Really great + 5 more

Baba

Really great

Namaskar,

Becoming vast or great does not mean becoming big like one huge banyan tree. Although a banyan tree is enormous, it gets that way by consuming all the air, sunlight, water, and nutrients for itself. That banyan tree does not allow even a single blade of grass to grow underneath it. This expression of largeness is not something admirable or great, rather it is suffocating.

In all spheres, Sadguru Baba has set the gold-bar standard. He has beautifully defined what is the top-rung of achievement, as well as how one gets there. Included in this is Baba's special explanation about greatness: What makes someone truly exceptional. No doubt, in the general society - whether it be in the field of politics, business, sports, or education etc - people have their own views about who and what is great. In Baba's revolutionary approach, He has given His unique and dharmic teaching on greatness that stands on a plane all its own, far above.

Nowadays so-called top Wts suppress & exploit others

Unfortunately, nowadays a bad trend exists in our AMPS. If we look around we can see that those so-called great Wts suppress lower-posted workers and / or margiis. These so-called, top-dog Dadas reach the height of their glory by pushing down on the shoulders of general members. They force margiis to remain in a subservient position, and they do not allow margiis to grow.

This is evidenced by the curtailment of bhukti pradhan rights, the eradication of margii rights, and the manipulation of the ACB etc. In all spheres, those so-called great Dadas impose restrictions on the margiis to satisfy their own greed for power and post. Within their own ranks they just create 'yes-men' all around them. Sincere and dharmic Wts have been pushed aside and stooges become the close 'yes-man' to so-called top Dadas. This is the unfortunate formula these days.

To attain their so-called greatness, so-called top Dadas strike down junior wts and general margiis and exploit them. Meanwhile in this dark era, those who are really great are temporarily hidden somewhere - remaining unknown. In the materialistic era of the general society and in this current era in our AMPS, those who are deemed as "great" function in a way that is opposite to Baba's equation of greatness. So-called great people are but exploiters, lacking any benevolent motive. Whereas Baba's recipe for greatness means working for the welfare of others and making them great. That is the true way to determine who is really great.

Brahma is unquestionably the Greatest of the great, but in their own way humans can also achieve a certain level of greatness. Those who follow a God-centered philosophy are drenched in spiritual thought and service-mindedness. When others come in their contact people naturally feel inspired and get uplifted. By seeing the ways and conduct of a true sadhaka, others will also grow. Those selfless sadhakas are ever-ready to help others advance. In that way, they can bring common people up to a higher level. According to Baba, those who do like this are great.

So-called greatness in capitalism means sucking the blood

Unfortunately, in today's materialistic society, there are so-called great people all around. They are adorned on the cover of various magazines, propped up on stages, applauded at sporting events, and praised by the size of their wallet. In this present era, there are so many who are called "great" - for one reason or another; but, they do not match up to Baba's standard.

Whether in the field of business, entertainment, or law etc, in cent-per-cent of the cases those materially-minded people only become "great" by sucking the blood of others. Only by stepping on the backs of others and by clawing and scratching for each and every inch did they get "to the top". Such 'greats' retain this place by exploiting others. What to speak of elevating other people, they do the opposite - they suppress them. So these so-called greats in the regular society have nothing to do with helping others to grow or expand. They achieved their status by hoarding money, grabbing a high post, and garnering prestige, by riding the backs of others etc. And if one follows them that person will become degenerated.

What is usually called 'great' in this materialistic, vaeshyan era is completely opposite to Baba's spiritual, neo-humanistic approach. In capitalism 'greatness' is achieved by pushing oneself above others, and in our dharmic spiritual approach greatness means raising others up to a standard of excellence. Those who present themselves as "great" are not really great. Because their 'greatness' comes from sucking the blood of others. They are unable to make others great, just they prop themselves up by stepping on the heads of others and reaping the fruits of their existence. Simple and innocent citizens get exploited and suppressed when they come in contact with such so-called great persons. That is why we can never call any selfish, materialistic person as 'great'. Because they are unable to lift others up to a higher standard - rather they push those people down into the depths of degradation.

Conclusion

Sadly, in AMPS, unworthy persons are sitting on the post and given a great amount of respect. These so-called great Dadas want to turn PP Dada into a veritable god. So they can usurp his power and exploit sincere Wts and margiis. This has been the unfortunate trend for the last many years. Similarly, becoming “great” in this vaeshyan means rising up by suppressing others. However, these are inherently faulty approaches. Because vastness or greatness should not be measured by how much money or prestige one has accumulated, or by being like the banyan tree that suppresses everything else. According to Sadguru Baba, the one who is truly great elevates others to that point of greatness as well. In our God-centered approach, greatness is defined by making others great.

~ In-depth study ~

One who elevates others from degradation is great

Here following is Baba's special guideline about (a) vastness and greatness, (b) the link between the two, as well as (c) what it means to be great.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “The literal meaning of Brahma is “One who is great”, and its metaphorical meaning is Brhattvád Brahma, Brḿhanattvád Brahma: “One who is great and has the capacity to make others great also”. Now, there may be a person who tries to destroy others by squashing them like ants or trampling them underfoot. Such a person may be “great” according to the word's literal meaning, but certainly not in the noble spirit of the term. One who opens new paths for the development of others, one who elevates them from degradation, is great. This is the underlying spirit of the word Brahma: He does not wish the destruction of anyone; He wants to establish all in the exalted state of expansion. He wants all to shine in the brilliance of their existence. Thus to all the entities of the universe, He is Púrńa Brahma [Full Brahma] – only He is Brahma. He is the unparalleled Brahma, the incomparable.” (1)

As Baba explains in His above teaching, one of the qualities of Parama Purusa is that He Himself is vast (brhat). And not only that but He has the capacity to make others vast. So, according to Baba's revolutionary view, being vast does not mean just being some big or large entity; rather, one must possess that special ability to make others equally vast. That is the unique requisite which Baba outlines in the above shloka.

And - per Baba's guideline - same is the case with greatness. One can only become great by making others great. As He directs us, vastness and greatness do not come in isolation or exist in a vacuum. To become 'great', one must have that special quality to make others great. This is the exceptional attribution of those who are really great. Only those who have this unique ability to raise the standard of others to the level of greatness can truly be called great.

Ananda Marga ideology says, “This Supreme One is called brhat. The word brhat literally means ‘One who is very vast, who is beyond the scope of all limitations, who is immeasurable and unfathomable’...Brahma literally means the Entity who is Himself very vast, and whose ideation makes others vast like Him.”
Brhattva’d Brahma Brm’hanatva’d Brahma
Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “Brm’hanatva’d means making others vast. He himself is very great, and hence He is called Brahma; but this is not enough. Besides that He has the capacity to make others equally great like Him.” (2)

Ananda Vanii states, "It is action that makes a person great. Be great by your sádhaná, by your service, by your sacrifice." (3)

In my moments of happiness

"Eso priya, eso priya, eso priya he varańiiya, diner sakáshe..." (Prabhat Samgiita #4461)

Purport:

Parama Purusa, my dear, adorable One, please come before me in the daytime - in my moments of happiness and joy. By Your grace, my eyes shower tears for You day and night - all the 24hrs in bhakti. I long for You each and every second. I want to realise You in this life itself - not after death.

Parama Purusa, my most revered, kindly bring Yourself before me amidst the beautiful, sweet full-moon. I am requesting You to enter in my mind - in that spiritually intoxicating, honey-percolating, ecstatic ambience. Arrive in the divine land of song, dance, tune, and melody. My Dearest we will be together forever there.

Parama Purusa, Baba, lift me up from dungeon of staticity and establish me in maha bhava forever; and, make me forget everything by Your heart-satiating smile, and grace me so I may be fully ensconced in Brahma bhava. I surrender and offer my mind unto You. Please accept it. My most Near, I am asking You to come to me with Your most captivating and heart-pouring smile...

Role of Proutists in today’s political scene

Prout philosophy states, “Most political leaders are either physical or intellectual criminals. Common human beings have to be protected from the clutches of these criminals. Proutists have to fight against today’s party politics. Proutists are not against politics or political science, but they have to fight against professional politicians. Only Sadvipras have the right to engage in politics; other people should be swept out from the field of politics. Political leaders depend on physical power. Though they talk of non-violence, they are guarded by the police force. Physical power is the crudest manifestation of energy. Sadvipras will use intuitional power – intellectual and physical power will work as their slaves, to be used according to the indications of intuitional power. It therefore goes without saying that a Sadvipra is stronger than a political leader.” (1)

Prout is intuitional knowledge

Prout philosophy states, “The approach of PROUT is subjective approach through objective adjustment. This presupposes a connecting link between intuition and intellect. This connecting link or touching point is called “Bodhi Jiṋána”. With the help of Bodhi Jiṋána, intuitional knowledge can be utilized for solving mundane problems. Thus PROUT is a Bodhi Jiṋána.”

“Logic is a psychic survey. Such a survey may or may not be correct, therefore it is futile to follow logic blindly. The result of your psychic survey is called your rationality. This psychic survey, embedded in relativity, may or may not be correct. Intuitional vision is the best logic. Intuitional vision should be your guiding ideology. For example, it is an axiomatic truth that everything has come from the Cosmic Father and everything will merge in Him, but this truth is beyond the scope of intellectual logic.” (1)
