Namaskar,
Baba places great importance on the study of history as it enables both individuals and communities to learn from past mistakes and thereby progress. Failing that, without the study of history, people commit the same old blunders over and over again. In which case, they remain shackled by the crimes of the past and are unable to advance. So the review of history holds a unique place for the progress of any society.
As Ananda Margiis, we must know the history of Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha (AMPS) and our stand on key events. And we should certainly know the role that our Wts have. First and foremost, they are to adhere to the various codes of discipline and conduct. Yet time and time again this standard is not followed, as evidenced in the below account. This piece was first posted in 2017 on this network, yet these types of situations are quite common in our AMPS.

Namaskar,
Sadguru Baba Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji has given strict conduct rules for Wt life. If any avadhuta / avadhutika is not adhering to these rules - and going against their fundamental vow - then who can think that Wt is being sincere and true.
http://anandamarganewsbulletin.blogspot.com/
The spirit of being an avadhuta / avadhutika is to dedicate everything to Marga Gurudev. Getting avadhuta diiksa and receiving an avadhuta name represents a new birth – a new beginning, all the while leaving behind their old life. In that blessed state, their everything belongs to Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji. The avadhuta / avadhutika channelises every iota of their existence unto Him. Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji becomes their mother, father, & everything. With their new name this is the oath they have taken.
What true didis do?
Those avadhutas / avadhutikas surrender their all – their entire I-feeling – at His lotus feet. Their name has changed; their address has changed; their identity has changed. They renounce all connection and ties with their former worldly life, their worldly family, and their worldly birth. Such avadhutas / avadhutikas offer everything unto Parama Purusa and accept Him as their sole ideal. In that special state of renunciation, they have nothing left to call their own - and no link with their past worldly experience.
That is why in the conduct rules of the avadhuta / avadhutika, there is no scope for rekindling their connection with their worldly parent or openly accepting their worldly family members as father, mother etc.
Wt conduct rules state, “No relationship should exist with worldly family.” (1)
For the avadhuta / avadhutika, Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurti reigns supreme and assumes all those roles. There is no such thing as the glorification of one’s own unit existence. Rather the avadhuta’s goal of life and the be-all end-all of their existence is to glorify Baba. They are to be established solely in Marga’s Guru’s glory.
Wt conduct rules state, “Avadhuta shall always keep himself engaged in the service of Gurudeva with sincerity and devotion, in thought, words and deed, in subtle and in crude spheres, in inner and outer expressions of life.” (2)
Our wholetimers are to think about Him and focus on Parama Purusa each and every moment.

Example contravening CR
Now see here below in yellow highlight what one avadhutika wrote on a website:
I now treasure the countless experiences with my father, who took me nearly every weekend, sometimes alone and sometimes with my siblings, on adventures in nature. Sometimes we rode our bicycles through cranberry bogs, sometimes we drifted silently in a boat through a cypress filled swamp, sometimes learning to recognize deer tracks in the forest. We rarely spoke during those times, as my father was.
The above is what one avadhutika Didi wrote on a website. Sadly, this type of expression - where one is reconnecting with their worldly father - is not befitting an avadhutika, whose life is meant to stand as a pillar of dedication and sacrifice for Guru.
One other tragic aspect of this account is that this Didi signs all her articles using her worldly family name. This further undermines her status as an avadhutika and sets an awful precedent. No true sannyasi in Ananda Marga would ever contravene their oath to Guru in this way. More about this is written below because when we understand her problem then we can best help her.

Right vs wrong didi
Indeed, the avadhutika / avadhuta’s goal of life and the be-all end-all of their existence is to glorify Baba. They are to be established solely in Marga’s Guru’s glory.
Wt conduct rules state, “Avadhuta / avadhutika shall always keep himself / herself engaged in the service of Gurudeva with sincerity and devotion, in thought, words and deed, in subtle and in crude spheres, in inner and outer expressions of life.” (3)
Here the point is that when an ordinary person takes a vow to become Wt they give up their worldly relations and dedicate everything to the vast universal family and Cosmic Father etc. For the avadhutika and avadhuta, this feeling is not just in theory only. This should be reflected in one’s breathing and living - in one each and every work. So it is completely off the mark for an avadhutika to write a public article where she reminisces about her worldly relations. Such a misguided approach goes cent-per-cent against her essential avadhutika vow to Guru.

Conclusion
An avadhutika in Ananda Marga is to lead a life of renunciation in service to Sadguru Baba. There is zero scope for an avadhutika to keep any link with their former, worldly family. Baba guides us that our avadhutas / avadhutikas are to look after the greater society, the larger family, in service unto Parama Purusa.
Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Householders have to care for two families whereas the renunciates have to care for only one. The householders’ two families are their own small family consisting of father, mother, brothers, sisters, husband or wife, sons, daughters, etc. and the larger human family, that is, the entire universe. The householders will have to maintain a balance between both these families. The householders will have to look after the larger family as well, but for that they may take the assistance of the sannyasins. Sannyasins do not have a small family of their own – their family is the entire universe.” (4)
Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “The sannyásin has only one family – the big family.” (5)

Which Didi disobeyed Baba’s rules
The name of the avadhutika who contravened her fundamental oath of dedication to Guru is Didi Ananda Devapriya. Unfortunately, since taking her avadhutika oath years ago, she could not live up to the true meaning of being an avadhutika. This is like being phony or pseudo.
Here below is a photo of this Didi. Not only does she write stories about her worldly childhood but even now as an avadhutika she uses her worldly last name “Deshaies” when she signs her articles on the web. This Didi still uses the worldly family name of her biological mother and father. Kindly read more about her below so we can help her and ensure others do not commit this same sin.

“Deshaies” is her worldly family name
It is quite unfortunate to see what she is doing. On the one hand this Dada presents herself as an avadhutika of Ananda Marga, and side by side she signs her articles using her worldly last name: Deshaies. She is still using the worldly family name of her worldly mother and father etc. This goes 100% contrary to the spirit of renunciation.
What she should have done is sign her articles as Didi Ananda Devapriya, or as Avadhukta Ananda Devapriya Acarya. That would have been appropriate. But to constantly apply her worldly family name - i.e. Deshaies - taints her dedication to Guru. Yet this she has done on numerous articles, always calling herself by her worldly last name: Deshaies, Deshaies, Deshaies. This is just a typical name used in any materialistic country. It carries no spiritual meaning. And even more importantly, when Didi took her avadhutika oath she renounced all worldly ties. Using a worldly family name is against an avadhutika’s vow to Guru.
Top of all she reminisces about her laokik / worldly life which is anti-dharma and against the Wt conduct rules. Because at that time her name and identity were different. The moment one becomes an avadhutika they have since gotten a new name and their father, mother, everything has become Guru Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji. If they reminisce in their writings, talks, and discussions about their former worldly life then it means they are outrightly disobeying Guru’s spiritual tenets.
Didi has been promoting this for 2 years
It is so unfortunate that for the last 2+ years (since Sep 2015) this Didi has been promoting her article about her worldly childhood. See her below announcement from 26 Sep 2015. When readers clicked on that link they saw Didi writing about her childhood and signing using the family name “Deshaies” - just as she did in her above photo. And if you visit that website today you will see that it is still going on.

Process
So the above is the unfortunate example of one of our Wts who has sadly adopted a fake approach. Sadguru Baba Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji has given certain rules for Wt life, and if any avadhuta / avadhutika is not adhering to such rules - and going against their fundamental vow - then who can think that Wt is being sincere and true.
Earlier when this avadhutika was a child and her name was Denise then surely her worldly father was her guide. But then as she became a margii and her name was changed to Damayantii then she gradually became linked with Guru, and still maintained her worldly relations. And then she went for wholetimer training and became a brahmacarinii, and ultimately she took that final step and became an avadhutika (Didi Ananda Devapriya) whereby Guru became everything. All worldly relations from her former life were dropped. As an avadhutika she is to surrender everything at the lotus feet of Guru and accept Him as the only Goal of life.

No scope to think about worldly family
There is not an iota of scope to publicly reminisce and bask in childhood memories. Our wholetimers are to think about Him and focus on the Goal.
Tadekam’ smara’mah…Tadekam’ nidha’nam’
Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “That Cosmic Entity alone should be created in your mind and no other object…He is the terminating point. He is the Supreme Desideratum.” (6)
Below, in the links section, are two links to Didi’s article about her childhood memories with her worldly father and you will see that she signs using her worldly family name.
