Worthless deeds of POB group

Note: Those reading this should not make their evaluation based on contemporary western or eastern values. This should be seen according to the purview of Ananda Marga ideals, especially the Wt conduct rules as this case involves a “senior avadhuta”. Here the only intention is to adhere to the tenets of Ananda Marga ideology. With this in mind kindly read the below letter.

Namaskar,

Below is the scene from the recent POB summer retreat in NY. But before looking at that photo, let us first reflect on Guru’s teachings.

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “The only duty of one who has attained human body in whom human potentiality is present, is to progress on the path of sádhaná. No one of intelligence should waste even an iota of time. With every respiration your longevity is diminishing. From the day of your birth as an infant you have been speeding towards the funeral pyre. Every moment is taking you closer and closer to death. So I say do not waste your time.” (1)

Note: Now look at the below photo. See how there are three Wts seated at the table absorbed in one silly, pseudo-culture board game. This is what kids do in their free time. But sadly, at this summer retreat of the POB group of NY sector, these avadhutas / avadhutikas are completely indulged in this dopey game. Our Wts are meant to stand as the bastions of dharma and what better place than to put this on display than a sectorial-level gathering. But instead, these Wts have lost their senses and forgotten their dharmic duties. Seeing this, new people will think that our avadhutas and avadhutikas behave just like worthless people in materialistic societies who wallow away their time in petty, infantile games like checkers etc. The whole situation is sad.

There are innumerable people on the planet looking for something great to engage in, yet when they come to such retreats and see our avadhutikas and avadhutas killing their time in a useless way, those vibrant seekers think, “This is not the place for me; I shall go on looking elsewhere.” The biggest problem nowadays is that our own avadhutas and avadhutikas fail to adhere to even the most basic codes of conduct. Verily this is a symptom of one thing: those coloured jackals have lost the goal of life.

Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, “Remember, until every person in the universe accepts the Ananda Marga ideology, you have no opportunity to rest.” (2)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “Sadvipras will never have any rest. They will have to continue fighting tirelessly. This fight is the life of living beings.” (3)

Ananda Sutram states, “Tasmáddharmah sadákáryah. [Therefore dharma should always be practised.]” (4)

Is it any wonder then that AMPS and all such splinter groups like the POB of NY sector are just shrinking and shrinking.

Myth: Pre-1990 AMPS books are mistake-free

Some believe the myth that the pre-1990 AMPS books are the gold-standard. But that is simply not true. Here are a few examples for you to check out for yourself. Then you will reach the conclusion that their claim that “the pre-1990 books are the gold-standard” is false. It will be debunked and proven to be a mere myth.

Example #1:
pre-1990 Tattvika Praveshika margii rights is full


Here below is the full paragraph from the “Ananda Marga: A Revolution” discourse about margii rights printed in Tattvika Praveshika book in 1957. Kindly read the text outlined by the red box at the bottom of page 121 and continued on page 122 in the text outlined by the red box.







The above text outlined by the red box is the first section about margii rights printed on page 121, and below is the second section on page 122 of the Tattvika Praveshika book (1957). These two sections, marked by the above and below red boxes, represent the full version of the AM Revolution discourse.









The text outlined in red in the above two scans is the full paragraph about margii rights printed in the Tattvika Praveshika book in 1957. So the Tattvika Praveshika book contains the complete paragraph about margii rights. And below are five more places where the same paragraph about margii rights has been published in full.

All told then, there six publications that present the full margii rights paragraph in the “Ananda Marga: A Revolution” discourse:
(a) The original book, "Tattvika Praveshika" (1957)
(b) Prout Nutshell, part 11, p.1 (Dec 1987) 1st edition
(c) AM Philosophy in a Nutshell, part 3, p.165 in (Mar 1988) 1st edition
(d) A Few Problems Solved, part 7, p.1 in (Jan 1988) 1st edition
(e) Seminar Notes of January 1993;
(f) Cosmic Society 75th anniversary Edition (1996).

Now here below, the following book is also a pre-1990 publication of the “Ananda Marga: A Revolution” discourse, but the paragraph about margii rights has been cut and deleted.


Example #2:
pre-1990 same article margii rights deleted - AM Philosophy (B, 1988)


The Ananda Marga philosophy (B) August 1988 edition also contains the discourse “Ananda Marga: A Revolution.” But in this book, i.e. Ananda Marga philosophy (B), the key paragraph about margii rights has been deleted. Essentially the margii rights paragraph was removed and Tiljala replaced that with the idea expressed in the below two sentences:

    Ananda Marga makes no distinction between a family person and a sannyásii. It needed the courage of a revolutionary to say so.

Conclusion:
“pre-1990 AMPS books are the gold-standard” is bogus & false


By the above, it is clear that examples #1 & #2 do not match. They are radically different both in length and in message. Yet they are from the same section of the same discourse. And both are from pre-1990 Ananda Marga books. In that case, how can one say that all pre-1990 books are the gold-standard.

In review, example #1 says that margiis are “deserving of more respect” and example #2 says something completely different. Plus example #2 is much shorter as the original Tattvika Praveshika paragraph was deleted. And again, these are both pre-1990 era books presenting the same discourse in grossly different ways. Obviously both chapters cannot be correct. So the myth that “pre-1990 AMPS books are the gold-standard” is bogus and false. That is just a myth.

We have to think rationally. We cannot issue a blanket statement that the pre-1990 or post-1990 AMPS books are the gold standard. We have to see evaluate publication on a case by case basis and then compare that with the original cassette / audio file. After careful review, we will know the standard of each book.

Those who are alert should watch out and save Sadguru Baba’s discourses. Remaining in dreamland that pre-1990 books are the gold standard is self-delusional and self-destructive.
