Letter #22: more wrongs found in in AV book

Here is the third section of review of this printed discourse, “Three Fundamental Factors to Succeed in Sádhaná Márga”. To date, we have reached up to the 1 minute and 29 second mark. So this is an entirely new section in this series of letters that examines the integrity of Baba’s printed discourses.

Red underlined words are not Baba’s

Kindly look at the below scan: In only 4 lines of the newly reviewed section of the discourse there are 25 wrong words that have been inserted into the printed text. That means these terms are not present in Baba’s original English audio. In addition, there are numerous words Baba spoke which they failed to transcribe. Verily, Tiljala Publications tainted Ananda Vacanamrtam - 6 (discourse #131). These red underlined words are improper insertions.

You will not find these words in Bábá’s English audio; just these are the words of the publishers, not Baba. In addition, there are many words which Baba spoke that they omitted. All in all this is just a gross injustice.

Sadhakas expect to read Baba’s words, but...

All this is critically important because when sadhakas pick-up one of Baba’s books they expect to be reading Baba’s words. This is especially the case when Baba delivered His discourse entirely in English and the text is also exclusively in English. Yet, as is shown below, we are not given Baba’s exact words - but rather something else in the name of Baba. Verily, that is not the direct speech of Parama Purusa Baba. That is the matter at hand. And that is the heart of the issue that is addressed herein.

When reading one of Baba’s books we expect to be having communion with Baba’s exact words. But sadly, as has been proven repeatedly in this single discourse, there is a massive disparity between what Baba actually spoke and what Tilaja Publications printed in the book. This severely hinders the experience of reading one of Baba’s books.

Same incorrect books Rudrananda reprints & sells

The discourses Tiljala Publications (TP) published in the Ananda Vacanamrtam series are filled with discrepancies and errors. This is readily apparent when comparing TP's printed AV books with what Baba spoke, i.e. the original sound files of those same discourses. And that deviation is the focal point of this letter. Bábá has spoken in a particular manner, but the publishers have printed something entirely different. Whatever Bábá spoke, they did not print verbatim in those books that were exclusively in English and Hindi. Unfortunately, Rudrananda's group reprints and sells those same wrong books in their own name. Sadly, they have not an iota of interest in fixing the discourses.

Conclusion

As His disciples, Sadguru Baba has entrusted us with His divine discourses to lead humanity from darkness to light. So the fact that the printed AM books are not accurate depictions of Baba’s discourses is not just terribly problematic, but sinful. The time has come for margiis and Wts to remake all of Sadguru Baba’s book using the sound files of Baba’s discourses.

Discourse hijacked and relabeled as Bangla

Here we examine a case study on how Tiljala Publications is printing our AM books. Every Ananda Margii should be aware about this as it concerns the presentation and dissemination of Sadguru Baba’s teachings.

#1: Sadguru Baba originally delivered the English discourse, “Parama Puruśa – the Primordial Cause”, on 12 April 1979, Kolkata.

#2: Kindly listen to the sound file (link directly below) and see for yourself how Baba is speaking in English, yet they branded it as a Bengali discourse.

#3: The below details how Tiljala publications has declared that Baba delivered this discourse in Bengali:

#4: In their Publisher's Note of Ananda Vacanamrtam 9 -10 (p. xxi), our Tiljala dadas are making the claim that this discourse was originally given in Bengali. But this is obviously incorrect.

#5: This discourse, “Parama Puruśa – the Primordial Cause”, was given by Baba in English. For direct proof, just listen to the sound file:

Conclusion

Here we are writing the fact: Tiljala Publications proclaimed that this discourse is translated from the original Bengali. But Bábá did not deliver this discourse in Bengali; this discourse was originally given in English.

Indeed this is a very serious issue as the chief goal of Tiljala Publications seems to be to transfer Baba's English discourses into the Bengali pile to increase the overall number of Bengali discourses.

This discourse was given in English. But it was propagated that this original English discourse was originally given in Bengali.

Authenticity ruined

Our Tiljala dadas translated this discourse from the original English into Bengali and from Bengali to English and then published that needlessly double-translated English version in the English book, Ananda Vacanamrtam Part 9-10, chapter 19, p.117. And the consequence of this are terrible. So this is not a language issue but a matter of the authenticity of the printed discourse.

They should have courageously and honestly stated, “This discourse was originally given by Baba in English and we, Tiljala Publications, translated the original English discourse first into Bengali, and from the Bengali back into English.” But they hid this truth.

In the ideal scenario, the original English discourse would have been directly transcribed and published in the English book. There was no need for any translation in order to publish the English version. Due to Bangalisation, this original English discourse has been ruined by the unnecessary double re-translation etc.

Wrongly labeled as a Bengali discourse

Kindly look at the above scan of the Publisher Note from Ananda Vacanamrtam 10 (2007 Edn). The publisher’s make the following erroneous claim:

BOGUS: The discourse, “Parama Puruśa – the Primordial Cause”, was originally given in Bengali.

This claim by the publisher is patently false. Just go and see for yourself. Listen to the audio and it is perfectly evident that Baba is speaking in English.

Up to this point in our examination of this discourse, “The Ten Characteristics of Dharma”, we have reviewed up to the 7:50 minute mark. And here we investigate the next section of text.

Red underlined are distortions

This discourse that was given by Sadguru Baba entirely in English, but Tilajala Publications did not print it in an accurate manner, even though this is the English edition, and Baba’s audio was given only in English. In the below AV book scan, the red underlined words are not Baba’s direct terms. Rather Dada Sarvatmananda and Tiljala Publications polluted the book by inserting their own words.

"Scripture must be flawless"

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "You must see to it that no irrational, undesirable or detrimental theory is propagated in the external world, which can harmfully influence the human mind. You must be ever-vigilant in this regard. That is why I told you to be vocal against all sorts of injustice. Otherwise your goal will not be achieved." (Neo-Humanism: Liberation of Intellect, Discourse 7)

Ananda Marga philosophy guides us, "The scriptures containing spiritual injunctions must be totally flawless. And the pioneering personality must be a strict and benevolent guardian with unyielding conviction." (Namah Shivaya Shantaya, page .200, Edition 1995)

Ananda Marga philosophy says, "The spirit of the message of scripture is conveyed to the readers in a language that touches the deepest chords of the human heart. It is meant to provide inspiration to the seekers of truth. The scripture arouses deep devotional sentiments." (Tattva Kaomudii - 2, 'Our Spiritual Treatise)

Ananda Marga philosophy teaches us, "There must be an excellent and all-embracing philosophy, in which there should be no loophole in any sphere of mind as far as possible." (Namah Shivaya Shantaya '95 edition, page.196)

Ananda Marga philosophy states, "Absolute knowledge is the direct message from God...The books in A'nanda Ma'rga philosophy are all absolute knowledge." (Prout in a Nutshell- part 18, page 10)
