Future of AMPS

What happened long ago is now unfolding in our own organisation (AMPS). We should understand the parallels and significance. 

3500 years ago on this earth, the Mahabharata war was going on. This was a battle between family members: the sinful Kaoravas vs the righteous Pandavas. And when the two sides came to the battlefield, a large part of India - all the various kingdoms - chose to support one side or the other, and that included Lord Krsna as well. Actually, in His own unique way, Lord Krsna supported both parties. To the sinful Kaoravas, He gave His powerful army, while He joined the Pandavas, but vowed not to physically fight in the battle.

By and large, there was chaos all around, and it was difficult for the common folk to know what was what. Yet, in that mayhem, all those on the battlefield thought that they were on the side of righteousness. And verily, as mentioned, Lord Krsna helped out both sides. To the Kaoravas, He gave His massive army, while Lord Krsna joined the side of the Pandavas. So both sides received His help. And the battle was fought. Only later on did the scholars and historians analyze the situation and identify who was on the side of dharma and why. And verily, today the details and significance of that battle are very clear to one and all. 


Infighting in AMPS

Nowadays, a different type of Mahabharata war is going on within our AMPS. Essentially, various factions are fighting tooth and nail amongst themselves to grab and hold onto material power, i.e. maximum margii supporters, posts, land holdings, and money etc. To this end, they fractured AMPS and divided it into various groups to achieve that. They - all the groups - have abandoned AM ideology.

Side of dharma

However, most everyone thinks that they themselves are on the side of righteousness. Indeed, all parties feel as though they are fighting on behalf of the cause of dharma. But the reality is different. And in this present era, it is obvious that those who have staked their claims on the organisation to keep their post and power are the same ones who have destroyed AM ideology in an attempt to fully secure their stranglehold over AMPS (organisation). And on the other side, a handful of individual wts and certain Margiis have fully dedicated themselves to uphold Ananda Marga ideology. By seeing their actions it will be clear in the near future who is a Kaorava and who is a Pandava. 


Conclusion 

So it will be crystal-clear to people in the future, after a hundred years or so. All will understand that those who power-grabbed the organisation and destroyed AM ideology are not on the side of dharma, while those many individuals who stood strong to uphold Sadguru Baba’s AM ideology are the virtuous and fighting for the cause of dharma.

The moment is before us. We must (a) rescue our AMPS and (b) set the organisation back on course, i.e. as an instrument to propagate the timeless, eternal teachings of Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji.

By all of the above it is clear that in the present situation AMPS is not adhering to the tenets of AM ideology. 


Meaning of AMPS

Nowadays, some think, “We should support the organisation, as it is our home etc - so we should support it no matter what.” However, the name of the organisation is Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha. Baba created the organisation to propagate the ideals of Ananda Marga ideology. That is the only use of the organisation, i.e. to promote bhagavata dharma. But these days, something else is going on.

Why rebirth?

Here below Baba warns us that every action that is tied to the unit ego brings one deeper into bondage. To engage in so-called service for one's own glory or joy is binding. And one will have to undergo that reaction. In that case, liberation cannot be attained; instead, one will have to undergo the reaction of those original actions.

Ananda Marga ideology states, "An original action begets a certain reaction, and simultaneously brings one within the bondage of actions. Unless those bondages are broken, the microcosms will have to keep moving in a cycle of action and reaction – they will have to be reborn again and again on this earth." (1)

These days many Wts are heavily involved in doing business. They earn money for their survival and for their different projects; plus, they have to pay a mafia tax to their supervisors etc to keep in "good standing" with their bosses.

So they have various financial demands. And these demands, which include maintaining AMPS social service projects, are met increasingly through their various businesses. As both an organisation and Ananda Marga family, we have to carefully evaluate how sustainable this approach is, and how far it supports the well-being of our Wts.

As one indulges so one becomes

Here are some of the tragic and harmful consequences:

(a) When those Wts are transferred, then their projects - which they were feeding by their own business ventures - collapse.
(b) Even worse is that many of the acaryas engrossed in business ventures lose their inspiration and spiritual vitality. These acaryas spend a lot of time in mundane affairs to earn money. Sadly, they struggle in following 16 Points etc because they are constantly thinking about business and money. The end game is that their mind gets degenerated.

There are so many examples of Wts who fell in this way. But I think that those who are senior margiis are well aware about this. The overall effect is that our respected acaryas become overpowered by negative microvita. A particular microvita takes influence on the human mind when the mind begins to degenerate. This causes the mind to satisfy itself by compromising with ideology and adopting a more selfish approach.

Ananda Marga teachings guide us, "Microvita exerts greater influence on the mind than on the body...They (yaksa microvita) advise human beings, "Practice dharma sa'dhana' as and where you are. Continue it in perfect adjustment with everything."  That is, they advise a kind of selfish adjustment." (1)

In result, so many WTs who were involved in serious business affairs have left their acaryaship, and nowadays they are living a degenerated life.

Some engaged in tamasik business

Unfortunately, when our acaryas were earning money by different businesses and feeding their own projects, they never thought that their fate would be like this. But slowly over time our workers became more and more degenerated, and ultimately lost all interest in spiritual life.

For example, initially those well-intentioned Wts thought they should involve in selling jewelry, various goods and clothes, garments for the opposite sex, soda, water and other foods and company products. In an attempt to build their business, they promoted their merchandise on beaches, or at nude, pseudo-culture gatherings. Such Wts end up justifying and convincing themselves that, "This way we have to adjust, earn money, and do Baba's work." In the face of all this, their mind became degenerated.

This is the sad state of affairs: When the human mind is exposed to degrading activities then the outcome is not good. Yet that is what has happened with numerous Wts. That is the trend. In this way, those Wts get trapped, and their mental flow is adversely affected. These acaryas forget the Goal - and become fully engrossed in avidya maya. Yet as they drown more and more, they convince and justify to themselves (i.e. self-cheating) that they are just doing objective adjustment - i.e. compromising with ideological standards for earning money. But this is a fake and bogus way of objective adjustment.

As every margii knows, the real definition of objective adjustment is to adjust your material surroundings to the spiritual goal. So the spiritual goal remains fixed. That is the proper way. But some Wts, in their confused state, compromise with the ideological standard of Ananda Marga teachings for mundane gain. In this backwards approach, they stay in five-star hotels, take baths in swimming pools with other nude or semi-nude people of the opposite sex, and go to nude beaches and nightclubs to sell vegetarian food. These are some of the degrading tactics these acaryas do in the name of  "objective adjustment".
 

When mind gets degenerated then what

Side by side, various Wt Didis keep long hair, go to different beauty parlors, and use all sorts of cosmetic makeup on their faces etc. It is sad to see the situation and current state of affairs. In the name of objective adjustment, our various acaryas are cheating themselves and getting involved in lowly business activities, 24 hours. Unfortunately, they pass their time thinking about selling their merchandise etc, and their sadhana and asanas become zero.

In such a condition, earning money becomes the primary goal, and Parama Purusa becomes secondary. In that degenerate state, they lose the path and become microvita yaksa. It is a tragic and horrible outcome. Any Wt who begins to compromise in this way suffers and faces degeneration. Inevitably, in due course they succumb to dirty sexual relations etc.

This situation is alarming. So everyone should be careful and strictly adhere to the path of dharma and achieve the Goal - Parama Purusa. Human life is very rare. The aim of life is to attain Parama Purusa. And eternal peace will be achieved at His feet. There is no other way. Only Parama Purusa is the supreme and eternal shelter. One should only take refuge in Him, not anything mundane.

Bad company: Even a saintly person will degrade

Ananda Marga philosophy states, ”Those who are born with fairly healthy bodies and minds, who do not lack knowledge of morality or live an undisciplined social life, or who have not become dishonest as a result of circumstantial pressure, often unwittingly take to the path of dishonesty because they keep bad company. Perhaps as many as ninety-nine per cent of people talk about themselves in the following way: “I do not need to bother about the company I keep, as long as I am good myself. I can remain good in all types of company. I am old enough to understand the difference between good and bad.” In other words, such people do not like to think, or rather feel piqued at the thought, that somebody should try to dissuade them from keeping bad company. Especially if a less-educated person advises a more highly-educated person to avoid bad company, that person will do it all the more. In society people who regard themselves as superior in status, wealth or education generally believe that it is entirely unwarranted for others to give them advice. That is why an educated but wayward son often disregards the good advice of his parents.” (2)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “The natural characteristics of the human mind, however, tell a different story than what that ninety-nine percent think. A person of any age between seven and seventy is invariably influenced by the company he or she keeps. In other words, where goodness is predominant, bad people will slowly but surely become good, and where the opposite is the case, good people will become bad. Even a saintly person will go astray after a few days of close association with bad people.” (3)


Some may turn into yaks'a microvita

Ananda Marga ideology guides us, "Those who were decent human beings and deeply spiritual, and used to collect money for a noble cause, but in the process of fund raising forgot Parama Purus'a and attached greater importance to their fund raising at the cost of Parama Purus'a -- that is, they remembered Parama Purus'a as part of dharma sa'dhana' and collected money for a great cause, and although Parama Purus'a was the goal collecting money became the dominant desire -- they attain the state of yaks'a devayonii after their demise." (4)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Those who constantly think about rupees or dollars attain a kind of sama'dhi, too, for they become completely identified with their crude object of attraction. If such people incur heavy losses due to the collapse of their business or bank, they will die an instant death, for the pillars on which their life was built crumbled beneath them. So, once they lost their wealth, they lost their lives too." (5)


Donations will come pouring in

To run successful Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha (AMPS) service projects in any area:

(a) Both local margiis and Lfts should support and be actively engaged in that project. Our Wts are to supervise but not become overly engrossed in the daily operation of those projects.
(b) The accounting should be verified by a CPA (certified public accountant), and the annual report should be put on-line. With this transparency, the donations will come pouring in. There will not be any dearth of funds. Remember, there are so many who are searching for good service organisations to support.

 
If the above two points are strictly followed, then our Ananda Marga Pracaraka Samgha service projects will be long lasting and truly help those in need.

Note 1: Why not whole life in one place

Some advise that Wts should stay in the same posting and location for ages and ages. They wrongly think that by this way those workers will be able to accomplish a lot. And, after all, this is what some religions do etc. But such an approach runs wholly counter to our AM conduct rules and the spirit of Wt life. We have seen again and again that when any worker stays in the same place they get degenerated. They become involved in all kinds of vices, stagnancy sets in, and all dynamicity is lost.
 

Note 2: Who is Wt

All know that a Wt means wholetimer dedicated worker - male and female, i.e. Dadas and Didis. Furthermore, in this letter ,the term acarya is used to represent both male and female Wts.

Operating factors behind dreams

Ananda Marga ideology states, “In sleep if the flatulent gas moves upwards on account of stomach trouble or if there is some nervous disturbance, the brain and the sub-conscious mind will become agitated. Our previously imagined or felt objects reappear in our subconscious mind in a disjointed form. This we call a dream. Obviously such a dream is of no consequence. Not only that, the story formed therein will not be well-knit as it consists of merely the re-appearance of the objects, stored in the different parts of the brain. There is yet another type of dream. The Atimánas kośa (supramental mind) is the store-house of all knowledge. At times a premonition of a coming be great happiness or sorrow, which only the omniscient causal frame can visualize, is created during deep slumber in the subconscious mind of an individual, who is deeply concerned with that particular happiness or sorrow. Such dreams do not take place very often. Nevertheless such a dream does carry the prognosis of a true event.” (1)

Our ‘great’ Dada Vijayananda ji

Note: There is a dogma in the general society that if someone dies then people do not analyse the wrongs of the deceased. They think that since that person has already left this world then nothing should be said about their misdeeds etc. But our Guru Shrii Shrii Anandamurti ji says that history must be taught and studied. If history is forgotten, people will commit the same blunders over and over again. In that spirit, we are obliged to present this historical account of someone who has died, as well as some who are still alive.

Overview: This letter contains two historical documents issued by an undivided AMPS Central in 1995. The first contains the English and Bengali versions, and the second scan is the Hindi translation. 


Scare margiis into keeping mum

The following circular (1995) was widely distributed by Centre with the aim of scaring margiis and issuing a strong warning not to talk about scriptural distortion, Bengalization in AMPS etc. Verily, this circular was an open threat intended to create fear and terror in the minds of margiis.

The enlisted so-called enquiry committee members were appointed to find out the facts about:

(A) who is making a hue and cry about the Bengalization of AM books;
(B) which margiis and Wts are opposing the Publisher’s Note in all AM books that falsely proclaimed, “Translated from the original Bengali”, even when the discourses were originally given in English;
(C) which margiis are raising their voice against the distortion of Baba's books;
(D) which margiis are alerting others that there is groupism in AMPS.

Threatening letter to margiis

The sole focus of this circular was to produce the requisite fear to keep margiis mum and set the stage to wrongfully expel those dharmikas who were raising the banner against scriptural distortion to AM books. 

About enquiry commission

This enquiry commission held its meetings at various reportings and did some prep work to expel those Wts and margiis who opposed scriptural distortion to Baba’s books. To this end, the first expulsion was done on the 30th November 1995. Thereafter, all those margiis who were raising their voice against Bengalization were threatened, punished, or had their post or spot on the ACB snatched away etc. They were also debarred from performing social service. These aforementioned so-called punishments are wholly against the fundamentals of Caryacarya.

By this approach, Centre’s singular aim was to mercilessly crush those whistleblowers opposing the distortion of Sadguru Baba's discourses. Let us not forget that those days all the various factions and groups were working in unison under one umbrella. Those in Centre thought they were well on their way to being victorious. History has proven otherwise.

Ananda Vanii states, "The purport of Dharma Sádhaná is to look upon every person, every object of this universe as one integral entity. To jeopardize the unity of the human race by creating factions is not the purpose of Dharma. Those who encourage vested interests survive on the mental weaknesses of people and their dissensions, and that is why they are scared of the spread of the ideals of Dharma and exhibit their intolerance towards it in all sorts of immoral ways, such as abuse, false propaganda and lies. People must not be cowed by this, they have got to march ahead. It is to be borne in mind that hindrances are beneficial to human beings on the path of righteousness and to continue to fight against them is what is sádhaná." (1)

Baba says: “Go ahead with courage”

Ananda Vanii says, "The humans of today are possessed of spirited intellect and accomplished wisdom. They are keen to advance with rapid step shattering the shackles of dogmas. They will no longer be entrapped by the illusion of opportunism. The rays of the crimson dawn of a new humanity on the eastern horizon have started weaving textures of colours on their eyelids and in the subtle recesses of their minds. As for those who have been dreaming of keeping humanity imprisoned by dogmas, their days are numbered; their blissful dreams are being shattered to pieces. I call upon all enlightened people and say: “Go ahead with courage. The humanity has been awaiting you. Establish it in the excellence and grandeur of glory.”" (2)

Confusion about Dada ji

People should know our Dada Vijayananda’s legacy (died July 2002). Dada Vijayananda played a central role in the ruination of Baba’s original Hindi discourses. Those blatant distortions to the Hindi discourses were all done under Dada ji’s direct command.

How Hindi discourses ruined

Here’s how Baba’s Hindi discourses were ruined. When Baba gave discourses in Hindi - such as in Patna, Hazaribagh, Ranchi, Tatanagar, Varanasi, Allahabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Agra, Meerut, Delhi, Hisar, Chandigarh, Jammu, Srinagar, Jaipur, Kota, Raipur, Bhopal, Sambalpur, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bettiah, Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Saharsa, Darbhanga, Purnia, Jamalpur, Anand Nagar etc. - then those Hindi discourses were not published by transcribing the cassettes. Rather, to make a Hindi book from Baba's Hindi discourses, the following steps were taken:

a) Baba's Hindi discourses were translated into Bengali. 
b) Then that Bengali translation was retranslated back into Hindi. The outcome was that this retranslated Hindi version no longer matched what Baba actually spoke. This type of distortion is called the "Bengalisation of Hindi discourses". 
c) Then that Bengalised Hindi translation was published in the form of a Hindi book. 
d) So the fact is that the Hindi books were not made directly from Baba's Hindi discourses. 
e) To make matters worse, in the Hindi book of original Hindi discourses, a false statement was written on the publisher's page – “from the original Bengali”. 
f) By this approach, most of the Hindi books of the organization have been ruined. 
g) Whenever Baba gave discourses in the Hindi language, most of the Hindi books were not made directly by transcribing the cassettes. Instead, they went through the above described process of Bangalisation. This type of gross and blatant injustice has been done to Baba's Hindi and English discourses.
h) Baba delivered the majority of His discourses in Hindi. And the ruination of those Hindi discourses had a negative, cascading effect. Because that tainted Hindi discourse was used as the basis to make the  English version of those discourses. So that means all those English discourses / books were ruined as well. 
i) Bear in mind that this process of Bangalisation was also done when Baba gave a discourse in English. So when Baba spoke in English most of the time that discourse was directly translated into Bengali, which was then branded as the master version. Then they retranslated that so-called master Bengali version back into English. And that retranslated English version is what was printed in the English books. So what Baba originally spoke in English is not what is printed in the English editions.

How some struggle in sadhana

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Most people are well acquainted with the fourth state of mind (eka'gra). In this state the human mind sometimes becomes exalted with divine sweetness; and sometimes becomes as debased as an infernal creature. Sometimes it keeps company with good people and takes a resolve never to tell lies, accept bribes, get intoxicated, or become characterless; and sometimes it thinks that honesty and virtue are sheer folly, for happiness lies in falsehood, taking bribes, stealing, promiscuity, and the like. The mind is continuously tossed between good and bad. But when the practice of sa'dhana' inspires one to accept shreya (path of benevolence) as one’s ideology, one attains the true state of eka'gra bhu'mi. In this state waves upon waves of citta emerge." 

Sha'ntaditao tulyapratyayao cittasyaeka'girata'parin'a'ma 

Ananda Marga ideology says, "Every newcomer to the path of sa'dhana' suffers from a lack of concentration of mind. After repeating the is't'a mantra a couple of times hundreds of undesirable thoughts flood the mind. The newcomer thinks, “I am unable to attain the One on whom I meditate, and instead am pestered by those objects I do not want.” The hand counts the beads, the lips mutter the name of the is't'a, but the mind roams in the filth of hell. When all the undesirable waves are removed from the mind, one blissful wave begins to flow, and the sa'dhaka attains the state of eka'gra bhu'mi." (1) 

Note: If in sadhana a person is not one-pointed (eka'gra means "one-pointed") it means they are not repeating their mantra in a proper manner. It means they are lacking sincerity and regularity of practice.

Why only individual salvation

Ananda Marga philosophy states, “To continue the flow of His divine play, it is not desirable that all entities of the vast universe should attain the Supreme stance at one time; neither is it the natural process. Thus human beings must strive to attain individual salvation. If Parama Puruśa is pleased, they will surely succeed in their efforts.” (1)

Note: Many things can be done collectively like bhajans, sadhana, meal, bath, and kiirtan etc. These can all be collective endeavours. But not everything in this universe can be done collectively. For instance, collective salvation is not possible. Because then creation will cease to exist and Parama Purusa does not want creation to end. Those who are fortunate will use their free will to do sadhana. Unit beings will get salvation on an individual, case by case basis, not collectively.
