Why Lfts starve

There are millions of organisations in the world that are engaged in social service - in one or another manner. They are fully depending on small contributions of public donors who donate for the cause. Those organisations do not have monks - just family people - and they get donations. Unfortunately, some dogmatic margiis think they are giving to the monk and not to the cause. If they really think about giving to the cause they will not differentiate between wts and lfts as long as proper accounting is there and ideal cause is involved.
But we have seen in countless places where there is no transparency or accountability, but even then Wts get large donations and LFTs starve. That is one of the major causes of the ruination of LFTs. This point is an essential existential matter. Baba created AM without monks. There were no monks from 1955-62. But when big social service projects started then there was a need to start the system of utilising monks.

Not monks but workers
Most senior margiis have experienced this from the Jamalpur days. To do social service Baba needed some dedicated cadre and initially they got the dress or pants and gown. Margiis were surprised about the gown. They were thinking that there was no need for monks. Baba convinced them that they are not monks-- they are workers. And why saffron? Because that is the symbol of dedication. So these are dedicated workers and still today they are called this. But because of a several thousand year old tradition of monks wearing saffron, so when common margiis saw AM volunteers using saffron then they thought that these are the monks.
And this continued on and still people think this is the dress of monks - but actually this is the dress of dedication and service. There are thousands of discourses where on spiritual grounds it is very clearly written that there is no differentiation in spiritual plane between Wts and margiis. But Wts have more opportunity for social service. So by this one can understand that merely donating for the monk dress is dogma. We should donate for the specific service project, and not for just saffron dress.

At present margiis generally do not contribute financially to LFTs. Family margiis are more eager to give to WTs. So margiis must be made aware that those who have dedicated themselves full-time, as every LFT has, are deserving of financial support and donations. LFTs should not just be looked upon and thought of as beggars. They are respected cadre of Ananda Marga and it is the duty of family margiis to support them economically.

LFTs should receive enough compensation to meet their daily needs. This is a key point to the ongoing survival of our LFT cadre.
LFTs must not be deprived of the basics when Dadas live in the lap of luxury. This type of blatant dichotomy between haves (WTs) and have-nots (LFTs) must be eliminated. No society can last where there is such a grand economic disparity.

Treatment: sarvauṋgásana
Ananda Marga philosophy states, "There are some diseases – and their number is not negligible – which are carried by the inference of smell. Most of the skin diseases and boils which have a bad smell are carried by the smell inference. The disease of the laryngitis (in which the voice becomes hoarse and ulcers in the throat emit a foul smell) is invariably carried by the inference of smell. Those who sing for long periods of time or deliver lengthy speeches are likely to be attacked by laryngitis which is carried by negative microvita. This disease can be avoided or cured if sarvauṋgásana (shoulder stand) and matsyamudrá (fish pose) are practised regularly in ascending and descending order, then cloves and betel leaves are boiled together and the warm water is drunk through the nose, and the portion of the tongue near the uvula is then cleaned with the middle finger of the hand while the water is still in the throat. Finally, the water should be ejected from the mouth."
"Negative microvita also attack the human mind through the smell inference. If a person sits in a wine bar or pub and the smell of different alcoholic beverages enters one's nose, the smell will influence one's mind. One may also order a drink from the bar!" (1)
