Mutilation
Namaskar,
Barbaric action is not new. In Hindu mythology, there was an instance when the mythological figure Ram cut the nose of the lady Shurpnakha in order to punish her. This myth was created 500 years ago, but it is not going on in India these days.
In the Semitic religions like Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, this type of mutilation of the body part has its place. This started thousands and thousands of years ago when certain kings used to control their slaves and mutilate them so they could not become the king. Those days the tradition was that the king should have their entire body intact.
Initially when Judaism came into being, Moses accepted this decree and still today Jews are following the tradition of genital mutilation. When Christianity came into existence this same tradition continued, and later on when Islam started still this tradition of mutilating the body continued.

Pollution: inhuman barbaric practise in AMPS also
Now in our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha due to fear of Christian priests, Islamic mullahs, and Jewish rabbis, certain publishers have included this practice of genital mutilation in the English edition of Caryacarya. And because of this Publications error innocent babes are getting maimed on a daily basis. Sadly margii parents have been misguided by the Publications Department’s errors and in turn subjected their children to circumcision etc, not realising that it is against Baba’s system.
In the Middle East and African countries, female genital mutilation is also very common. In Islam, women are treated as property and do not have their own existential value. This in human ghastly religious Islamic code - males think that what they do is justified. So it will never get changed. So long as that belief is there it is difficult to solve this situation, and females will unfairly and unjustly abused.
Since thousands of years, those in power would humiliate and control others by mutilating certain body parts. Sometimes they would cut and chop the nose and ears, and sometimes they were chopping the male or female genital - or both. It is human nature that people do not like to give up their habits - right or wrong. So this barbaric tradition is still continuing. And this is not an isolated case - unfortunately. we have to oppose at any cost. Initially they mutilated people to humiliate then it became a social tradition then it became a religious rule.

When people are so brainwashed
Sadguru Baba says, “Renaissance people will have to start a movement for social equality and fight against such inequality based on sexual difference. Are women like cattle, or sacks of cloth that people give as gifts at the time of marriage? Are they slaves to be sold to others? As long as women lacked courage or intellect, they tolerated these things – but what a great humiliation! To submit them to such indignities is far worse than to whip them publicly on the road. Are women simply like bundles of cloth to be sent to the washerman’s house?” (1)
Ananda Marga philosophy, “Renaissance people will have to start a movement immediately to fight against all these disparities; otherwise if fifty percent of the population, that is the ladies, remain downtrodden, how can there be all-round progress of human society? So these are all the social duties, the social responsibilities of the Renaissance movement. Renaissance people will have to wage war on these disparities, these inequalities – they will have to be rooted out of the society.” (2)
Prout philosophy states, “If there are continued conversions to Islam, women will become second grade citizens, because they are not given equal status with men in Islam. Consequently, there will be further degeneration.” (3)

Here is a tragic case that demands our awareness lest such torturous treatment continue on more innocent people.

QALAT - Doctors at a hospital in Qalat, capital of Zabul Province in southern Afghanistan, are treating a brutally tortured woman whose husband cut off both her ears and nose, broke her teeth and shaved her head only three months after their marriage. The victim, 16-year-old Nazia, is also suffering from psychiatric distress due to her experience, according to a doctor in Qalat hospital.
From her bed in Qalat hospital Nazia told IRIN her story:
“My family wedded me to Mumtaz [a 40-year-old man] some three months ago, in Pakistan. Soon after our marriage we moved to his house in Qalat where his relatives told me he had another wife who had died a year ago. In Qalat my husband was jobless and was always complaining about economic problems. Two weeks after we moved to our new home he beat me for no obvious reason.
...
“One week later he knocked me down, bound my hands, and then broke my teeth with a stone. He also poured boiling water on my feet. After this I could not walk and was in a lot of pain, but he said I was only pretending.
“No one was coming to our house so I could not tell anyone about my situation. I had nowhere else to go either. My family lives in Pakistan.
“One night I could not cook dinner for him because I could not stand on my feet. He got so upset when he found that there was nothing for him to eat. He started beating me. Again, he bound my hands with a piece of cloth. I felt a terrible pain in my left ear and then blood was flowing down my face. I thought that he wanted to kill me so I started screaming. Then I felt a similar pain in my right ear and more blood.
“I tasted a mixture of blood and tears in my mouth while my voice was fading. I felt the worst pain in my life only a few seconds later when my husband used his knife to cut off my nose. I fainted. (Courtesy of Rawa News )

Ananda Marga ideology states, “Merely saying, “Do not do this – it will be a sin to do it” will not do. If you say, “Do not do this” you have to state why one should not do it. Similarly, if you say, “Do this” you should also state why one should do it. In this way the human intellect will attain freedom. Through the movement for the liberation of human intellect, through the effort for the liberation of the human intellect, human beings are established in spirituality. Lack of this effort turns human beings into religious bigots, and feuds in the name of religion are the result.” (4)
Ananda Marga ideology states, “I have already said that Ananda Marga is the first movement aimed at liberating spirituality from the unwholesome influences from dogma. Hence you must not in any way encourage dogma. Rather, you should carry on an endless fight against dogma. And while fighting against dogma, you will realize the actual truth, and when you will come in contact with truth, you will be established in real spirituality.” (5)
It is very difficult to persuade religious bigots
Ananda Marga ideology states, “India did not see the frenzied expression of religious bigotry evident in other religions, which was the cause of intense religious feuding. How many lives were sacrificed over a single strand of hair? It is very difficult to persuade religious bigots to follow the path of logic because according to them even to listen to others is a sinful act.” (6)
KABUL, Afghanistan — A young woman has been hospitalized in northern Afghanistan and is hoping to travel to Turkey for reconstructive surgery after her husband cut off her nose, the police and the woman’s family said on Tuesday.
Reza Gul, 20, was attacked by her husband on Sunday after arguing with him over his decision to take a 6- or 7-year-old niece as his fiancée, Gul's mother, Zarghona, told theTimes. Gul's husband, Muhammad Khan, 25, then allegedly cut off her nose with a knife. Khan and his family had beaten and abused Gul throughout her six-year marriage, Zarghona added. Which bed is best
Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "Do not sleep on a soft bed." (1)
Note: Baba's above guideline is key for wellness. Some people, however, who are unaware about health and hygiene, get swayed by pseudo-culture and use a spring-loaded bed with a thick mattresses. But that is very detrimental for the various joints, muscles, and organs of the body; one will also suffer from incurable back pain and problems with the spine. Moreover, sleeping on a soft mattress adversely affects the body's systems leading to digestive disorders and disease.
Conscious people know that soft beds lead to the onset of many diseases while hard beds massage the body. So one should be aware and not fall into the pseudo-culture approach of using a soft bed and thereby invite more dangerous diseases. Sincere sadhakas keep away from using a pillow also.
On the spiritual side, Baba guides us that those using a hard bed in day to day life develop a body that is capable for intense psycho-spiritual practice. Keeping this view, including many more benefits, Baba has graciously introduced this above rule. Those who follow this guideline realise its value.
Extra points
Regarding this point there is no difference between males and females. It is just a matter of habit. Both Dadas and Didis are to use hard bedding - it is the same rule for all Wts.
While the body gets habituated to sleeping on a hard sleeping surface, one can initially use a 1/2 inch or 1 inch cushion or folded blanket on the hard surface - and slowly adjust with completely hard bedding by removing the blanket / cushion over time. The ideal is to lean towards the hard side. Sleeping on a carpet is OK but not ideal. Best is to sleep on a thin blanket or cloth on hardwood.
The above applies to people in good health.
