Sin of PP

Baba

Sin of PP

Namaskar,

Baba places great importance on the study of history as it enables both individuals and communities to learn from past mistakes and thereby progress. Failing that, without the study of history, people commit the same old blunders over and over again. In which case, they remain shackled by the crimes of the past and are unable to advance. So the review of history holds a unique place for the progress of any society.

As Ananda Margiis, we must know the history of Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha (AMPS) and our stand on key events. Please read this below letter as an historical account which was first posted more than five years ago on this network.

In Him,
Dr. Gopal

Namaskar,

After seeing the recent brochure where PP Dada is highlighted (see below), we can all think how far this is consistent with Guru’s teaching.

In Prabhat Samgiita #337, Guru says,

“A’loker path cha’r’ibo na’...A’mi nijere praca’r karibo na’...”

Here is the purport of this Prabhat Samgiita:

Parama Purusa, by Your grace, I will not leave the path of sadhana, bhakti, or the path of refulgence. I will tread on the path which You have shown me. By Your mercy and guidance, I will mold myself according to Your desire and make my mind straight and simple…I will not extol myself in front of anyone, nor eulogize my own existence, nor propagate my own personality on any occasion. I will never promote myself or invite acclaim. My Lord, You have taught me to propagate the glories of the Supreme. I will sing the grandeur of Parama Purusa - not anyone else - and l refrain from praising myself.

By this above Prabhat Samgiita (highlighted in yellow), it is clear that Ananda Marga ideology does not appreciate self-praise. Before 1990, no brochure ever featured a cover photo of a dada or Purodha Pramukha; this was never done. Instead the ideals were highlighted. This was the dharmic system Sadguru inculcated.

PP Dada is greedy for fame

By this below photo brochure of the upcoming Tatanagar DMS (10-12 Oct 2014), PP Dada and Rudranandaji are committing sin. They are violating key directives of Ananda Marga philosophy. They are not highlighting dharma but rather their own self.

PP Highlighted for Tatanagar DMS.jpeg

Bad people indulge in self-praise

In fact, in any ideal society self-praise looks ridiculous. People are ridiculed for this. So people refrain from praising themselves.

In contrast, in debased societies when people have a strong desire to be praised, then they hire some yes-man for this task and give them some payment or post. And they keep those hired persons nearby; their designated duty is to praise. This is the regular tactic that is done.

Many degraded, ego-centric kings were like that in the past. They kept certain ministers only for the special duty of praising the king. This was the only work of those puppet ministers.

These days also, many arrogant politicians, hungry for praise, pay money to the newspapers to get their self-glorifying propaganda published. To highlight their own personality politicians do like this. But no good person behaves in this way.

What to propagate

Before 1990, no brochure ever featured a cover photo of a dada; instead the ideals were printed.

So in Ananda Marga, this type of praise is not accepted because the aim in Ananda Marga is to propagate bhagavad dharma - the divine ideals, not mundane things. We are to propagate Parama Purusa because He is the real owner of everything.

Both of these dadas committed sin

Now the unfortunate situation is that Rudrananda wants to praise himself to get more power. So now Rudrananda is propping up PP Dada Vishvadeveananda for his own (Rudrananda’s) power play. So both are guilty in this setting.

Ac Chandradevaji of Tatanagar was passively and blindly following those at the helm and in that way became a stooge. That is unfortunate.

All in all, it is dogma. PP Dada himself is a stooge and Rudrananda is propping him up in order to heighten his own [ Rudranandaji’s] prestige. But whatever the reason, PP Dada is also a culprit.

This goes against Baba’s teachings. In place of propagating Ananda Marga ideals, PP's gurudom is highlighted. The fact that he himself is a stooge is not an excuse.

Ananda Marga ideology states, “One should not praise oneself or any other person. There are many people who are very fond of praising themselves by telling everyone what wonderful things they have done, but, as mentioned in this sloka, kiirtana is not for one’s own self but for Hari. Even though people are taught to do kiirtana for Hari, they still make the mistake of praising themselves too much. Sometimes their self-praise is so intense that others are obliged to say, “Please stop praising yourself so much.” They forget that their self-applause is rather boring for others. Human beings should realize that no one likes to hear the self-praise of others.” (1)

Namaskar,
In Him,
Mahabali Singh

Note 1: काम करते रहो, बोलने की कोई ज़रूरत नहीं है

Baba, is completely against the notion of praising oneself. Following is His talk with margiis during His discourse Jammu.

Note 2: Do work, no need to tell anybody (English)

Here is the English summary of the above:

"You did a little work and propagate: 'I have done, I have done.'  "I have done this, I have done that". People praise themselves too much saying 'I', 'I'. Oh, why would you say that much I, I.
Oh, Why would you say "Maen, Maen"? If anyone does "Maen, maen, maen" it is a cat. *
(Laughter)
What you say? Who does "Maen, Maen"? The cat. Yes,
Man does a little, (showing with the two fingers and thumb of His hand) this much, and expresses (showing by expanding both the hands to max) this much.
Don't do like this. Continue to do work with His thought in mind. No need to tell anybody about it. Parama Purusa is doing every work of entire universe, does He talk about it? No He does not. Niirava karmii bano, Be a silent worker." (English summary of original Hindi)

--

* Here Baba is making a joke because the term 'maen' in Hindi means 'I'; and, a very similar sounding word 'maiun' in Hindi is the sound that a cat makes - just like 'meow' in English. So Baba is making a joke that those who say I, I, I are just like the cry of a cat. Readers should understand that maen and maiun are pronounced with a very nasal voice and sound similar.

Note 3: Must not indulge in self-praise

Ananda Marga ideology states, "One should not praise oneself or any other person. There are many people who are very fond of praising themselves by telling everyone what wonderful things they have done." (3)

Note 4: Mad for their little “I”: “I did this, I did that"

Ananda Marga ideology states, "People of action are also not free from vanity: “I did this, I did that – I built this road when I was a minister I constructed this bridge when I was in the Public Works Department” – this is how people become mad for their little “I”. Thus we see that although action is free from lethargy, it is not altogether free from vanity." (4)

Ananda Marga ideology states, "Those who think that they will get Him through the actional faculty are finally engaged in actional infighting. “I did this, I did that”." (5)

Lowly action of Shubhaniryashananda

Baba

Lowly action of Shubhaniryashananda

Namaskar,

Vishvadevananda (PP) and Shubhaniryashananda (SSHK) have engraved their own names on a plaque in the memory of one group leader, Nigamananda. They think they are doing something great and wonderful whereby their names will be remembered for posterity. But the exact opposite is the case.

Only fake sadhakas glorify themselves

In this below Prabhat Samgiita, Baba clearly guides us not to indulge in self-praise etc.

"Áloker---kono avakáshe káháro sakáshe, nijere pracár karibo ná, ámi,..." (Prabhat Samgiita #0337)

The basic idea of this song is:

I will not extol myself in front of anyone, nor eulogize my own existence, nor propagate my own personality on any occasion. I will never promote myself or invite acclaim. Baba, You have taught me to propagate the glories of the Supreme. I will sing the grandeur of Parama Purusa - not anyone else; I will refrain from praising myself.

Service vs business

Baba has also given the teaching that service is unilateral. That means that the person doing the service does not want or expect anything in return. It must be completely selfless, otherwise they are doing business.

Ananda Marga ideology states, “Sevá means “selfless service”. Service is there where there is no desire to get anything in return. When there is a desire to take while giving, it is not service, but business. Any kind of business is attached to give-and-take. In many newspapers one comes across many advertisements of business establishments – “In your service since such-and-such year.” No, it is not service, it is business, because the person does not give anything without taking something. So in service there is only giving and no question of taking. Even if somebody gives in return, the mental attitude should be not to take anything – this alone is service.” (1)

So if anyone is truly involved in service activities, they will not be concerned with public acclaim and fame, i.e. having their name engraved on a plague. Service and social prestige etc are mutually exclusive; they cannot coexist.

Two bogus avadhutas did for posterity

Now please see this below image. This is a well (kupa) in Ananda Nagar adjacent to Jivesh dam, which is near RM office / Central office. This is the main well in Ananda Nagar where most ever DMS attendee goes to take bath and get drinking water etc. And on this well these two fake avadhutas - Vishvadevananda and Shubhaniryashananda - have engraved their own names for their own self-glorification.

Actually, the money was donated by margiis, but those dharmic margiis prefer to remain silent and unknown. But these narcissistic avadhutas could not resist the opportunity to highlight themselves so they put this plague on the well for their eternal glory. In so doing they have betrayed Baba’s guideline.

The irony is that hat so-called Vishvadevananda (PP) & stooge Shubhaniryashananda fail to realise that they are just exposing themselves as being very lowly. They built this well in memory of Nigamananda, who himself was debauched, characterless, and immersed in group politics, not dharma pracara. In that sense, it is akin to the days of slavery in the US when big statues were built of slave owners and famous white supremacists etc. And now those same statues are being forcibly removed and people are ashamed to be associated with them. Same will be the case with this well. In the future, everyone will realise that they were just narrow-minded pawns involved in group infighting etc. Indeed, Vishvadevananda and Shubhaniryashananda are revealing their petty mentality. People will just mock them in the future, not honour them.

Conclusion

WT conduct rule states, "Avadhuta will always keep himself engaged in service of Gurudeva with sincerity and devotion in thought, word and deed, in subtle and crude spheres, in inner and outer expressions of life." (2)

But these avadhutas are just indulged in self-praise and factional antics.

In Him,
Satya’

Thanks to the dharmika who took this photo and to those who publicized the photo in order to show that this type of gross activity is not appreciated in tantrika life. This type of understanding and vision only vanguards have. I appreciate their pointed understanding of Ananda Marga ideology that self-propaganda is antithetical to spiritual progress and not allowed in Ananda Marga society as it is harmful for sadhakas.

Concerning sadhaka is not to be given any credit

Ananda Marga ideology says, "The duty of human beings is only to continue their efforts to please Parama Purusa. Thus when any work is done, the concerning sadhaka is not to be given any credit; the credit should be given to Parama Purus'a." (3)

Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "This arrogance, which makes them want to display themselves, forgetting all other things, is termed aham'ka'ra [vanity]. The predominant vrtti  behind it is aham [ego]: 'I am everything, there is nothing beyond and outside me'." (4)

Ananda Marga ideology states, "People of action are also not free from vanity: “I did this, I did that – I built this road when I was a minister I constructed this bridge when I was in the Public Works Department” – this is how people become mad for their little “I”. Thus we see that although action is free from lethargy, it is not altogether free from vanity." (5)
