Janma’s’tamii + 4 more

Baba
Janma’s’tamii

Namaskar,

Anyone around those days remembers that every year on the occasion of Mahsambhuti Krsna’s advent, Baba would bless sadhakas by giving general darshan or a special program, and tell stories of Lord Krsna. Baba would refer to it as: Janma's't'amii. There is an audio file where you can listen to Baba's voice from that occasion (link appended below).

After bringing recognition to the day, Saguru Baba would invariably take some time to talk about the life of Lord Krsna, His dharmic teachings, or scenes from the Bhagavad Giita. This was an annual event observed on the auspicious day of Mahsambhuti Krsna’s advent.

Baba's example:
do not celebrate day Mahasambhuti leaves the body

Sadguru Baba never highlighted or talked about the exact day or date that Lord Krsna or Lord Shiva left their physical body. Verily, Baba blessed humanity with two books about the lives of Lord Krsna and Lord Shiva. But not even in His books, Namami Krsnasundaram and Namah Shivaya Shantaya, does He mention the day or date. This type of commemoration Baba never did. He never said that, “Today we have to do something in observance of of when Lord Krsna withdrew His form as Mahasambhuti.” Baba never spoke of or gave any indication about this day. However, Baba would highlight the day of advent of Mahasambhuti. Every year He would mention Lord Krsna's janma's't'amii.

All in all, Ananda Margiis understand that Baba only highlighted the advent of Mahasambhuti, and never the day of the withdrawal of Mahasambhuti's form because as Taraka Brahma He is ever-present.

Conclusion

All Ananda Margiis understand and realise that Baba is pure and perfect in all respects. He is omniscient and all-merciful. All that was needed was given. Just as Baba never talked about the actual date of Lord Krsna's withdrawal of His Mahasambhuti form, likewise He purposely did not give the program of so-called mahaprayan in AMPS. As His disciples, we should just let the day be forgotten as has happened with Lord Krsna and Lord Shiva. Baba only highlighted Lord Krsna's advent.

So-called purodhas put this in Caryacarya

Sadguru Baba did not include the so-called mahaprayan section in Caryacarya. This is the work of pseudo-purodhas. By a unanimous vote, those purodhas in 1990 inserted their so-called mahaprayan appendix into Caryacarya and since that time they have committed innumerable blunders which everyone is aware about. So we should be strict in Caryacarya and not get caught up in this dogmatic mahaprayan program which was not given by Sadguru, but instead by certain pseudo-purodhas. No true Ananda Margii, no true disciple, can ever think to follow so-called mahaprayan.

Baba was giving a moral teaching

With regards to the final moment of Lord Krsna’s physical body, Sadguru Baba spoke how the hunter accidentally shot Lord Krsna with a poisonous arrow. Here Baba is giving the teaching that if someone commits a mistake unknowingly, then that should be overlooked or forgiven. So Baba was giving a teaching on morality and ethics etc. He was not stating that an annual death day ceremony should be observed and Baba did not identify the exact spot or date etc. Baba did not say where the exact place is, like Tiljala or xyz Tomb etc, and He did not give importance to that day and the events at Prabhasa Tiirtha as He usually gives to janma's't'amii.

12-day period of mourning - not annual death day program

Baba lovingly teaches us never to engage the mind in any pessimistic thoughts. That is why Baba forbids us from celebrating the death of any worldly family member - year after year.

Rather Baba has granted a 12-day period of mourning to show respect and that is all. (Reference Caryacarya - 1, '95 Edn, p.65)

Baba has written that such death day occasions should not be celebrated year after year as this brings sadness and pessimism in the mind.

But tragically, the dogmatic and sorrowful so-called mahaprayan program is being observed year after year, going against the tenets of our Ananda Marga philosophy. Some innocent and well-intentioned margiis still attend and this letter is meant to help bring them onto the right path.

Sandalwood grove

“Ei, surabhita candan vane, ke pát́hále tomáya…” (Prabhat Samgiita #3081)

Purport:

O’ Divine Entity, who has sent You to this fragrant, sandalwood grove. If You have come on Your own, please tell me whom You are looking for. What is the reason of Your coming?

This sandalwood grove was once ruled by tigers, and it was fraught with snakes. Verily, this sandalwood grove was a very dangerous place that was treacherous and frightful for anyone passing through. Which of Your magical charms have all fear and frightfulness vanished from the sandalwood grove and wholly transformed it into a  place impassioned with love.

The sandalwood tree never bears any fruit. So hungry and thirsty visitors returned disheartened and unfulfilled from the sandalwood grove. Your arrival served as great consolation to all who came and surrendered in the dust of Your pink lotus feet. The sandalwood forest was an enchanting place and the abode of bhakti…

How humans are plant-eaters

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "In those days there was little security in people's lives. On one side there were fierce animals and on the other a scarcity of food. Both of these were constants. Nowadays if there is a scarcity of food in one place people can bring food materials from someplace else but that was not possible then. If food appeared one day there was no certainty [nishcitatá] that it would appear the next. Due to these kinds of circumstances human beings used to have an appendix to their intestines for accumulated or excess food. As it was needed this food would stimulate salivation in the mouth and be fully eaten and digested. The proper eating and digesting of the surplus food in the appendix is called romanthana in Sanskrit and jábar kát́á in Bengali. In good English we call it “rumination” and in spoken English “chewing the cud”. Many herbivorous (vegetarian) animals still ruminate and a need still exists for it in their wild state. As the certainty of food supplies gradually increased, the need for a corporal appendix to the intestines lessened. Eventually there was even not the slightest need for it. Today a small vestige of it remains in the human body although it is no longer used in times of distress. Human beings have lost the capacity to ruminate." (1)

Note: Animals that are herbivores have a large pocket adjacent to their stomach where they stock and store extra food. And in the nighttime, or whenever they do not get sufficient food to eat, they regurgitate that stored food from the pocket and then chew it again. After chewing it it goes back down the digestive tract and into the stomach for complete digestion. Humans also used to do this in the past because they faced an uncertainty in their food supply. They never knew when they were going to eat next. So extra food was eaten and that extra amount would be deposited in the pocket - or appendix. And later, when they got hungry that food would be regurgitated and then eaten again and digested. This process of “chewing the cud” was only done by plant-eating animals - and humans. Nowadays, in general, humans do not face uncertainty with regards to their food. They eat regularly. So humans no longer have any need for an appendix. And when it is not in use then it loses its quality and strength also. But the fact that only herbivores were the ones ruminating shows that those initial humans were also vegetarians. They needed an extra pocket to store food, and now today for humans that pocket - or appendix - has become useless.

In conclusion:
(a) Only herbivores have an extra pocket (appendix) to stock food.
(b) Certain animals ruminate - as well as early humans.
(c) Those who ruminate are 100% vegetarian, i.e only vegetarians ruminate.
(d) This proves that humans are vegetarian.

This logic can be used in pracar work also to convince others to become vegetarian and give up eating meat.

Bhaeravii
