. Later on, Baba commented to those around that He appreciated what the margii did.

Here again we should remind ourselves how the Dadas in the above photo did not follow this following basic mandate.

“You shall protect, in all respects and at all costs, the dignity of your treasures and the sanctity of your flag, of your emblem, and of the pratikrti [photo] of Márga Guru.” (4)

Why Religion Is Bad

"Átmánátman viveka will teach you that the Singular Eternal Entity in the form of Consciousness should be your only object of ideation. You will see the colours of religion fade before your eyes as the pure white effulgence of dharma shines with ever-increasing brilliance."

"All the “isms” prevalent in today's world can easily be included in the category of religions. All the defects of religions exist in the “isms” too. None of the political, social or economic “isms” are free from superstition none are straightforward; all are full of rampant hypocrisy. In all “isms”, doctrines and religions, the scriptural authority is supreme. There is no scope for the functioning of the five types of conscience, no place for service, love or devotion. With the help of falsehood and immorality, these “isms,” doctrines and religions slander and make accusations against each other. They make attractive promises to the people while hiding their own internal sins. In fact, false piety is not the path of dharma, leading to welfare, but the opposite of dharma, the negation of welfare. They can be likened to asses wearing lion skins: take away the lion skins and their their true form will be revealed. They have no other purpose than to grab votes and usurp power. The mentality to grab the votes first and then serve the people is not the true spirit of selfless social service; rather, it is the mentality of power craving materialists."

"You will have to advance with the true spirit of genuine social service, because the very characteristic of dharma is to promote the cause of welfare. Dharma and welfare are inseparable. Religion and intolerance have created enormous harm in the world, have caused torrents of blood to stain the rivers red. In the present twentieth century, religions have assumed the form of “isms”."

"The people of medieval times fought among the clans and communities, and the people of today are fighting over their “isms”....... To emancipate the masses from the unhealthy influence of “isms” there is no other way than universalism. Only universalism is free from the defects of any narrowisms because every thing of this entire universe comes within its vast periphery." (AMIWL pt 7, p. 533)

Mahaprayan for Mortal Humans, Not For God #7

MAHAPRAYANA IS OBSERVED FOR Mortal HUMANS

 NOT FOR PARAMA PURUSA

~ Part 7 ~

Namaskar,
Here below is a public announcement about the 2nd annual (2014) mahaprayan Mahaprayana of a regular human being, the late Mr. Sadhanananda. The article details how Mr. Sadhanananda died in Dacca, Bangladesh.

It is announced in this news that on his mahaprayan day they planneed food distribution, donations to the poor, and other activities typical of a mahaprayan gathering.

So doing all these rituals (food distribution and donations to the poor etc) as part of the mahaprayan observance are not new in India. This has been going on for centuries.

Hence the Tiljala mahaprayan programme is just another addition of this Hindu dogma. Indeed, when common Hindu believers see the Tiljala mahaprayan Mahaprayana event, they think it is an expression of their Hindu tradition.

Thus, throughout the Bangla-speaking world, inside and outside of India, when a person dies then the term “mahaprayan” is used.

And in the below article, the term mahaprayan is used extensively throughout:
(1) It is the 2nd to last word of the 3rd line of the first paragraph.
(2) It is the last word of the 2nd line of the third paragraph.
(3) It is the 3rd word of the first line of the last paragraph.

In all the aforesaid places the term mahaprayan appears in the below article.

This demonstrates that the term "mahaprayan" is used to signify the death of a human being; it is a common phenomenon not only in India - but throughout the Bengali-speaking world, as evidenced in the case of Mr Sadhanananda. And it is also used in various non-Bengali speaking areas. The term mahaprayan is everywhere; it is widely used for all kinds of people to signify their death. It is not something special or unique. This below person was not an Ananda Margii.

The word “mahaprayan” used in the photo is in the Bengali language.

In this photo - as well as in its regular usage - the term mahaprayan is used to insinuate the death of a man who has made his departure from this world. That is why this word is not used for Taraka Brahma because He did not depart - He is the eternal Parama Purusa. So the mahaprayan term is for ordinary humans, i.e. mortals.

Some think that we should live happily and not care about all these things. That is the wrong approach and defeats the purpose of creating the organisation. All kinds of societal dogmas were in vogue and Baba created Ananda Marga to eradicate those dogmas, and establish bhagavad dharma. Naturally then we must not allow such dogmas in our very own organisation, AMPS. If we ignore those dogmas it defeats the purpose of the formation of Ananda Marga.

The term mahaprayan is directly used in the photo. If you type this in as a Google search then you will see it there printed as well.

THEY NEVER LIKE TO ADMIT THEIR HYPOCRISY

Unfortunately when this point is raised then those in Tiljala never accept that mahaprayan  is merely a death ceremony. So this is their hypocrisy. Mahaprayan Mahaprayana is a death ceremony that is what their annual fake mahaprayan (MPD) is also - a death ceremony.

H group is not innocent in this regard. They also observe this annually, though not in the grand way that Tiljala does.

in Him,
Rakhal Chandra Dey

Should Purodhas Dance On Stage

Baba says, "An a'ca'raya or purodha' cannot actively participate in any acting." (CC-1)

Note: Keeping Baba's above guideline in view, see the standard of certain Wts (acaryas and purodhas) who have acted on stage at various retreats and seminars. Every margii should be aware of the rules so that when something like this occurs they can come forward and help rectify the situation - thereby upholding Baba's directive. One purodha well known for violating this rule in the past was Dada V in NY sector who would sing and dance rap music on stage at the annual summer retreats etc - hopefully he has since mended his ways.

~ With Your Advent, The Inert Humanity Has Awakened Today ~

"Stabdha ma'navata' ja'galo go ja'galo..."  (PS #366)

Purport:

O’ Parama Purusa, with Your advent, the inert humanity has awakened today. Expression has come to its previously dumb mouth. Beacons of light enliven it and cast away dark staticity.

The humanity was sleeping since ages in a deep slumber and submerged in dogma & inertness. That humanity could not understand what is dharma and adharma, nor could they follow any do's and don'ts or protest against injustices. Today, that humanity has become awakened, by His grace. Those who were unable to speak, such dumb persons have gained the courage to speak out against falsehood & injustice, by Your divine grace.

There is no looking back. Today, let us all collectively move along the path of light. In the eastern sky, the newly coloured sun awakens.

The flashes of light lured the flowers to bloom. The consciousness dawns in human minds and the hypnotic spells of lethargy, apathy, and soul-destroying vacuity, have vanished out of sight. Baba, O’ Parama Purusa, with Your advent, everything has changed...

MAHAPRAYAN IN Jhabua MP #6

Namaskar,
Here below is a public announcement video about the mahaprayan of a regular human being, Mr Pargi of Madhya Pradesh (India). As many may know Madhya Pradesh is geographically directly in the middle of India and boasts a population of 74 million inhabitants. Thus Madhya Pradesh is larger than most countries of the world, by population. And when a person dies then the term “mahaprayan” is used.

This demonstrates that the term "mahaprayan" is used to signify the death of a human being is a common phenomenon in my country - just like the below image of Mr Pargi. The term mahaprayan is everywhere; it is widely used for all kinds of people to signify their death. It is not something special or unique. This below person was not an Ananda Margii.

The word “mahaprayan” is used in the photo is in the Hindi language.

Action, Reaction Fate & Blaming God

Here below Baba gives a grand summary of our samskara theory with the culminating idea being that humans alone are responsible and accountable for the reactions they must experience. There is no question of blaming God or anyone else.

"Human beings keep on performing new actions also, while experiencing the reactions of previous actions. This experiencing of the result of previous actions is called the unknown future or fate (adrśt́a). One experiences the result of one’s actions in a subsequent life and cannot then recollect the actions whose results bring happiness and grief, because a person’s memory is not large enough to remember or know the deeds of their past lives. Reactions which humans experience were collected in previous lives, and in present life they cannot make out the cause of such experiences, and hence term these experiences as fate or the unknown future. People often hold Parama Puruśa responsible for calamities that befall them, but in fact they alone are responsible, as the suffering of fate is only reaction of their own previous actions. How can Parama Puruśa be responsible? Human beings themselves are answerable for their fate as it is their actions alone which create it. They alone will have to bear the consequences of all their actions. No one else can substitute for them. Their good deeds beget good results, while bad ones beget bad results, and they will have to experience both without any exception. This is the law of Prakrti and no one can change this law." Mahaprayan of Human Beings #5

MAHAPRAYANA OF Human Beings #5

Namaskar,
Here below is a public announcement video about the mahaprayan of a regular human being.

In this scene - shown below - local citizens and admirers are carrying their deceased “guruji.” They recognise that their guru has breathed his last - expired from this earth - and died. Hence they are performing the last rites for their fallen guru. This is a traditional part of any death ceremony which is commonly called mahaprayan in our land.

Using the term "mahaprayan" to signify the death of a human being is a common phenomenon in my country. The term mahaprayan is everywhere; it is widely used for all kinds of people to signify their death. It is not something special or unique. This below person was not an Ananda Margii.

The word “mahaprayan” Mahaprayana is used directly in the title of the below photo heading, “Mahaprayan of Guruji*.”

In this photo - as well as in its regular usage - the term mahaprayan is used to insinuate the death of a man who has made his departure from this world. That is why this word is not used for Taraka Brahma because He did not depart - He is the eternal Parama Purusa. So the mahaprayan term is for ordinary humans, i.e. mortals.

"NOBODY WILL KNOW ABOUT OUR HYPOCRISY AND SINS"

Namaskar,

You writing is very relevant.

In the early days after 1990 they were 100% united in their activities. Together these people wrote a declaration and announced that Baba (Master) has not only departed but He has so-called greatly departed; i.e. mahaprayan. They thought, "Now we are free. Nobody is watching us; nobody will know about our hypocrisy and sins; nobody will hold us accountable for our actions; we are free; so let's enjoy."

I have always maintained that "mahaprayan" Mahaprayana is the root of the crises in Ananda Marga. The MPD resolution which was passed  on the 25th August 1991 was an acknowledgement/ affirmation that Baba is no more and we have the freedom to do as we please.

I am optimistic that there can be a turn around  in our Ananda Marga providing that MPD is discarded into the rubbish bin where it belongs.

Coward Devotee Means No Devotion

Baba says, "You must continue doing good to society, and at the same time must fight against the bad...On the path of dharma, one is not only to do noble deeds; one must also fight against the dishonest people both are virtuous actions. There are many good people in the society - noble people engaged in noble deeds - who are not ready to fight against wrongs and injustices. This sort of passive benevolence does not really promote the cause of human progress in the world. What is desirable is to acquire virtue by doing noble deeds and fighting against all sins and crimes. Both are mandatory, both an integral part of dharma." (AV-8, p.50-51)

Note: If we follow Baba's above mandate our organisation will be free from all kinds of negativity. Stagnant minded people will not get the opportunity to pollute Baba's ideology by imposing their dogma.

MAHAPRAYANA OF Mortal Humans #4

Namaskar,
Here below is a public announcement video about the mahaprayan of a regular human being, Dr. Babasahab Ambedkar. Using the term "mahaprayan" to signify the death of a human being is a common phenomenon in my Bengal. The term mahaprayan is everywhere; it is widely used for all kinds of people to signify their death. It is not something special or unique. This below person was not an Ananda Margii.

The word “mahaprayan” is used directly in the title of the below video, Dr. Babasahab Ambedkar, Mahaprayan Din, Gajiyabad, Delhi.

In this piece / video - as well as in its regular usage - the term mahaprayan Mahaprayana  is used to insinuate the death of a man who has made his departure from this world. That is why this word is not used for Taraka Brahma because He did not depart - He is the eternal Parama Purusa. So the mahaprayan term is for ordinary humans, i.e. mortals.

If we ignore those dogmas it defeats the purpose of the formation of Ananda Marga.

The term mahaprayan is the fourth word of the heading of the video. If you type this in as a Google search and you will see it there printed as well, and watch the video also.

THEY NEVER LIKE TO ADMIT THEIR HYPOCRISY

GUILTY OF CELEBRATING ABSURD AND DOGMATIC MAHAPRAYAN

Note: The following letter expressed frustration about MPD dogma.

Namaskar,
Bro. NK of Delhi has started a thread against Mahaprayan on Facebook and replied to it, which is as follows-

On one hand masters & followers of Kolkata Admn. is guilty of celebrating this Absurd & Dogmatic Mahaprayan, all other factions- Ac.' Anand Giita's WWD, Ranchi Admn. led by Rudranandji & 3rd front led by Vandanandaji has never made any effort to remove Mahaprayan chapter from Caryacarya or opposed it from any platform.

I suggest them to take this pledge / oath after celebrating this fake & foolish Mahaprayan:
O!! Dear Anand Giita Didi, Rudranandji, Sarvatmanandji & Vandanandji, kindly represent / lead your group in this Oath Ceremony-
We, the group leaders & our followers, proudly declare that "Our Guru is no more".
We, the group leaders & our followers, proudly declare that as "Our Guru is no more", we are bound to be divided and will make no effort to get united.
We, the group leaders & our followers, proudly declare that we are liberated souls need not to follow, Guru's given Ideals.
We, the group leaders & our followers, proudly declare that we will run the organization as per our whims, fancies & agenda not as per Caryacarya or Procedural Order or WT Conduct Rules.
We, the group leaders & our followers, proudly declare that AM Mission was propounded by "Our Guru, who is no more", its HIS responsibility to establish HIS Mission, not ours.
We, the group leaders & our followers, proudly declare that we are superior & first class citizen of organization to Junior workers & Grihiis.
We, the group leaders & our followers, proudly declare that we will fight & crush every one, who will go against our wish & selfish agenda.

Even Worse Than Animals

Even Worse Than Animals

Baba says, "Those who have established themselves in their spiritual being through the practice of spiritual cult are the real human beings. Others, who do not move on the subtler and sublime path of spirituality, and behave like animals, are humans only in name. Human beings alone have the privilege to do sa'dhana'. Animals, because of their intellectual deficiencies, are unable to adhere to the spiritual cult..."
"Human beings, on the other hand, have the capacity to develop even in the spiritual realm. Those who do not pay heed to this special gift are animals, nay, even worse than animals. Animals are unable to make efforts for their spiritual development, whereas humans do have this ability." (SS-24, Mysticism and Spirituality)

Note: Modern medical science classifies everyone with a human body as being human, but according to Baba's above teaching all are not human. In the above guideline Baba differentiates how and why.

O' Parama Purusa, You are always along with me; You never leave. You are always keeping me under Your divine umbrella. I remain under Your shelter. O' my Dearmost, it is so sad that in spite of this, I still do not realise that You are always with me. Mahaprayan of Great Devotee & Pioneer of South India

Baba

Mahaprayan of Great Devotee & Pioneer of South India

Dear brothers and sisters,

Namaskar.

It is with much sorrow that I share with you news of the mahaprayan of Shrii Ulga Muni, a.k.a. Muniappanji - his mahaprayan occurred on 16 Aug at 11am in South India. At the time of his mahaprayan he was 97 years old.

Respected Muniappanji was a very senior Ananda Margii and great devotee who was fully dedicated to Ananda Marga and dharmic practices. With revolutionary spirit he worked hard to bring the organisation back onto the right track. And prior to 1990, he was blessed to have had many opportunities to see Baba at various programs including DMC etc.

Respected Muniappanji lived most of his life in Chennai. All wts would stay at his house - his residence was treated almost like a jagrti. There was near constant traffic of Wts at his place; and it was this address that served as the Delhi sector camp office in the late 1990's for the Margii News Bulletin. Muniappanji was a fighter against groupism and narrow sentiments. Years and years before it became commonly known that there was severe groupism in AMPS, Muniappanji was taking a strong dharmic stand against this malady. So Muniappanji was an early and vigilant voice against groupism. In the 1990s, when the Margii News Bulletin was printed in various languages then his address was always listed and sent around the globe. Muniappanji will be remembered as a great hero and pioneer who boldly stood on the front lines of the "awakening movement" - i.e. fight against all sorts of dogma, scriptural distortion, and injustices like the curtailment of margii rights in Ananda Marga.

Here is the way his address was listed in the Margii News Bulletin:

Ulga Muni, Balaji Industries, Manalo, Main Road, Jyotinagar, Thirwathiryur, Chennai 600060, India

May we all take solace in the fact that Shrii Muniappanji was a devotee of the Lord. Certainly he will attain mukti or moksa, accordingly. Baba will lovingly bestow His grace.

With deepest regards,
Namaskar,
at His lotus feet,
J. Krishnamurthi

Note 1: DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REAL MAHAPRAYAN AND FAKE MPD

Here it should be qualified that there is both real mahaprayan and fake mahaprayan. Real mahaprayan marks the death of any ordinary human being. This is the proper use of the term: To note a person's departure from this earth. That is the meaning of the mahaprayan term and that is the standard way the term is used in Indian languages.

Then there is the fake, or so-called, or dogmatic mahaprayan. That is when certain vested interests try to apply the mahaprayan term to Parama Purusa Himself. This is grossly inappropriate because when Parama Purusa Baba is that Divine Entity who is beginningless and endless and resides always in our heart, then it is entirely wrong to proclaim that He is gone.

That is why rational margiis are protesting; because the Oct 21st program is so-called mahaprayan. So-called means that something is fake. Parama Purusa is eternal, thus for some vested interests to declare "mahaprayan of Parama Purusa" is nothing but so-called mahaprayan.

Mahaprayan only really happens in the case of human beings, not Parama Purusa.

Note 2: ASTERISK NOTE ABOUT MAHAPRAYAN

* Mahaprayan (Death): Many are aware that mahaprayan (death) is the common term used in India and especially in Bengal to describe the death of an honoured or even ordinary person. In that way, the obituary columns of the newspapers of Bengal regularly cite the mahaprayan (death) of various persons of society who died or passed away.

Some may get confused and wrongly think that the word 'mahaprayan' (death) is one extraordinarily devotional term to be used in association with Parama Purusa. But that is not at all the case. Rather to do so is only to undermine the eternal presence of Parama Purusa. That is why no devotees ever use the word 'mahaprayan' in reference to Lord Shiva or Lord Krsna. Because Lord Shiva and Lord Krsna exist eternally. Then there is no question of Their mahaprayan (death).

Those who think that Baba is a mortal human being celebrate Mahaprayan on a particular day of the year related with Baba; but, in the true sense, Baba is Parama Purusa so He is eternal and there is no question of His mahaprayan.

And for those who need still more technical proof then all this can be clarified quite readily by referencing the dictionary. Specifically in the Samsad Bengali-English dictionary on page 742. Checking there it will be confirmed that the word 'mahaprayan' means death. Which is why it used to refer to the passing away of even common citizens.

Note 3: STORY- SITTING ON BABA'S LAP MEANS DIED?
(contributed by one margii)

Recently after dharmacakra, a senior margii was recounting his experiences of having dharma samiiksa with Baba.

He said, "After being punished by Baba, then He called me close and placed me on His lap - I remained there for some time soaking up His love - and He blessed me."

We all enjoyed hearing about his personal account with Baba during dharma samiiksa. When he finished telling his story, there was a call for questions. Various people posed their queries.

QUESTION BY A NEW MARGII

Towards the end, one new margii raised his hand and asked, "How did Baba bring you back to life?"

Everyone stared at the new margii in amazement. There was a look of astonishment all around - people were really shocked to hear him say this.

The new sadhaka sensed that something was awry.

He said very matter-of-factly, "I thought that sitting on Baba's Lap means that he (the margii) died - that is why I asked that question."

This was quite eye-opening for those of us in the room: Through our language and expression we had unknowingly taught someone to think that being on Baba's lap is the equivalent of death. Because it seems that nowadays people only use the phrase "Baba's lap" when a person has died, such as "Let him rest peacefully in Baba's lap", as if all who have died have accumulated there. Many emails have been written this way.

MUST NOT ONLY REFER TO DEATH

At that moment I thought that everyone, new and old, should be clear about the real and devotional meaning of this phrase, "being on Baba's lap." It should not become stigmatized such that it only means death. Because in its true sense, the phrase "being on Baba's lap" really does carry a highly devotional and sweet feeling.

It is just like how a small child sits on its parent's lap. In a similar way, a spiritual child (human being) sits on the lap of Parama Purusa. By Baba's grace this can happen anytime in one's sadhana, especially in dhyana. Such a phrase then should not become  stigmatized because too many people only use it at the time of death.

We should be careful that we do not relegate "Baba's lap" only to the point of death. All these following terms and phrases also only refer to death:

ve bhagavan ko pya're ho gaye
(he has been loved by God)

ve svarga sidhar gaye
(he has gone to heaven )

ve guzar gaye
(he passed away)

mahaprayan hoyeche
(he died)

We should ensure that the same death connotation does not get attached to, "being on Baba's lap." Because the phrase - "being on Baba's lap" - is a devotional experience that can happen today itself in sadhana, and especially in dhyana. The phrase "being on Baba's lap" should not lose this quality and only mean death. It should not meet the same dark fate as happened with the term harijan.

MUST NOT MEET SAME FATE AS HARIJAN

As we all know, these days in India nobody uses the term harijan to mean "a devotee". Whereas 70 years ago it was used in that way. The term harijan did mean bhakta. But ever since the time of Gandhi when he glued the harijan term to the lowest so-called caste, i.e so-called untouchables, nobody uses the the harijan to mean devotee. Never. Because the term harijan has been stigmatized to mean "untouchable". Nobody uses it to mean "devotee", but that is the original and true meaning of the word.

The phrase, "sitting on Baba's lap", should not meet a similar fate. It should not lose its devotional quality and just refer to one's death. That will be very negative.

A VERY DEVOTIONAL EXPRESSION

There are thousands of recorded stories by sadhakas where they use the phrase, "on Baba's lap", when describing their experiences of being with Baba: He used to bless them and bring them on His lap. People should understand the deeply devotional value of this expression, and not just think that Baba's lap means death, i.e. that you can only sit on His lap at the time of death. Still today there are thousands of margiis walking this earth who sat in Baba's lap. And not only that, there are countless more sadhakas who were blessed by Baba in dreams and dhyana wherein they sat in His lap. And still today this deeply devotional experience is attainable by sadhakas, by His grace.

There are so many ways an aspirant can reach unto Baba's lap including in sadhana and especially during dhyana. That is the main idea that should be preserved. Sadhana is a devotional practice and one can sit on Baba's lap in dhyana. We should make it cent-per-cent clear to one and all that the phrase, "sitting on Baba's lap", does not mean death.

RECENT EXAMPLES

Here are quoted lines from recently posted emails on various forums, wherein the writer uses the phrase - "in Baba's lap" - with the occasion of death:

- "May he rest in HIS loving lap of eternity."

- "We are sure that Baba has taken him in His loving lap."

- "May his soul rest in Baba's lap forever."

- "Let her rest peacefully in Baba's Lap - which she always desired."

- "now he is in beloved Baba's lap"

- "May his soul get peaceful place in His lap"

- "He is now in BÁBÁ'S loving lap"

- "May Baba bless him with a seat in His lap."

- "May BABA accept him in HIS divine lap!"

- "May Baba take him in his eternal loving lap."

- "Please keep him on Your lap forever."

All of the above lines are commonly written in eulogizing the deceased. Of course, it is fine to write like that. Here the point is that this same phrase "in Baba's lap" should also be used when describing one's devotional practices and experiences. But these days mostly it is used in a eulogy and rarely used to recount one's devotional experiences - unfortunately. By this way, the phrase "in Baba's lap" is being misused and step by step the real meaning is being forgotten as now people more commonly use the phrase to eulogize those who have died, and much less so to express their devotional feeling. Unfortunately, the meaning and inner spirit of the phrase is getting lost.

History of the Photo

Baba

This emails contains three sections:
1. Posting: History of the Photo
2. Links

HISTORY OF THE PHOTO

(Note: This is the third letter in this series - links to earlier postings are appended below. - Eds)

Namaskar,
"On the Dedication page of his book, one dada has placed a photo of Baba, and  directly next to Baba, in the same exact type of chair, sits one dada – the very wt who wrote the book. So Sadguru Baba is sitting in one chair, and this dada is sitting next to Him on the exact same level.
This makes it look like in Ananda Marga the Guru is just someone ordinary and it is common for one to sit next to Him – in the same type of seat, on the same level. This gives a very poor impression to the reader." (From Posting: In Guise of Baba Story: Self-Propaganda)

The photo that Dada T placed in his book is a shocking display. Yet, the full effect may not be readily apparent to those not familiar with the entire background and history. Here then is a wide-angle, panoramic view of the circumstances behind this photo.

THE PHOTO WAS TAKEN IN AN AIRPORT

First and foremost, this photo of Dada T sitting next to Baba was taken in the waiting room of an airport. This was purely a social scene where Baba has to compromise in all kinds of ways. Some in the waiting room were gossiping, babies were crying, still others were eating tamasik food etc. It is Baba's liila that most of the time He traveled among the common people and did not book chartered flights.

In a crowded airport lounge while waiting for a public flight, non-margiis like Tom, Shyam, Ram, Dick or Harry would also be in the vicinity around Baba. That does not mean that all the people around Him were great bhaktas or accomplished sadhakas. Just it was the liila of the day that ordinary folk were also around Taraka Brahma while waiting for their flight. Just like how all kinds of people lived in Baba's neighborhood in Jamalpur etc.

So none should think that the person - any person - sitting next to Baba in an airport waiting room is therefore a great spiritualist or had a special relationship with Baba. Just it was a mundane environment where people chose their spot to sit while waiting for their flight.

So that is one aspect of this photo that everyone should be aware about.

IN ANANDA MARGA DEVOTIONAL FUNCTIONS

GURU'S SEAT IS UNPARALLELED - NO ONE SAT NEXT TO BABA

The next thing to know about is how devotional venues were arranged those days in Ananda Marga. New margiis and those not present may not have a clear vision in their mind's eye about this. No one should think that those devotional gathering were casual affairs where bhaktas were sitting around Baba at the dinner table or that sadhakas used to lounge with Baba on lawn chairs in the open courtyard. Never.

In tantra, Sadguru's place in devotional functions is very specific and well-defined. His stature is unparalleled and no bhakta casually sits next to Baba. That is unheard of and against the ethic of tantra.

So those days, first Prabhat Samgiita and kiirtan were performed by so many bhaktas, then the Jai slogan was raised, and when there was maximum devotional fervor, Baba's car would arrive, His entourage carefully cleared and arranged the pathway, and then per His wish Sadguru Baba would graciously enter the pandal, blessing all with His divine presence. And He would slowly take His seat on the dais. All eyes were on Him.

Thus there was no question of anyone leaning in and sitting next to Baba. That would have been the height of indecency and disgrace. No bhakta could ever think of doing that - of spoiling the scene in that way.

Here the point is that with Sadguru Baba's presence, our Ananda Marga devotional gatherings were sanctified events where Guru's stature was unparalleled. There was nothing casual about those settings. The more devotion one had, the greater the desire to humbly sit at the feet of Guru.

So the photo of Dada T seated next to Baba in the airport runs in stark contradiction to the entire school and ethic of tantra. There is no place for such a photo in a Baba story book.

Namaskar,
in Him,
Laksman

Humans Are Half-Slave And Half-Free

Baba

This email contains 2 sections:
1. End Quote: Human Being Are Half-Slave And Half-Free
2. PS #4471:

The section below demarcated by asterisks is an entirely different topic,
completely unrelated to the above material. It stands on its own as a point of interest.

*************************************************************
Human Being Are Half-Slave And Half-Free

"Although the Cosmic Mind is the supreme controller of this world of emanation the unit mind also has a certain amount of control over the nerve fibres and nerve cells – the unit body. We cannot call the power of control an absolute power; we may call it “dominion status”. By virtue of this power, the unit mind directly controls the nerve fibres and nerve cells of the unit body. As the unit mind is controlled by the Cosmic Mind, Parama Puruśa controls the nerve fibres and nerve cells of the human body indirectly. If He so desires Parama Puruśa can also control them directly, too. In that case the entire physical structure of a human being will be vibrated by the cosmic vibrations of Parama Puruśa, causing the function of the unit mind to remain suspended for that period. This state can be called the samádhi of non-inferential bliss. During this samádhi spiritual aspirants sádhakas enjoy divine bliss directly from the Cosmic Mind without the help of inferences or tanmátras. Under normal circumstances human beings enjoy blissful feelings in the nerve cells and fibres and later in the mind; but during the samádhi of non-inferential bliss, the blissful vibrations are created directly in the mind because the Macrocosmic mind does not require any fixed medium – He can use anything as His medium." (APH-4, The Samádhi of Inferential and Non-Inferential Bliss)

Humans are freedom - but within a limited scope. For instance, we may walk or run if we choose, but we cannot fly on our own power. That is an inherent limitation; there are some things we cannot do. So according to our given dominion, we are free to act. And as we exercsise our free will we must face the consequences of their misdeeds. There is no scope for blaming others.

In contrast, animals are fully bound; they have no free will. They cannot act independently. Cosmic mind has programmed them in a certain way and those animals live according to their animal vrttis. They have not scope to do otherwise.
