Baba
For young adult
Namaskar,
Beloved Baba is the eternal Parama Purusa, yet the mahaprayan organisers are treating Him like one mortal who died.

How ironic - Guru opposes but disciples support dogma
It is just like how Lord Buddha was against idol worship; he himself did meditation. But the moment Lord Buddha left his physical body then his own disciples starting making and worshiping his idol. So the dogma which Lord Buddha opposed, his own followers implemented for him. How ironic.
And now a similar thing is unfolding inside AMPS. Sadguru Baba is against the annual shraddha dogma. In Caryacarya, Guru has given the clear directive that there must not be an annual mahaprayan / shraddhainjali function / death day / shraddha in pre-1990 Caryacarya.
Ananda Marga Caryacarya states, "The period of mourning should not extend beyond twelve days." (Caryacarya-1, Shraddha Ceremony)
Yet certain Wts have imposed an annual death day anniversary program - i.e. mahaprayan / shraddhainjali - in AMPS. And what to speak of 12 days, it has been going on for 34 years. How ironic: The very function of mahaprayan (i.e. shraddhainjali program, death day ceremony, shraddha etc), Guru has condemned, yet those MPD organisers are performing this very dogma for Him.

Rule given by Caryacarya
Bear in mind, Caryacarya-1 chapter 32 details how our Ananda Marga shraddha ceremony is meant only for human beings. Applying that to Mahasambhuti was and is demeaning. Yet it is common knowledge that from 1990 and many, many years thereafter, the mahaprayan leaders used the “Omn madhu” shraddha ceremony mantra for Mahasambhuti. That was completely inappropriate and sinful. Because that mantra and that ceremony is for humans, not for Mahasambhuti.
The death of a human
Here below is the mahaprayan commemoration of one human being, Jyoti Basu. So the mahaprayan function is not something godly and not for Sadguru.
As we know, the concept of so-called mahaprayan is something very mundane; it signifies the death of a human being; it is a common phenomenon across the Indian subcontinent.

As evidenced below (see image & caption) and in this series of letters, the program of mahaprayan is everywhere; it is widely observed for the death of a human. It is not something divine. It is not something for the eternal Sadguru.
Jyoti Basu’s mahaprayan
Please see the below newspaper death announcement. In the title the term highlighted in orange is the deceased’s name Jyoti Basu in Bengali script; and, the word just following that is the term mayaprayan. If you type this word into the Google search engine you will find this article.
Communists observe mahaprayan of their comrades
In this particular mahaprayan observance, the article and photo is of the comrade Jyoti Basu. So even the followers of communism perform the mahaprayan function. Who does not know that Jyoti Basu was the head of the communist regime in West Bengal and that he was an arch enemy of AMPS.

The mahaprayan program is not a new phenomenon that started in 1990. For ages and ages so many humans have had their mahaprayan. Since the Sanskrit language came into existence - thousands of years ago - the concept of mahaprayan conveys the idea of the death of a human being.
Mahaprayan / shraddhainjali not something divine
Sadly, some Margiis have been indoctrinated into believing that the mahaprayan / shraddhainjali program is something divine for Sadguru. They were brainwashed in this way. The truth is that in India and so many lands that use the Sanskrit language, the mahaprayan program has been in vogue.
Ananda Margiis should be clear on this point: Mahaprayan is the observance of someone's death. That someone may be a neighbor or a bank or a school teacher or a communist etc - the death of any citizen regardless of their social standing is their mahaprayan.
The mahaprayan function is presented by the organisers as a death ceremony for human beings. So naturally the locals think that a death ceremony is being convened every October in Tiljala. They think it is in honour of the death of the Marga Guru - and that Marga Guru is also a human being, not Sadguru.

Ananda Margiis should stop & think
So I ask you: Pause and think. This letter is not about groupism; this is an issue of bhakti. Guru is being abused. Don't you think Guru is with you always? In the tantra of Ananda Marga, sadhana starts with this feeling that, "Guru is with me." One must have this basic feeling. So naturally Ananda Margiis think their Sadguru is with them. Then why are we allowing this dogmatic, annual death ceremony, i.e. mahaprayan / shraddhainjali.
Namaskar,
in Him,
Amal Chowdhury
