Baba
Namaskar,
>From 1955 to 1990, Baba gave thousands of demonstrations. Verily such demonstrations were so common and regular, especially in 1969-70. There used to be dozens of demonstrations everyday. Baba would touch persons A, B, C, or D, or Tom, Dick or Harry or anyone with His stick and immediately they would fall in samadhi. Upon which Baba would describe the underlying philosophy behind that particular type of samadhi. All along Vijayananda’s duty was to note it all down.

Background of those grand samadhi demonstration
Samadhi demonstrations used to happen in the presence of thousands of margiis or sometimes in extremely crowded, moderate-sized rooms. Those present came from some remote part of the globe, local villages, or from anywhere and everywhere. They were not pre-selected subjects. Always new persons were chosen and others were forced to remain outside. So the same subjects were rarely repeated, the audience was always changing, and the demonstrations were always different.
Indeed, it was the strong rule that people in the audience could not come for more than a few days in a row. From them Baba would select a subject and they would come in the front and Baba used to give demonstrations on them. And always Baba was presenting new demonstrations on different aspects of the practical side of Ananda Marga philosophy. So topic of those demonstrations were not repeated - rather they were always new.
To be a subject in a given demonstration, it was wholly dependent upon the desire of the sadhaka. There was no need to ask orally or write an application that, “I want a samadhi demonstration.” All-knowing Sadguru Baba hears all the mental thoughts of every disciple simultaneously. So if you have strong desire to have samadhi then your wish will be granted. That was the common theme those days. Baba did not make any distinction between rich and poor, or family person or wts, or any relative factor. There were no distinctions. It was fully dependent upon on how strong a desire that disciple had to get samadhi and Baba would call them.
Unfortunately, up till now, half a century later, a proper description of these demonstrations is missing from our authentic records. What has been published is completely deficient and misleading. This letter addresses how the Publications Dept presented those grand samadhi demonstrations in a flawed way.

They were not elevated souls
Here the key point to bear in mind is that mostly those individuals selected for the demonstration were not qualified per se. They were not very elevated souls. Rather many of them ended up leaving Ananda Marga entirely. From this one can easily deduce that those demonstrations were given by Baba for the purpose of giving a teaching to the society. Those demonstrations were not dependent upon one's individual elevation, merit, or their spiritual standard.
Baba chose those people to show that even xyz persons can experience samadhi. If only great sadhakas were used in those demonstrations then the common people would think that those grand spiritual realisations were beyond their reach. Yet when they saw local people and commoners experiencing the divine force, they gained the requisite conviction that they too could reach to those heights, by His grace. Only firmness in Guru is needed. So there was tremendous benefit in Baba’s selection of such ordinary persons.
Samadhi can be achieved by anyone
In some instances, after getting nirvikalpa samadhi during a demonstration, that person left AMPS. And some of them were not believing in Baba also. Because in 1971 when Baba went to jail some of those very samadhi-holders were propagating to general margiis that, "Look, now Baba has lost His power."
So this was the standard of those obtainers of samadhi. From this one can easily deduce that these samadhi demonstrations were given by Baba with the explicit purpose of teaching the society that samadhi is real. It exists; it is not a utopian phenomenon. Samadhi can be achieved by anyone when a person’s mind is high due to the power (shakti) of Guru or by their own sadhana with Guru’s grace.
So long as the mind is elevated, one will realize such divine truths; and when mind is low they will not have such experiences. To prove this point, often these participants were not very elevated; just Baba graciously granted them samadhi. After that they gradually returned to their normal state of mind.

Just like one drama
It is just like one drama on stage. If one character is using the dress of a king then that character is the king for a few hours or a few minutes. And when the drama is over, then he is his usual self. A similar thing happened with those sadhana demonstrations. The main role was Baba: He selected x, y, z persons and with His direct grace He elevated them granted them samadhi. That was the demonstration.
The central idea is that the whole credit goes to Baba - not to certain x, y, z, individuals, i.e. demonstration subjects. But unfortunately that part has been discarded from our Ananda Marga philosophy book. Instead those inserted descriptions of those demonstrations glorify the greatness of the individual, i.e. x, y, z subjects.
See the example of the flaw in the book. By reading the below paragraph it will be clear that false credit was given to the sadhaka. Yet it was Sadguru Baba who gave this demonstration of samadhi to xyz person with His spiritual force. He ordered the kundalinii to rise up. And that is what happened. That sadhaka fell down into samadhji. See here how the history has been distorted, unfortunately.

Unfortunately the aforesaid yellow-highlighted distortion in Ananda Marga philosophy part 5 chapter Rágánugá and Rágátmiká Samádhi is not an isolated example. Now as soon as possible all the concerning AM books should be fixed. Otherwise this part of history will be permanently lost.

On May 10, 1969, at Ranchi jagriti, a sádhaka attained rágátmika samádhi. He sat in dhyánásana and with his mind concentrated on each cakra, and began to do dhyána on the supreme object of ideation. He realized that each of his cakras is being controlled by his Iśt́a. Not only that he felt also that his Iśt́a is perceptibly present in his blood, nerves, indriyas, etc. He began to take deep breaths. After remaining in that state, he started to roll on the ground. In this samádhi there is less physical calmness than in rágánugá. (1)In Him,
