Baba
Cunning margii / wt: devious ploy to start dirty dogma
Namaskar,
Baba has given all the guidelines from birth to death and all points in between. Yet on the point of death, we live in an era where many who call themselves Ananda Margiis utterly disobey Baba’s straightforward guidelines.
(a) Making mundane offerings in the name of the deceased is strictly forbidden. Only billy goats (and other animals listed in Caryacarya) may be offered, if there is dire need in the deceased’s village, but even in that case it is not done in the name of the deceased.
(b) Using kiirtana as a tactic to lure attendees to death related activities / ceremony after the 12-day period is deceitful.
These are some of Baba’s straightforward guidelines about our Ananda Marga ceremony. Yet time and again, we see these principles violated by fake Ananda Margiis. And sadly, this just happened again recently. Kindly read the following report.

Sinful incident: overview
#1: Recently, some were going against Baba’s rules at the Bhopal jagrti. In particular, the Kodwani family dedicated झूला (a swing) in the memory of the late DK Kodwani who passed away on April 2021.

No death-related ceremony after 12 days
#2: At a death ceremony or related event, Sadguru Baba strictly forbids making offerings of any object other than the animals enlisted in Caryacarya. And even then it is never done in the name of the deceased. This offering of a swing is a contravention of Caryacarya.

Note: In Caryacarya, Baba does give the option for the family of the deceased to donate a “bull, buffalo, ram, billy-goat, or any other male domestic animal”, if there is a dire need in the deceased’s village. All that said, the natural lifespan of that animal is 8 to 10 to 15 years maximum. So that gift will not last for generations and generations. Not only that, the family will not carve the name of the deceased on that billy goat etc. It is not a permanent fixture on the jagrti, like a swing, or veranda, or patio etc which is often accompanied by a plaque in the memory of xyz, as is the custom of greedy people in India. Not only that, the donation of the billy goat must be made within the allotted 12-day period from the time of death. Considering all this, the donation of a swing by the Kodwani family is not allowed.

Ananda Marga ideology states, “If anyone’s name is to be chanted in japa, it is the name of Parama Puruśa.”....And if anyone’s name is to be repeated, it is the name of the Lord. Usually worldly people remember constantly their earthly ... But that is all useless. Only the name of Parama Puruśa should be remembered and chanted.” (1)
Wt is the main culprit
Verily, the Wt who helped arrange this ritualistic death related ceremony for the Kodwani family did it solely to collect a few coins from the family of the deceased. That Wt is completely a greedy opportunistic vulture. In own story, Baba mocks such opportunistic priests. It is both tragic and shocking that our very own Wts would act in this horrific way. That Wt is the chief culprit because for the sake of a few coins, he is going against Baba’s teachings to profit off of a bereaved family.
Most certainly, what the Kodwani family is doing is in gross violation of Caryacarya - on numerous fronts. But the worst player in all of this is the Wt who is preying on the sentiments of the grieving family in order to gain a few rupees. And this creates a cascading effect across the society wherein that dogma spreads.
As Ananda Margiis we should adhere to the codes of Caryacarya and Baba’s teaching, and not be tempted or fall prey to Hindu dogma etc.
Appended below is the invite sent out by the Kodwani family for their dogmatic event; their deceased family member is prominently shown in the upper right.

Dogmatic death-related ceremony invitation
See how they put the photo of the deceased in the upper corner, yet their big lure to draw people to this dogmatic death related ceremony is against Caryacarya; it is deceptive kirtana. Hence, they used kiirtana as bait to draw attendees to join in a death related ritual that was beyond the 12-day period. That is against Caryacarya.
Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “ So what should one do? Haven't we any social responsibility for dead persons? When the necessity arises, we should offer shraddhá for them, not barley or wheat or woollen clothes or wrappers or ghee or sesame. What can we do? As long as a man is here in our society we have a social responsibility for him. Human beings are social beings, we have a social responsibility for them. And when they leave this world and go to the other world, they go beyond the scope of our responsibility. We cannot render any service to them. Our social responsibility is over as soon as the cremation is done.”
“.. Here [in AM] we require no edibles, no clothes or anything else. We offer our shraddhá, and we do nothing else, and we can do nothing else.” (2)
