We all know Baba places great importance on the study of history as it enables both individuals and communities to learn from past mistakes and thereby progress. Failing that, without the study of history, people commit the same old errors over and over again. So the review of history holds a unique place for the development of any society. Keeping this in mind, please read this below letter which was first posted more than 20 years ago on an earlier incarnation of this very network.
The approach of Prout is to change the society by nuclear revolution. But, in the recent past, some so-called great Proutists were trying to bring change via palatial revolution (i.e. changing the leader in the palace), which is against the teachings of Prout. In that course, they caused so many catastrophes and tragedies. This was all done under the orders of Sarvatmananda. Due to this misguided approach, some idealistic margiis were even gunned down.
Read below how Dada Tadbhavananda got befooled by B group and was trying to bring revolution from Patna by purchasing various leaders and bringing large sums of money from overseas countries to Dada Saravatmananda. That money was poured into Bangla group samaj, and in the end nothing happened - Prout was not established. It was a complete flop. The basic modus operandi chosen by those “great” Proutists was 100% contrary to Baba's teachings.
Prout philosophy states, "Palatial change and pyramidical revolution are not revolutions in the true sense because they may or may not result in the change of the collective psychology and the forward movement of the social cycle." (1)
So let's read this below letter together and review the history...

Dear respected WT's and Margiis, Namaskar.
A few days ago in Prout Net, a very good report appeared in connection with PRI, Prout Research Institute. In my unit last Sunday, some interested margiis sat together and discussed deeply on this point of PRI. Here I am putting forth the common view of what we reached.
We do not know much about Togo and far East Russia, but in India we are well aware about what PRI is doing. As we have interest in Prout activities so we have seen the failure of its projects. I should not hesitate to write the facts that in India, in the past 30+ years, various programs have been made to establish Prout. And in-charges were seeing daydreams.

Useless plan: buy a Prout govt
For a long time the leadership was in the hands of Dada Tadbhavananda ji. And, in his mind, the only idea was that Prout government can be purchased with the strength of money. Dadaji squeezed money from all around the globe and poured it into Bengal initially. Many crude non-margii people were purchased as Prout cadre / leaders. Mostly they were smokers and meat-eaters who had nothing to do with AM sadhana. It was quite visible in reporting sessions of samaj in Tiljala. Because of all this, obviously all those projects collapsed.
In frustration, Dada Tadbhavananda started a similar program in Patna. Many opportunists like Upa'dhya'y etc exploited Dada Tadbhavananda in the monetary sphere. That time also Dada Tadbhavananda was bringing money from outside and pouring it into Patna. And the plan was the same: Purchase the leaders from non-margiis and try to form the Proutist government by hook or by crook. Unfortunately, they never cared for making proper sadvipras from the grassroots level. So because of the very low character of local leaders, it failed miserably.
Money, guns, & tragic death of Ganesh
It is also found that Dada Tadbhavananda ji had connections in Portugal. And the same pattern of work is going on there in Portugal. And that pattern is to establish Prout by either money or the gun. And Dada is making his own base with the help of margii brother Priyatosh, along with the direct internal cooperation of Dada Maheshvarananda ji. I heard this thing from one Dada. But about India I saw all these things personally myself which I already narrated about above. That is how huge money was invested, and everything fell apart because of lack of a proper plan. We should take lesson.

The common view is that some misguided Proutist leaders are thinking that with the force of money Prout can be established. Some other misguided leaders think that by the force of gun Prout can be established. An example of this was the important margii brother Gabriel M. Bukhari (Ganesh) of Burkina Faso who was shot dead in one coup to capture the power. Ganesh was engaged in preparing the military to attack the government. This was done under the direction of respected Dada Sarvatmanandaji. Similar pattern I heard about in the Portugal example. Some misguided people think that by sitting in an office one can give the poor governments plans of Prout made by PRI, and then gradually those crude governmental leaders will establish the Prout policies. And ultimately the Prout government will be achieved and the Swastika flag will be hoisted. This type of vision or dream they all hold.
Sadvipras needed, not firearms & cash etc
Here I find that the cause of failure is-- 'overlooking the spiritual sections of Prout philosophy'. In my own experience of the last many decades I have seen that being a Proutist means being a strong spiritual moralist. That is sadvipra.
In His book "Idea and Ideology", Baba says the following about such sadvipras:
Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Only those who by their nature adhere to the above ten commands (Yama and Niyama) in their normal and spiritual conduct are the Sadvipras. Such a morally and spiritually equipped sadvipra has to perform a fundamental and vital duty to society...Sadvipras are not inactive witnesses. They are active participants to see that no person or class exploits the rest." (2)
So according to the above teaching a sadvipra or Proutist leader does not mean some pseudo-intellectual or some non-margii political power monger, those who got the opportunity to become so-called Proutist leaders. So I want to say that if planning is wrong or not done properly then either it will lead to nothingness or some negative & disastrous result. As we have seen in Bengal and Bihar.

In the past money has been destroyed, margiis got frustrated, crude opportunist-type negative people gained the top posts in Prout. And in consequence good margiis got suppressed and frustrated because they were controlled by characterless local so-called leaders of Prout. And good margii moralists did not get opportunity.
Here is one current example which was done recently by H group in the month Nov 2002. The post of Proutist Sarva Samaj Samiti (PSSS) Vice-president, Global was given to the father of Papu Yadav, one communal political leader of Bihar [See Note 1].
Conclusion
Now it is getting late and due to my ill health here I conclude the first part of the report with Baba's teaching. So what we discussed last Sunday in my unit related with PRI, tomorrow I will report further in part 2 on that discussion amongst Margiis about the out-turn of Prout Research Institute, PRI.

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "But even if there is no defect in philosophy but the person who takes the responsibility of implementing the philosophy is full of defects, then that high philosophy will remain confined to books only. The society will rush headlong to the depths of degradation and no one will remain to save it. The people's copious tears will drench their clothes and they will die, banging their heads against the closed doors of human liberation. For them there will be no escape." (3)

Addendum: After Oct 1990, Sarvatmananda told Ganesh ji of Burkina Faso that if he ate the ashes then he would be impenetrable. Ganesh ji took Sarvatmananda at his word and thought that really he now had armour on his body and that he could not be killed. Tragically, he was gunned down during the failed coup in Burkina Faso. After Ganesh was murdered, his wife and 2 daughters moved to Australia.
Note 1: One communal political leader of Bihar
His name is Chandranarayanji, who is infamous for nefarious activities. And it is well known that he is the leader of the so-called caste of Yadava. Still he is involved in caste politics in Bihar govt and working with his son, Pappu Yadav. Because of a communal murder the son is in jail. Because by his negative political way he gained some communal base or some communal leadership that is why to establish Prout H group made Chandranarayanji the leader of PSSS. Around 12 years ago Chandranarayanji was Samaj secretary when he was a proper margii. But later on he left Prout and he became the propagator or flag bearer of caste and communal sentiment. For that he and his son did all sorts of adharmic things. And on that ground in Bihar he became the leader of Yadava community. It is well known that AM does not believe in casteism but for political gain Chandranarayanji type of communal leader got the post of Global Prout Samaj. This fact is not hidden. Each and every margii of Bihar or of a major part of India knows about Pappu Yadav's nefarious activities. And his father is working like the shadow of Pappu Yadav. He is dedicated for his son-- 24hrs guiding his son and living together as well-known leader of Yadava caste.

Real vs fake sadvipra
By reading this below quote it will be clear to you who is a sadvipra within your known circle and also it will be clear whether you are a sadvipra or not. If you are, then congratulations.
Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “According to our philosophy, when consciousness arises in individual life then a person begins to move in accordance with certain instructions, certain guidance. In collective life as well, when this stage comes, those who are well advanced, who understand better, who are more courageous, more firmly established in morality, who are truly righteous, they have to take the lead, to assume the mantle of leadership. In such times those who worry about what others will say or think, or worry about being criticized, and due to this fear hide behind closed doors thinking that if they take action their good name will be tarnished, such people are not true human beings. They are beggars, begging for reputation. They have no manliness; they have lost the courage to move ahead. At that time those who come forward and say – “Let’s go. I’m with you. If trouble comes, let it come. I’ll take it on my shoulders” – such people I have given the name sadvipra.” (4)
Great importance of this era: life versus skeleton
Ananda Marga ideology states, “This is the way it has been and the way it will always be. However, in collective life at the critical juncture between one great age and another, in this transitional stage of great change, when it becomes impossible for the common man or even ordinary sadvipras to take up the leadership, then Parama Puruśa through his special grace arranges that leadership. At this time on the earth humanity is witnessing such a yuga sandhi. On one side there is the rubbish heap of the past and people are clinging to that rubbish heap because they have not yet been shown the way out. And on the other side, there is the call of the new. Under such conditions what will that Mahásambhúti do who gave guidance to the human race in the past? With courage he will call to human beings and declare: “Give up the rubbish of the past. It can only harm you and lead you to your death. Move ahead. Answer the call of the new. I am with you. There is no reason to be afraid.” (5)

How priests execute their agenda
Ananda Marga philosophy states, “The vipras [religious leaders] have invented and are still inventing new ways of exploiting different communities of people in different parts of the world. In some places they have lured people with the prospect of eternal heaven, injecting into them at the same time the fear of eternal hell. By claiming the doctrine of some particular vipras [religious] leader to be the word of God, they have blocked the natural expression of the human intellect and made people intellectually bankrupt. With the intention of permanently securing for themselves an exalted position in the eyes of the ordinary people, some vipras [religious] leaders have declared themselves to be the incarnation or the appointed prophet of God. Through their own so-called scriptures, they have indirectly let the common people know that no one can achieve the same proximity to God as they – so that an inferiority complex will remain forever in the minds of the masses, and due to this inferiority complex the masses will always follow their teachings, either out of fear or out of devotion. That is why even intellectual people have fallen into their trap and have been compelled to say, Vishváse miláy vastu, tarke vahu dúr [“The goal is achieved not by reason but by faith”] or Majhab men ákl ká dakhl nahii haen [“There is no room for reason in religion”].
