Baba
Namaskar,
Here below is a public announcement from a Bengali newspaper presenting the 90th mahaprayan - i.e. 90th death day anniversary of Ashvini Kumar. Mr. Ashvini (born 25 Jan 1856) was admitted into a Kolkata hospital for treatment and died (mahaprayan) on 1 Nov 1923. That same day his body was taken to the Kewaratala cemetery in Kolkata where he was cremated and the final rights were performed.
Thus the observance of mahaprayan is not something lofty or great - it is done to denote the death of any human being, not Parama Purusa. When anyone dies, then throughout the entire Indian subcontinent, the mahaprayan program is performed - regardless of whether the person was a villain or hero. Because mahaprayan is death ceremony - anyone who dies is thus qualified to have a mahaprayan.
And in this particular case, Mr. Ashvini died 90 years ago and every year since they have observed his mahaprayan, i.e. annual death day ceremony. So this has been going on for a long time.

As you may recognise, the mahaprayan term is the 4th word of Bangla script in the below Bengali newspaper heading, i.e. the top line. In addition, the term appears many times throughout the article. If you use that to search on Google you will easily find this article.
Mahaprayan means death
The purpose of this letter is to help all understand that mahaprayan is a common phenomenon, just like how in the west people say the person “passed on”, “lose one's life”, “expire”, “breathe one's last”, “meet one's end”, “meet one's death”, “perish”, “go the way of all flesh”, “go to one's last resting place”, “slip away”, "passed away" and "died" etc. Similarly, in Bengal & other Indian states, mahaprayan is commonly used for the deceased. So the concept of mahaprayan is not something grand or lofty. Rather it is quite mundane - i.e. just part of daily street talk etc. It denotes the death of any mortal human being, not Parama Purusa.
Mahaprayan dogma: not meant for Taraka Brahma
So no one should naively think that the mahaprayan program is something glorious only to be used in a very special manner - for Taraka Brahma. The mahaprayan program is for the death of any common or unknown person who has made his departure from this world. That is why this mahaprayan is not used for Taraka Brahma because He did not depart - He is the eternal Parama Purusa. This is never done for Lord Shiva and Lord Krsna. So the mahaprayan program is just for ordinary humans, i.e. mortals. About this there should not be any confusion.

No scope for annual death-day ceremony; Sadguru is eternal
And as we know, in our Ananda Marga, there is no such thing as a yearly death ceremony or annual mahaprayan program.
Sadguru never dies - even those getting initiated today in Ananda Marga will accept Lord Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji as Guru. So we must think deeply - must contemplate this matter. Baba is Sadguru and eternally present. We must think how far it is just to observe the mahaprayan (death) of that entity?
Those with a basic level of bhakti feel Guru is with them. In that case there is no question of any mahaprayan. Those with substandard bhakti can think that Guru died, but even if one thinks in that way, still the declaration has been given not to extend the death day rituals beyond 12 days. So even if one with lesser bhakti thinks that Guru has died, it still contravenes Caryacarya to observe their annual death day (mahaprayan), year after year.
Conclusion
For the last 29 years, the idea was imposed that mahaprayan is something divine. Some were indoctrinated into this false notion, but now most are understanding that the Tiljala so-called mahaprayan program is a preposterous dogma. True bhaktas never participate in an annual death ceremony of the ever-present God. That is against pre-1990 Caryacarya.

Mentality of MPD organisers
Here Baba exposes the mentality behind those organisers of the dogmatic Mahaprayan gathering.
Ananda Marga philosophy says, "Human beings yield to this dogma with the sole intention of attaining selfish pleasures; even educated people knowingly submit to dogma. They know that they are surrendering their intellect to dogma, and that the outcome will be undesirable; they know and understand everything - why, even then, do they knowingly submit to it? They are all deliberate sinners and intentionally accept dogmas as truth. They observe that these dogmas are based on a´tma-sukha tattva; but they think, "I don't care whether it does good or harm to others, because at least I have got some pleasure out of it!" Being motivated by this idea, they enslave themselves to dogmas." (1)
Some of the organisers think if they can derive some mundane pleasure from this event then that is enough. Plus by proclaiming that Baba is gone then they can rule as they wish. And that is what we have seen happening since 1990.

Collective force resolves all difficulties
Ananda Marga ideology states, “[Wild dogs] move in packs and because of this they are very courageous. If a tiger encroaches on their territory they will chase after it as a group and irritate it with their barking. Unable to put up with the disturbance the tiger will lose itself in the deep forest.” (1)
Ananda Marga ideology guides us, “Do all your works unitedly. No work is hard for you, no work is difficult. Move forward easily and smilingly, solving all the problems of the world. Your victory is assured. It is within your grasp. When anyone does some virtuous work, Parama Puruśa is with that person. Under such circumstances, one need not even pray, “O Lord, give me more strength,” because since Parama Puruśa is with you, He will surely give you more strength. In fact He is always giving you more strength. So my advice is: “Move ahead”” (2)
Note: Here in His above teachings Baba emphasizes the importance of unity. In the first guideline, Baba presents the example of wild dogs who by their collective force are able to chase away a dangerous predator. And in the second guideline, Baba guides us that human should follow a similar approach because by our collective force every problem can be solved. Then all sorts of great works can be done and one will feel His presence and grace in each and every work.
