Baba
Self-contradictory Pranavatmakananda
Namaskar,
In Dada Pranavatmakananda’s book, "Advent of a Mystery", a story is relayed about when the great yogi Totapuri came to see Sadguru Baba. And here we are examining three aspects to this story:
(A) Totapuri does sastaunga pranam to Sadguru Baba (p.217). This shows that Totapuri is Baba’s disciple. On this point, Pranavatmakananda is correct.
(B) In the below scan underlined in red, Pranavatmakananda recounts one scene between PA Dada Abhedananda and Baba. Pranavatmakananda writes, “I [Dada Abhedananda] asked him [Baba] who he [Baba] was greeting.”
This above line completely contradicts point A.
So point B is wrong in two ways: Firstly, PA Dada knows very well that Sadguru Baba blesses people; He does not greet them. So PA would never ask Baba whom He was greeting. So Pranavatmakananda was off the mark on this matter. Secondly, in his Pranavatmakananda never capitalises the pronoun “he” when referring to Baba. This is quite shameful.
(C) In the below scan underlined in red, Pranavatmakananda quotes Baba as saying, “I was paying my respects to Totapuri.” But this makes Pranavatmakananda’s account completely hypocritical. Because already it was established in point A that Baba is the Guru, and Totapuri is the disciple as Totapuri did sastaunga pranam to Baba. But now, here in point C, Pranavatmakananda is making it look like the exact opposite by wrongly quoting Baba as telling, “I was paying my respects to Totapuri”, as if Totapuri is the Guru and Baba is the disciple.
So from beginning to end this entire sequence is self-contradictory and misguides the reader.
In Him,
Shrutidhar Deva
