Top of all Sister Giita was a true sadvipra and a veritable warrior for dharma. She boldly opposed many fundamental and sinful dealings including the curtailment of margii rights, scriptural distortion, the destruction of PKB and BP rights, and numerous other injustices in AMPS. She was a circular writer who raised the awareness of countless margiis and Wts and unmasked all kinds of bad people who were exploiting margiis. She had that rare quality of standing tall in the face of exploitation. And it is even more rare to find this among sisters. In our AMPS, only a few like Dr. Vidya Jain of Bhopal etc had this type of courage and ability.

Destroying Baba's books & tearing down margii BP rights
It is difficult to imagine how things were those days as even whispering against injustices was a punishable offense. Remember, Giita was tremendously active in those dark days from 1991 - 2000 when devils were ruling a united AMPS and had full control. In that era, the punishment for writing circulars for alerting all was expulsion, victimisation, and vilification. It was absolutely brutal, not like in this present era when the situation is completely different and people are writing, whereas earlier it was impossible. That is why most people were keeping quiet. Those days of AMPS, in the early 1990s, it was like living under the gestapo in Nazi Germany or under the Gulags of communist Russia. Stricken with fear and terror, those days most were not even whispering. Yet the very sanctity of our Sadguru Baba's teachings was under full attack as those demons in Centre were deliberately destroying Baba's books and tearing down His systems, like margii and BP rights etc. They were not just after power but verily threatening the integrity and authenticity of His dharmic gifts for humanity. AMPS was united under Sarvatmananda's rule up to 2000 and all sorts of grossly unideological things were done. They literally clamped shut the mouths of margiis. Yet in that backdrop, Sister Giita rose up and shed the light on those sinful and devilish dealings.
Sycophants trying to become family acaryas
Over the last 28 years many in her area succumbed and became goody-goodies, Sister Giita ji was a fighter and a dhamika. In Maleny where she was living various stooges, sycophants, and spineless bootlickers of centre were busy trying to become family acaryas and they created a lot of problems for her. But Giita ji did not cow down. Rather, she stood tall, always fighting for dharma and the establishment of Baba's ideology.
Without her brave efforts
With her immense contributions, the whole Ananda Marga society benefited a lot as Giita heightened everyone's awareness by writing circulars etc. Without her brave efforts, we would have remained uninformed about so many burning issues in our organisation, especially in Australia. She brought to light various injustices in Suva and around the globe related with AMPS.

Ananda Vanii states, "History bears testimony that whenever a person states the absolute truth in any sphere of life, whether it be spiritual, social, economic or otherwise; sought clarification of doubts or protested against injustice and wrongs, the evil forces forthwith plotted against the person, administered poison, slandered and assaulted that person with rage, misused authority and mercilessly dealt blow after blow; but the blows boomeranged and ultimately the evil forces were annihilated by those very blows. Remember, by an unalterable decree of history, the evil forces are destined to meet their final doom." (1)

Mahaprayan of whistleblower

It is with much sadness that we share the news of the mahaprayan of Giita ji of the Maleny master unit in Queensland, Australia (Suva). She underwent her mahaprayan on 28th April 2018, and was 77 years of age. Giita ji had traveled to Johannesburg, South Africa to visit family and was on an early morning walk at a retreat when her mahaprayan occurred.
Smt. Giita was one of the first initiates into Ananda Marga sadhana in Australia in the early 1970s. She was a great bhakta who was very disciplined in her sadhana practices and had a strong inclination towards spiritual life. She was well-respected in the Marga and inspired many onto the path of dharma as she lived her life according to Baba's ideals. Two of her daughters became WTs and she was a founding member of the Maleny master unit in Queensland, Australia.
She was well known for fighting against all sorts of organisational injustices and upholding margii rights.
With her mahaprayan, Giita ji will be greatly missed by so many. May we all take solace in the fact that our dear elder sister was a bhakta of Sadguru Baba. Certainly she will attain mukti or moksa, accordingly. Baba will lovingly bestow His infinite grace.

How the breath affects one’s thinking
Ananda Marga philosophy says, "The process of breathing has a great influence on the human mind and self, or soul. Suppose a person is running: his or her breathing immediately becomes heavy. In that condition he or she cannot think properly; the sensory organs such as the tongue, nose, etc., cannot function properly, and as a result one's perception is impaired. Moreover, the process of breathing, depending upon whether the breath is flowing through the right nostril or the left nostril or both nostrils, influences people in various ways..."
"When doing a heavy job while breathing normally, a person might have serious difficulties – perhaps ones limbs might be broken – but in a state of baddha kumbhaka, or púrńa kumbhaka [with the lungs full], one can easily do the same work. While doing some over-strenuous activity in a state of shúnya kumbhaka [with the lungs empty] one might even die."
Ananda Marga philosophy says, "Suppose you are climbing to a high place or lifting a very heavy load. If you do not follow the system of breathing while lifting the load, your hands may become painful or your bones dislocated. If you do the same work in a state of shúnya kumbhaka, you will have great difficulty – you may even collapse. If, on the contrary, you perform any strenuous activity in púrńa kumbhaka, taking a deep breath, you can easily do it. All this comes within the scope of that svaravijiṋána. You might have read in the Rámáyańa that Hanuman, by taking a deep breath, made his body swell and lifted a whole mountain. Although it is a mythological story, it refers to the science of svaravijiṋána." (1)
