Baba
Namaskar,
The below is a rough English translation from the Hindi edition of Subhasita Samgraha part 16 (sixth chapter).
"Think about Him - that Parama Purusa is mine - I belong to Parama Purusa. Parama Purusa is with me. At any cost I am not alone. In my happiness He is with me and He is also with me in my sorrow. If I call Him in my pain and do not call Him in my pleasure and joy, that will not do. Just as I call Him in times of sorrow similarly I will call Him in times of happiness. In my state of sorrow I tell Him, O Lord, I am in misery. Please come and remove my sorrow and pain. Likewise in times of happiness I will request Him, O Parama Purusa I am ensconced in a wonderful feeling of happiness, please come and enjoy that sweetness with me. You should call Him always-- both in moments of sorrow as well as in times of joy and happiness." (Gorakhpur, 29-1-84)
Now please find a word for word, "as is" transcription from the audio recording of Baba's original Hindi discourse.
[DMC 29 Jan 1984 Gorakhpur.]

Once again, the above is an "as is" transcription of the audio recording from Baba's original Hindi discourse given on 29 Jan 1984 in Gorakhpur. This is an exact transcription of the original audio file; but if you compare it with the published Hindi version of this discourse in Subhasita Samgraha part 16 (6th chapter), you will find that they do not match up.
The question then stands, "Why does the printed version of the Gorakhpur discourse in SS-16 (Hindi) not match the transription of the original Hindi audio."
Here is the reply:
As we know, Baba gave the above discourse originally in Hindi. But the publisher did not print the transcription of the original recording. Instead, as is indicated in publishers page of the Hindi edition of Subhasita Samgraha-16, the in-charges translated the original Hindi into Bengali and then re-translated from Bengali back into Hindi and printed in Subhasita Samgraha part 16 (Hindi). So Baba spoke in Hindi and they translated it into Bengali, and then they treated that Bengali translation as the original, and they translated it back into Hindi and published that in Subhasita Samgraha part 16 Hindi Edition (6th chapter). That is why the printed Hindi discourse does not match up with the original transcript - that is why there are so many flaws in the printed discourse.
Suppose Baba had originally given the above discoure in Spanish. And then those publishers translated the original Spanish into Bengali and then treated that Bengali version as the original. And then they translated that Bengali "master version" into Spanish and printed it as Subhasita Samgraha part 16 (Spanish).
Suppose Baba had originally given the above discoure in Italian. And then those publishers translated the original Italian into Bengali and then treated that Bengali version as the original. And then they translated that Bengali "master version" into Italian and printed it as Subhasita Samgraha part 16 (Italian).
Suppose Baba had originally given the above discoure in German. And then those publishers translated the original German into Bengali and then treated that Bengali version as the original. And then they translated that Bengali "master version" into German and printed it as Subhasita Samgraha part 16 (German).
It defies all logic and reasoning to translate a discourse mindlessly into Bengali. So then why did they do it? They did it for purposes of Bangalisation - i.e. trying to show Bengali as being superior and the most important. That is the cause of their dealing; and that is the cause of gross and glaring errors in the printed version of SS-16 (Hindi).
When in fact the best approach is to simply transcribe Baba's discourse in the language in which it was originally given - as was done above.
So in this case they should have simply transcribed Baba's original Hindi discourse. And that "as is" version should stand as the master printed copy. But they did not do this. Instead, they openly declared in the Publisher's page that they first translated Baba's original Hindi discourse into Bengali and then translated the Bengali back into Hindi. And that is how they published it in the book. Because of this faulty approach, the printed Hindi discourse in Subhasita Samgraha part 16 is not accurate and does not match up with the above "as is" Hindi transcription.
Until you speak up, this nasty approach and horrible problem will never end. And you will never get a proper discourse into your hands of what your Guru has given for you. Such publishers are ruining our devotional scripture by their methods of Bangalisation. Those who want to know more about this should write us.
Namaskar,
